Jim’s apartment

Ashley changed into her nightgown while LB brushed his teeth in the bathroom. He was still moody after the cold talk he had with Blake this morning, and Ashley tried to encourage him.

“Are you sure you don’t want to spend the night at the mansion?” She asked him.

“Yes… I’ll rather be here with you.” He called back from the bath. “Besides, I’m not sure I want to bump into grandpa now. He is so different. You should have seen his expression when he realized Christmas was a charade.” He washed his face and then joined her in bed.

“It wasn’t a charade, LB, and I’m sure he’ll forgive you. He’s just angry right now because everyone lied to him.”

“Still… I never saw him so angry, the look in his eyes. Ash... I feel so guilty for not telling him the truth myself.”

“How did he find out?”

“I don’t know. But it doesn’t matter anymore. He knows. I just hope it won’t change our relationship. I love him so much.”

“I know you do, honey. But I don’t think you have a reason to worry. It will pass in a few days, and everything will be back to normal. Now come here… let me cheer you up.” She smiled and went up on him.

“Ash…” LB wasn’t in the mood.

“Shh” she hushed him. “No talking” she said and kissed him.

Blake and Krystle’s bedroom

Krystle came out of the bathroom, when Blake walked into the room.

“Good evening, darling.” Blake said, walked over and kissed his wife. Krystle felt more relaxed when she realized that Blake was calm.

“Krystle, I would like to talk with you and straighten things out between us.” He said immediately. “We’ve exchanged some hard words in the last few days and I don’t want that anymore.”

Krystle felt relieved now. She threw her arms around him. “Yes, you’re right.” She said. And as far as Krystina is concerned, Blake, I’m sure she’ll come back home soon. She’ll eventually realize who Kyle really is and will leave him.”

“I certainly hope so.” Blake grumbled and frowned. Thinking about his daughter lying in this man’s arms, made him angry. “Darling, I also wanted to talk to you about Patricia.”

Krystle guessed it would come soon or later. Blake never kept secretes from her, and she hoped he would talk with her eventually about Patricia. But she didn’t want to hide her visit at Patricia’s either. “Blake, I already know. I went to see her this afternoon.” Krystle said, but immediately regretted it when she saw her husband’s expression change.

“What for?” Blake couldn’t figure out what Krystle’s intention had been.

“I told her to stay out of our lives.” Krystle tried to explain.

“What?” Blake snorted. “Why did you do that? There was no need for such an interaction. I thought I told you, that Patricia doesn’t mean any harm.”

“Blake, how can you know that? You haven’t seen this woman for the last twenty-five years. And you must admit that those anonymous gifts were rather a strange way for a so called old friend to reappear.” Krystle’s voice had risen too.

“Still, you had no right to do that.” Blake bellowed. “I might not have seen her in a while, but I know her. She’s a very spontaneous person.” He stated and made a gesture with his hand.

“But Blake...” Krystle couldn’t understand that Blake refused trying to see her point at least.

“Now tell me, what is this really about? Is it about my past with Patricia or are you worried that she’s back to try to win me back?”

“I’m not letting another woman from your past try to destroy our lives Blake.” Krystle finally said in an angry tone. Blake sighed.

“Darling, after all what we’ve been through together, you should trust me.”

“I do trust you, Blake. You know that. It’s Patricia that I don’t trust. Just be careful with that woman. Please?” She asked him. Blake didn’t answer. He just held her in his arms and hugged her strongly.

Denver Memorial Hospital

“I need help!” Jim screamed as he entered the hospital with Sammy Jo in his arms. The ER was hectic.

“Dr. Martinez, here, put her down on this bed.” A nurse showed him the bed.

“Sammy Jo? Honey, can you hear me?” Jim tried to wake her up.

“What happened, doctor?” Dr. Kay asked as she approached him.

“We were having dinner and she just collapsed. I checked her vitals, she’s fine. But the babies…”

“What week is she?” The Doctor continued asking as they wheeled Sammy Jo into one of the ER rooms.

“She’s in her 27th week I know how critical it is.” Jim sighed.

“Alright, now please let us do our job. Nurse Jenkins, call Ms. Reese’s OBG!” The Doctor continued.

“Dr. Martinez, please!” The nurse asked him to leave.

Jim sighed and walked out.

The Carrington Mansion – the next morning

Krystle finished eating breakfast alone. Blake was still sleeping, and she didn’t want to wake him up. She went out from the kitchen into the hallway, and noticed Fallon stepping downstairs.

“Good morning, Fallon.”

“Hi, good morning. Is daddy awake?”

“No, he’s still asleep.”

“Is everything okay between you two?” Fallon asked.

