Blake and Krystle’s room, the next morning
“Blake?” Krystle awoke to find her husband’s side of the bed empty. She smiled. He must have gone down to breakfast already. Then Krystle frowned in an instant, the previous evening flooded back to her: all the yelling, the argument about who kept secretes from whom. It all flooded her mind in one fowl swoop. “It almost seemed like a dream.” She got up and pulled a robe on, and began to look for Blake, she had to make him understand that she only did what she thought was best. Krystle opened the door, and almost walked into Adam. “Oh Adam, I’m sorry.” “Good Morning, Krystle.” Adam said cheerily. He felt refreshed after a long nights sleep. “Is everything all right?” The words came out so easily although Adam knew he had stirred up a hornets nest yesterday. “I’m afraid your father found out everything.” Adam faked a puzzled look. “Found out what?”
“About Krystina, LB and Ashley, but worst of all he knows about the retirement.” Krystle almost cried. Adam took Krystle into his arms and held her. For a brief moment, he felt guilty. Krystle was always there for him, she had helped him through Kirby’s death, and much more. “It’s going to be all right Krystle, I promise you.” But the guilt wore off; he only told Blake the truth to further his own gain. “How did Blake find out?” “I don’t know, I came home late last night, and Blake knew everything.” She wiped away a tear. “Have you seen him this morning?” “No I just got up a few minutes ago.” Adam said, “Oh”
“Well, I might have good news to cheer you and father up: Dana called this morning; she’s coming to Denver tomorrow.” “Oh, that’s wonderful news.” She started down the hall. “I’ve got to find Blake. Excuse me.” Adam stared down the hallway. He felt bad for causing Krystle any pain, but he had to do it. He wanted Denver Carrington for himself, and for his son, and was ready to do everything to become the next CEO. Blake’s Study Fallon stood in the doorway for a moment and watched her father reading. She knew how tough the last few days had been for him, although he would never show it. La Mirage had kept her busy the past few weeks, so she didn’t really have time to talk to her father and share his disappointment. “Hi Daddy,” Fallon finally entered the room. “Fallon,” Blake said cheerfully and smiled at his daughter. “Aren’t you supposed to be at the hotel already?”
“Well I wanted to stop by and check on you first” She smiled. “I’m fine. I just can’t stand that my family lied to me. In more than just one case.” Blake grumbled, walked over to the bar and poured himself a glass of water. “I’m sure nobody wanted to hurt you.” Fallon said softly. Blake turned around quickly and raised his voice. “Now that’s just what everybody keeps telling me. But in the end more and more lies are coming to the surface.” Fallon sat down on the sofa and tried to listen carefully to what her father had to say. “Just look at the family situation,” Blake continued. “LB and Danny were best friends, and now they’re acting as if they were enemies, because of that girl.” He shook his head in disbelief. “They’re still young, daddy, and for the first time they’re in love. Unfortunately it’s with the same girl. Do you remember the time when I was standing between Jeff and Miles? It wasn’t easy for either one of us. And look at them now. The same thing will happen to Danny and LB, don’t worry. In the end family bonds are always stronger.” “I hope you right, but it’s not just that, darling.” “I know. It’s the retirement that is really eating at you, isn’t it?” Fallon continued. “How could they do that? How could anybody think I would just agree on this ridiculous decision and walk away from my company. I built it and I’m going to stay there until the day I die.” Blake crossed his arms to underline his statement. Fallon stood up and walked over to her father, then touched his arm. “And don’t tell me that it’s the best for me too.” Blake went into defensive. “Daddy, you know I’m on your side, and I have always supported and respected your decision...”
