Team Manager Responsibilities
Thank you, for taking up the task of being Team Manager for your child's team.
The team sheet, as you may be aware is Computer generated with the child's name already typed on it, this has made your job a little easier but, there are some other things that you and other parents on your team do need to know.
1.Team sheet Costs
-The cost of the team sheet varies, on Friday & Saturday they cost $27.00,
on Sunday's the cost is $20.50. This cost incurred is NOT dictated by Cougars,
this cost is derived by the KBI running costs.
2.First Game of the season you the team manager would usually pay for
the team sheet yourself, then meet with the team parents and discuss how much
each week you would all like to collect, as long as you collect enough to
cover the cost of the team sheet. The usual amount is $5 (only a suggestion)
There will obviously be left over money each week, so perhaps you can organise
a special meal or activity for the team, or buy trophies at the end of the
season.
(This is only a suggestion; older children may not want a trophy
but might enjoy a good feed of junk food or a trip to the movies)
3.Identified as
having played -A new rule was bought in for the recording of players having
played a game and therefore having the game counted towards their eligibility
for finals. At half time the scorers must identify who has played on the opposition
team by a tick, if they are playing, or a cross if they are not there, next
to the players number on the score sheet The number of ticks are added up
for each team and the number written underneath, then both scorers sign to
confirm their agreement.
(This new rule was introduced to do away with signing the back
of the sheet if you did not score, foul etc. as many players would forget
to do this.)
4.Fill in Players
-If you need a fill in player for your team PLEASE contact your age group
coordinator who will be able to give you possible players names and phone
numbers. I must stress that coordinators need to know who is filling in, a
player playing up a grade in their own age group can only do so twice before
being re-graded, whereas a player from the same grade in a younger age group
can be used many times. If you have a fill in player for the game write their
name on the sheet, both Christian and Surname with their number, you also
need to record the team and grade they are from, then cross out the player
that is absent.
(The grade secretary needs to know whether the player is permanent
or not so that the name doesn't appear on the score sheet each week if it
is not needed.)
6.Games played to Qualify for finals -Next to every child's name is a number in brackets, this represents how many games the child still needs to play to qualify in finals. Towards the end of the season you need to keep an eye on this so that you ensure all your players qualify for finals.
7. Medical Certificates - If you have a player who is absent due to illness or injury for an extended length of time - 3 or more weeks - you need the parents to get a medical certificate straight away, the co-coordinator also needs to be notified. If the team reaches finals this certificate can be presented to Junior Committee to ensure that the player qualifies - games covered by the certificate will be credited to the player.
8. New
Players -If you get a new player or one moves up from another grade and joins
your team, you must write their full name and number on the front of the score
sheet and write 'permanent player'.
(The words "permanent player" indicate to the Grade
Secretary that the child's name and number needs to appear on the score sheet
for the rest of the season.)
Being Team Manager is
a good way of getting to know other parents.
If you have any questions throughout the season please call your team's coordinator
or a Committee member for help or advice.