“That’s what I wanted to talk with you about. But not here, let’s go to the library.” Krystle suggested.

“What is it?” Fallon asked, after she had closed the door of the library. “Did you have another fight?”

“It’s not because of Blake. It’s a woman from his past ...” Krystle replied. She was a bit nervous and hoped that Fallon could clear some things up. Fallon frowned. “Does the name Patricia Harrison ring a bell?” Krystle wanted to know. Fallon had to think a few moments, before she remembered.

“She was a woman Blake dated before he married you.” Fallon tried to remember to put a face to the name.

“She’s back in town, Fallon. She was the one who sent those little gifts and flowers to your father.” Krystle said.

Suddenly it stroke Fallon. “I’ve seen her ...” She said.

“What? Where?” Krystle grew more curious than before.

“Jeff and I bumped into her a few days ago at La Mirage.” Fallon said, trying to recall the incident. “I didn’t recognize her, but I knew she was familiar. What does she want?”

“I don’t know.” Krystle sighed. “But I have no good feeling about her. I’ve talked to her yesterday. I told her to stay out of Blake’s life and warned her not to cause any trouble. I must admit, that she reminded me a lot of...”

“... my mother.” Fallon finished the sentence. Pictures of the past came back and she could remember the fights she used to have with Alexis.

Fallon remembered how much her father had been in love with Patricia. “I couldn’t stand her.” She stated.

Krystle couldn’t help but let a smile come across her lips. “You hated every woman in your father’s life. Remember the differences we had in the beginning?”

“Yes, I know.” Fallon mumbled. “But believe me Patricia was really bad for Daddy. I don't think she ever loved him the way you do. She enjoyed the status and the fame, but she didn’t really care about my father.”

“Fallon, when I talked with her yesterday, she mentioned something like you being the reason for her break up with your father.” Krystle hoped that Fallon could remember details about what had happened back then.

Memories came back to Fallon’s mind. “She was suddenly gone. It was only a few days before their wedding.” Fallon said. She knew that there was more to the story, but she wasn’t willing to go into it. “You think she is after my father again?”

“I hope not, but I can’t ignore her visit. She wants something from Blake. I know that.” Krystle said.

“Look, Jeff and I are going out. But I will try to find out more about her don’t worry.”

“Thank you. It means a lot to me.” Krystle smiled.

Denver Memorial Hospital

Steven looked at Sammy Jo sleeping. He kept remembering how beautiful and relaxed she looked when he dropped her off yesterday. Slowly Sammy Jo’s eyes opened.

“Good morning. How are you feeling?“ Steven smiled wearily.

“Steven…” Sammy Jo whispered.

“Feel better?” He asked.

“Yeah, but the doctor…” Sammy Jo began.

“Its okay, the doctor updated me. You just rest and take it easy. I’ll take care of everything. We’ll work it all out.” Steven squeezed her hand.

“Steven, you’re here?” Jim stated as he walked in.

“Yes I am.” Steven stated.

“How are you feeling?” Jim asked, approaching Sammy Jo.

“She feels better. You could at least call me when she passed out!” Steven replied annoyed.

“I’m sure you were too busy with your mother and all. I didn’t want to worry you.” Jim smiled.

“Yes, right. You know what the funny part is? She was fine when I dropped her off yesterday. You have such wonderful effect on her!” Steven shot back.

“At least I’m going to be around. I live with her, you know.” Jim answered.

“Would you two just stop it?” Sammy Jo screamed as Dr. Kay and Dr. Rosenberg entered.

“Out of here, both of you Dr. Rosenberg need to examine her.” Dr. Kay dragged them out.

“This is the last thing Sammy Jo needs, she needs relaxation and no tension.” Dr. Kay explained.

“But he…” Jim started.

“I don’t care, you two have to make sure she relaxes, call a truce or whatever. Do not upset her! Am I making my self clear?” Dr. Kay scolded them like little children.

“Yes!” They both nodded.

“Good. I don’t want anything to happen to her or to the twins!” Dr. Kay added silencing Steven and Jim. “Now, Sammy Jo will be released soon, behave yourselves!” She stated and turned around, walking back into the room.

Stapleton Airport, the Arrival Terminal

Adam and Joseph stood by the entrance of Flight 19, waiting for Dana to come off the plane. Adam was pleased that Joseph had decided to come with him. After their talk last night he was positive that Joseph would never accept Dana, but then this morning Joseph apologized for his behavior, and wanted to meet Dana very much.

Joseph felt miserable, so he called his best friend Justin Lake, he remembered that Justin had gone through a similar situation, and had gotten rid of his father’s new girlfriend as well. Joseph smiled as he thought about last night, when Justin advised him how to deal with the new station.