“But” Blake knew that there was more to come. “But I remember a conversation between you and me about a year ago. You were totally proud of LB and the interest he’d developed for Denver Carrington. You had even told me that once Danny was ready to work for the company you could start thinking of stepping a bit back.” Fallon knew how she had to get to her father’s mind in order to make him see things differently. Blake didn’t say anything. “Just remember how long you’ve waited for the moment to lay Denver Carrington into the hands of the next generation...” Fallon knew she had said enough now and needed to leave Blake alone. She kissed him softly. “Well, I’ll better go to the office now, there still lots of work to do.” Blake smiled. “I guess that the mentality I instilled in you is working even on Saturday…” “You always worked six day a week.” Fallon kissed her father on the forehead. She looked down at him. “Everything will work out fine, just keep an open mind, daddy.” “I’ll do my best Fallon.” Blake forced although he knew it would be difficult. “Oh, I almost forgot. I heard Jeff and Lauren fighting last night, is everything all right?” “Yes, it’s just Lauren. She is so impossible lately.” Fallon walked back over to Blake. “She is staying out late, sneaking around and skipping school.” “She sounds a lot like a little girl I once knew.” Blake laughed. “Yes, Jeff says the same thing.” Fallon elbowed him. “I’m really beginning to worry; maybe my being away so much has caused some of this.” “I’m sure it will be all right. She will grow out of it.” Fallon frowned. “I’m not so sure.” She started for the door. “I’ll see you for dinner, daddy.” “Bye, darling.” Blake replied shortly when she left and then turned to the window. He had certainly many things to think about. Dexter International-the Denver offices Dex had set up an emergency meeting with the heads of all departments and his closest collaborators, after the bank had definitely refused his request for an extension of time for the redemption of the loan. Dex was in a panic. Bryan Sampson, the company chief financial consultant and an old friend who had worked for Dex’s father already was the first of his people that arrived. “Good morning, Bryan.” Dex greeted him with a handshake. “Thank you for coming a bit earlier. I wanted to talk to you before the meeting.” He explained. “Sure Dex, what about?” Sampson inquired. “I don’t know anybody else who has your experience in this business and I trust you completely.” Dex started. The financial consultant looked at him curiously. “I need your advice. The bank refused an extension …,” Dex explained. Bryan Sampson was shocked. He knew what that meant – they needed cash … immediately, and they wouldn’t get it out of one of their projects. “I can’t believe that. “ He said angrily, unwilling to understand the shortsightedness of the bank. “Why? We definitely would have made it with a bit more time. What were their arguments to refuse our request?” Sampson asked. Dex shook his head in frustration. “Well, the usual explanations … the risk is too high, they need to be careful with the money of their investors, etc. …” Sampson turned away, trying to think of a way out of the dilemma. “What can we do?” He asked more to himself than expecting an answer from Dex. “I’ve been considering putting some more stock on the market.” Dex suggested. Sampson turned around. “I would advise you against it. That isn’t a good idea, Dex. If you sell your stock the price will hit rock bottom and it will make the company vulnerable to takeovers.” “I know you’re right, Bryan.” Dex agreed. “But either we find a new investor until Monday or we have no other choice.” At this moment some of the others arrived for the meeting, among them Neil Twain, the chief accountant. Dex put one hand of Sampson’s shoulder. “Please think about it again.” Sampson nodded and Dex approached the other men. “Good morning everybody.” He greeted them. His people returned the greeting. “Neil, could I have a word with you alone?” Dex asked, wanting to talk about another issue that worried him. The two men stepped aside. “I tried to find Scarlet O’Neal. Wasn’t she working as your assistant?” Dex asked his chief accountant. Twain started to get nervous. “Yes … no … I mean she used to, but she isn’t with the company anymore.” He stammered. “So, she isn’t in Denver?” Dex said, surprised and relieved at the same time.
