Sitting at a restaurant. You sometimes stare… look across the room and all you feel is this dirty eye contact piercing you back, for just a moment. Just enough to make your heart skip a beat, and then you’re right back to what you were doing. But again and again, this presence becomes a strange but alluring ballet of the senses... a subtle distraction… and as you leave, there is a simple exchange of smiles back and forth only to end with an embarrassed tilt of the head away. Smiles still remain... I think this is my delusional interpretation of some inflated ego...OK, I'm going to hide in the corner now and blush to myself. Just another hottie in different leagues.
How simple it is for us to misread a situation and design our own explanations. Without the facts or the realities, a one sided explanation carries as much fantasy as one can imagine. This is a daily occurrence. Simple smiles can create the best of days for people, even if they were just passer bys who were just checking their teeth in the reflection of a car window. We like to think the best of all situations because the truth is something that is less flattering. The truth in the boring world give no desired answers. Whereas in the unknown world, we create something out of nothing. Our of misinterpretation, out of our own delusional states, we create the stories of things that are worth talking or writing about. That is the fun part. That is the beauty of story telling. It is the true so long as you keep it in your head that way. I’m sure the romances recollections have had their own deviation throughout the years.
So here in my corner, I can just smile in my own thoughts, thinking what I may, with avoidance of the real facts, and imagine what I may… ah yes, the delusion…
