Is there too much reality on TV? I know when the first episode of Real World, or Survivor, or Apprentice came on, it was exciting seeing real people in action, and real feelings, and real pain and suffering, and real love and lust and hate… All the stuff that made reality TV great because it was just watching people be people. They are us and we see some of the life we live in them. It made us feel like were not so strange anymore. We relate. … but now, everything that is live, can be live, and is. We now see the pathetics and desperates. Bums filming the rich, and the rich playing in mud. How the world has turn to the pigs and yet we still can’t get enough of it.
So is it all a mess now. Can we even call it the reality when the people we film for fame are aware of this phenomenon of live real life TV and are now brought to momentary celebrity status? Are they no longer regular real?
I feel for all the great story tellers out there. Filming the monkeys in a room typing away can be more interesting than want is being written… Documentary fading to the performance of amateur life...