“No. Why do you want to talk to her, Dex?” Twain inquired. Dex certainly had no intention to explain his reasons. “Ah, it’s not important anymore.” He dismissed him. Fortunately Scarlet was gone. Sable learning about his affair with Scarlet was the last thing their relationship needed right now. De’Soraro Spa- Downtown Denver Steven walked into the room. Sammy Jo was lying on the sofa with only a towel covering her naked body. “Hey, you look beautiful!” Steven kissed the top of her head as he sat down across from her. “Hi, you sure look relaxed.” Sammy Jo smiled. “That last massage was wonderful.” Steven signed. “So what do we do now?” Sammy Jo teased. “How about we try out the Jacuzzi, the one in the bathroom it might be fun.” Steven explained. “That’s sounds perfect! Did I thank you for taking me here?” Sammy Jo smiled. “Several times but the day is young…” Steven teased. A short beep interrupted their conversation. Sammy Jo grabbed Steven’s cell phone. “Just shot it off.” Steven pleaded. “Alright, but Harper is looking for you.” Sammy Jo stated noticing Steven’s smile turning into a frown. “I’ll see him later tonight” He explained. “Really?” Sammy teased. “It’s not what you think, he’s helping me with mother. That’s all!” Steven explained. Sammy Jo raised her eyebrows but said nothing. “Alright, I slept with him. But it was completely impulsive. I don’t know what came over me.” Steven stunned himself; he and Sammy Jo never discuss these sorts of things. “Oh Steven that’s wonderful, I’m so proud of you… So what now?” She asked “I’m not sure. I don’t even know if I like him…” “Some of the best sex I’ve had was with men I didn’t like.”
“I didn’t need to know that. He is so different, younger. I think he’s hiding his homosexuality.” “Maybe you could make him come out…” Sammy Jo smiled. “No, it was a mistake. It won’t happen again.” Steven shook his head. “Too bad, I was hoping you were beginning to change, being impulsive once in a while.” “I am impulsive!” “When you’re drunk maybe.” “Oh really?” Steven stood up and picked Sammy Jo up. “Steven put me down!” She screamed. “Oh no, oh no!” He laughed and took her to the Jacuzzi… Bob Wagner’s Bar, downtown Denver Kyle entered the bar quickly. He hoped Bob wouldn’t be too angry at him for being late. Krystina had been so happy to hear that he found a job last night, and they had decided to celebrate the good news in a romantic evening that had lasted until the middle of the night. He was glad to see his wife so happy and couldn’t refuse a night of passionate love. “It’s not too brilliant to be late on your first day here.” Bob greeted him. “Oh, good morning Bob, I’m truly sorry, it just that – “ “Don’t excuse yourself. Just start working. We have a new shipment coming tonight from Mexico. I want you to meet our new supplier, Mr. Sherman. You still speak Spanish, right?” “Si senior” Kyle smiled, hoping it would soften Bob a little bit. But Bob’s expression remained the same, cold and serious. “Bueno, Charlie will take you to the storage in Pam Springs and from there you’ll go to meet Mr. Sherman in New Mexico.” “Today?” Kyle asked surprised.
“Yep, he’ll be waiting for you at the border.” “Bob, it’s Saturday. You told me that I would only have a few things to do today– “ “Listen, Roberts. We are not playing games here. This shipment is very important to me, we have some new clients who wait for that stuff, and I need it to be here before nighttime parties. So you are going now with Charlie, or perhaps you want me to find another person to do that?” Bob looked angry. Kyle tried to think. New Mexico was more then six hours driving, not to mention all the way to the Mexican border. He might be back in Denver late at night, if at all. He didn’t like the idea, but if he said no, Bob would kick him out and he’d be unemployed again. Kyle knew he couldn’t let down Krystina, not after the wonderful evening they had shared last night. “Roberts! Are you dreaming or what?” Bob almost yelled at him. “Oh, no I just… I’ll go with Charlie, no problem.” Kyle agreed. “Good boy” Bob smiled and then turned away. “Charlie!” He screamed. The big black man that welcomed Kyle the other day showed up in the room. “Yes, Mr. Wagner?” He asked, looking at Kyle. “This is Kyle Roberts, he’ll join you today. I’m counting on you to teach him the job.” “Oh, I’ll teach him all right” Charlie winked to Bob and then turned to Kyle. “Come on, Roberts. We have a long way.” He said seriously. “Watch your back, hmm? We don’t want to let down our new customer.” Bob called after them when they went out of the bar. He lighted a cigarette and opened the radio when the door opened and Ricky came in. “Well, look who’s here. How are you doing, Ricky boy? Where is your pretty girl?” “Home” “Raising money, I assume?” “You will get the money, Bob. I just came to make sure you remember our deal.” “Hey, don’t worry fellow. This is one deal I can’t forget so easily…” Bob Wagner smiled. The Carrington Mansion – Breakfast nook
Blake was sitting at the table, reading the newspaper and drinking coffee when Jeff entered. Jeff felt uncomfortable, thinking of Blake being mad at him. All those years he’d always gotten along so well with his father-in-law. Almost like father and son. They never had big fights or arguments and Jeff had always valued and respected the old man. He had also learnt a lot about the oil business from Blake. But since Blake had found out about the retirement, there was a rift between them. “Hello Blake,” Jeff said and gave Blake a smile.
“Hello Jeff,” Blake replied casually. “Blake, I wanted to talk to you and tell you that I’m sorry about what happened. Nobody ever meant to go behind your back.” Blake put down the paper and his glasses. He faced Jeff and looked at him, as if he expected some further explanations to come. He was curious to hear what Jeff had to say about the whole situation. “When the doctor told us that it was better for you to retire for good, we were shocked too.” Jeff continued carefully. He didn’t want to upset Blake any more than he already was. “We all were aware of what this would mean to you and we didn’t know how to tell you.” “So rather than explain the situation to me you all made a plan of your own, without telling me anything?” Blake immediately replied coolly. He wasn’t mad anymore, but still disappointed about the fact that the retirement had suddenly become a major issue in his life. Blake hadn’t wasted one thought in years about giving up his position in his company. Not by a free will. “Everybody was worried about you and your health, especially Krystle. You know how much she loves you and she would never go behind your back. And neither would I.” Jeff said. Blake looked Jeff in the eyes and believed what he heard. But he still couldn’t accept that he wasn’t told about the decision his family had made for him. “I really appreciate your concern, Jeff and I believe you. But when I need help in making plans and decisions, I’ll ask for it.” Blake said and put his glasses back on, when LB showed up in the room. “Hey dad Grandpa, how are you?” He asked. The old man looked at Jeff and then at his first-born grandson. “I’m okay, LB. At least physically.” Blake answered. “Oh, is something wrong?” LB asked naively. “Actually, yes” Blake was about to tell him he knew about Ashley, but Jeff precede him. “Your grandpa knows about Ashley, son.” He said and LB looked at Blake, puzzled. He didn’t know what to say. “I’m sorry, I didn’t tell you myself about that. I planned too, but-” “How long, LB?” Blake asked the young man. Jeff looked at his son. He wanted to help him, but knew he was capable of dealing with Blake on his own. “A few months” LB said quietly. Blake’s expression was angrily now.
“I don’t understand. During Christmas, Danny and Ashley were …” He realized suddenly so many things. It all was clear now. “Dear god, it was a lie? The whole evening was a lie!” Blake raised his voice.
“Blake, please calm down. LB wanted to tell you the truth. We convinced him not to.” Jeff defended his son. “I’m sorry, grandpa. I’m sorry for lying to you.” LB said and looked at the old man. Blake never talked to him this way. He never was angry at him, and it killed LB to see that expression on his face, knowing that partly, he caused it. “We better go now, LB. Blake needs his rest.” Jeff turned to LB. “I’m really sorry, grandpa. I really am.” LB repeated and then left the room. Blake and Jeff exchanged looks, but said nothing.
The Carlton Hotel- Patricia’s suite
Patricia held her breath for a moment, as she opened the door. The last person she had expected to show up was Krystle Carrington. “Mrs. Carrington, what a surprise …” Patricia said friendly but distanced. She gave Krystle a quick formal smile. “May I come in?” Krystle asked dryly. Without a word, Patricia stepped aside to let Blake’s wife in. She scanned Krystle and tried to find out what the reason for Krystle’s visit could be. Blake must have told her about my visit, Patricia thought. Obviously, Krystle hadn’t taken this too well. Her expression and her tone didn’t reveal much friendliness. Patricia closed the door and walked to the bar. “Would you like something to drink? Perhaps a glass of my wine?” Patricia said, trying to sound as friendly as possible. If this was going to be a jealous-wife-scene, she’d be prepared. “No, thank you. I don’t drink that early.” Krystle’s voice still sounded cold. “So, what gives me the pleasure of your visit?” Patricia couldn’t hide the cynical undertone. “Let’s skip the hypocritical act.” Krystle said annoyed. “I assume that you know why I’m here.” Patricia curled her lip, shrugged and walked down the stairs from the bar to the living room. “I guess, it’s about my little visit the other day in the mansion.” Patricia replied casually. “Actually I’m talking about your suspicious appearance in Denver and the little gifts you sent after Blake came back from the hospital. And don’t tell me you just happened to be in town. I wouldn’t buy that.” Patricia sipped on her glass of red wine. “I only visited an old friend of mine. I don’t see where the problem is. Although I must admit, I already suspected that you might be a little jealous. Occasionally, I read about your differences with the first Mrs. Carrington.” Patricia smirked at Krystle, who started to get angry. It was easy for her to see what kind of provoking game this woman was playing. But Krystle didn’t have the least intention to play along and went straight ahead.
“I don’t care what you suspect or read in the newspaper. I just wanted to make one thing clear: Stay out of Blake’s life!” Patricia’s smirk changed into laughter. “You just hold your horse’s lady you don’t even know me but you’re already at my throat. If you would have talked to Blake, I assume you didn’t, then you’d know I’m as harmless as a sheep.” That remark made Krystle even angrier as she already was. “I know enough people like you, Mrs. Harrison. And the communication between Blake and me is just fine, thank you!” She threw an icy look at Patricia, who was still acting cool. She sat down on her sofa chair and lit a cigarette. She took her time to light it and enjoyed the first toke.
“Look, I really don’t get what you’re problem is. All I know is that I certainly don’t have to justify anything. I wanted to see Blake and wish him well. After all, I would have almost become Blake’s wife.” “I’m sure there were enough reasons, why you didn’t.” Krystle attacked. “I wonder what kind of reasons …” She added. With that sentence, Patricia realized that Krystle obviously didn’t know anything about what had happened. “If you imply, that Blake threw me out of the house or something, I’m sorry to disappoint you. Blake was crazy about me and we had the best time of our lives. And if it hadn’t been for that spoilt brat of his, I would have indeed married him.” Patricia said angrily and stood up. “So, if you’ve finished now, I’ll have to ask you to leave!” “I’ll go. But I warn you, Mrs. Hamilton. If I learn that you don’t stop playing your little games on Blake, I’ll be back!” Krystle sharked at her turned on her heels and left.
Denver Memorial Hospital- Miles’ room
Miles listened intently as the doctor told them everything about the procedure. Monica, Sable, and Amanda were close by listening as well. “I’m afraid it’s not so simple.” The doctor continued. “Please tell us all the truth, Doctor.” Sable said, wearing a brave facade. “Well, as you know Miles’ body is over producing red blood cells, there is no known cause, but the some of his symptoms are increased numbers of red blood cells, and hemoglobin in the circulation.” The doctor paused. “In Miles case it’s a massive infusion of red blood cells that produce irreparable damage to the internal systems. His body is producing very few healthy white blood cells as a counter balance.” “That’s why I need that transfusion?” Miles asked solemnly. “Yes, with the right match the white blood cells will work in factors of blood clotting, that your body is not creating on its own. With this infusion of new blood, we will be able to operate on your heart without the worry of heart stoppage, and stroke.” “So what’s next?” Amanda asked. “We start a transfusion right away.” The doctor explained. “Some one was a match right?” Monica asked.
“Well Mrs. Colby, usually twins are a suitable match in blood type, bone marrow, and most other organs, but in your case your antigens were not a close enough match. Neither was your mother’s.” “But you do have a match?” Amanda stated, holding Miles’ hands. “We have a close enough match to try the transfusion.” The doctor paused and looked at the results. Miles, Monica, Sable, and Amanda waited in still silence. “The closest match was Mr. Jeff Colby.” The doctor said eventually. “What?” Miles asked surprised.
“Jeff Colby and you share the same blood type. You have also a close match in antigens. It’s lucky your brother is a better match than your twin.” “But Jeff Colby isn’t his brother, doctor.” Monica stated. The doctor frowned, and looked at the results. “He’s not?” “No they are cousins.” Sable said. “He’s my sister’s son.” “I’m sorry, I just assumed because the match was so close that they were brothers, but it’s not unlikely that they match, because after Jeff Colby you Sable were the closest match...” “Isn’t it odd that a cousin would be the perfect match?” Amanda asked, confused. “Well I didn’t say perfect, Jeff Colby is the closest match we had, and since Sable and his mother are sisters, and Jeff and Miles are both male would explain the match.” The doctor finished. “So doctor, when do we begin the procedure?” Miles asked. “Monday morning.” “And if my body doesn’t accept the transfusion?” “Then we either proceed with the operation, or wait for a suitable donor” The doctor’s beeper went off “I have to go, please excuse me” he exited the room. Amanda sat with Miles. Sable walked over to the window, and Monica followed her. “Mother, you have to face the facts, If Miles body doesn’t accept the transfusion form Jeff, you are finally going to have to get in contact with who ever is our Father.”
“I know” Sable looked out the window. Her son was in danger, and the only person that might be able to save him was his father. But who could be their father? There were three options: Carter Heddison, the diplomat who raped her, or the two brothers she once loved: Phillip and Jason Colby… Later that evening, The Carrington Mansion-Lauren’s room Lauren lay in her bed and listened to the radio, Justin Timberlake’s new song “Rock You” was playing. She didn’t hear her cell phone ringing, and only when a stone clashed her window and almost broke it, she jumped from the bed and looked outside. Ricky was standing between the trees, signing her to come downstairs. “Are you crazy? Someone could hear that!” A few minutes passed and they were sneaking into the basement. “Wow, it’s like in the movies here.” Ricky said enthusiastic. “Well, you are not in a movie, Ricky. What you got, hmm?” She asked him, pointing to the bag he held. “Oh, that” “Yes, that!” Lauren was annoyed. “Hey Lauren, you better change your attitude. I’m not your servant!” Ricky was angry with her arrogant behavior. “And you better stop taking me as granted! So far I was the one who paid you for this crap!” “This crap, until now, it helped you deal with your crazy moods, don’t forget that!” He didn’t gave up. Lauren maybe gave him money to buy grass, but she was still younger than him by three years. But Lauren didn’t give up. She knew Ricky couldn’t afford to buy drugs himself, and needed her money. “Show me what you got!” She asked. Ricky looked at her, hesitating for a moment, and then opened the bag and gave her the “material”. Lauren looked at it, surprised. “Is that all?” “Yes, Bob wants more money.” “I don’t have more money! I gave you all my safety money!”
“Yes, right. You think I’m stupid, or what? You gave me nothing!” “I’m telling you the truth, I don’t have money anymore.” She became defensive now. “So you better raise more cash somehow if you want more. Bob said he’ll have lots of new stuff tomorrow. It’ll be worth anything you’ve got.” Ricky tried to convince her. He was afraid she would stop using drugs, and then he’d have to find another “bank”. “Okay, I’ll see what I can do.” She said. Delta Rho ranch and stables
“You lay down. I’ll do the dishes.” Jim told Sammy Jo after they finished dinner.
“Are you sure?” Sammy Jo asked while sitting on the couch. “Positive!” Jim smiled and began taking the dishes into the kitchen, when he heard Sammy Jo crying out suddenly. “Sammy Jo? What’s the matter?” He hurried back to the dining room and noticed Sammy Jo lying on the couch, twisting with pain. “Sammy Jo!”