You start to make her look bad. Do thing behind you father’s back, stuff to make her angry with you, yell at you in front of your father, and then he will have to choose between the two of you. Joseph remembered Justin’s words.

Dana stepped down the runway and ran to Adam, dropping her carry on bag. Adam held her in his arms and kissed her softly, then noticed that Joseph looked at them.

“Oh, Dana I want you to meet my son Joseph.”

Dana bent down and stuck out her hand. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Joseph.”

Joseph took her hand and quickly shook it. “It’s nice to meet you too.” The boy answered and they walked to the baggage claim area.

“It’s great to be back in Denver, Adam, after all those years.”

“I’m glad you here. And so is Joseph.” Adam said.

“I just know we will get along wonderfully, and we will be friends in no time.” Dana smiled back to the boy.

“Sure” Joseph said. If only you knew the truth lady, you would be back on that plane right away. Joseph smiled. This was going to be difficult, but no one was going to take the place of his mother, and no one was going to take his father away.

Alexis's Penthouse

“Sergeant Harper offered his help and I've accepted. I'm sure we’ll have those charges against you dropped soon.” Steven smiled wearily.

“Thanks for you help and support, darling. I couldn't do it without you.” Alexis sighed as she put her cup of tea down.

“How are you feeling, mother?” Steven asked.

“I’m fine darling … which is probably more than you can say for yourself.” Alexis remarked, noticing that Steven looked worried and awfully tired. “What’s the matter with you?” She inquired.

Steven sighed. “It's Sammy Jo. She had to spend the night at the hospital.”

“My god, is something wrong with the babies?” She asked concerned. Even if Alexis didn’t care much for her former daughter in law, she cared deeply for her grandchildren.

“Don’t worry, they’re all fine. But Sammy Jo has to stay in bed and she’s on baby watch. That’s why I need your help.” Steven explained.

“Anything, darling.” Alexis hated seeing her son like this.

“I would like to help Sammy Jo around the ranch and I could need some time off of work. I'll be around but…” Steven pleaded.

Alexis frowned. “Alright, take all the time you need.”

“Thanks, mother. I’ll make it up to you.” Steven smiled. “Seeing Sammy Jo in that hospital bed, looking so weak made me feel helpless. What if I lose her? I can’t imagine my life without her.” Steven admitted his fear.

“I wouldn’t worry too much. Sammy Jo is a survivor …” Alexis comfort her son. Unfortunately, she thought but didn’t say it out loud, knowing perfectly well that it would upset Steven. “She'll be fine. Now go and take care of my grandchildren.”

“Thank you, mother.” Steven leaned forward and kissed her cheek.

Denver Memorial Hospital - Intensive care unit

The elevator doors slid open and Sergeant Craig Harper stepped out, followed by his partner Frank Lewis.

“Okay Craig, would you tell me finally why we are here?” Lewis asked impatiently.

“For a questioning.” Harper answered shortly, looking around and spotting a doctor at the other end of the corridor.

“Questioning whom?”

“Powers,” Harper replied, before turning and approaching the doctor.

“Wait a minute ... Zachary Powers?” Lewis grabbed his partner’s arm and stopped him. “It’s not our case anymore.” He interjected.

Harper twisted his head around. “Powers has regained consciousness. Don’t you want to know what he can tell us?” Harper paused for a moment, before he continued. “We may have made a mistake when we arrested Alexis Colby. Don’t rule that out.”

Lewis disapprovingly looked at his partner, wondering about his attitude. “What’s the matter with you, Craig? Somehow you’re taking this case personally. Why?”

Harper brushed his comment off. “That’s ridiculous.”

“Really, is it?”

“Yes. I’m simply trying to do my job.” Harper almost shouted at his partner, a hint of nervousness evident behind his eyes.

His partner’s reaction confirmed Lewis’s suspicion that for Harper this case meant something more. Lewis thought highly of his younger partner. They were a team for almost six years. Harper was conscientious, fair, and Lewis knew he could always count on him. But something was odd about him. For reasons Lewis’s didn’t know Harper kept his private life very shut. He never talked about it.

“Is it Alexis Colby?” Lewis asked, wondering if Harper felt attracted to the woman he arrested. “I admit she’s very attractive, but with all respect she could be your mother, Craig.”

Harper felt uneasy. What was he supposed to say? He could impossibly tell him that he had an affair with Steven Carrington. “It’s nothing of what you think, Frank.” Harper said wanting to stop his partner’s interrogation.

Lewis grinned and shook his head in disbelieve. “Alright, if it’s so important to you, let’s visit Powers. But on one condition.” He added firmly.

“Being what?”

“I’ll question him.”

Harper nodded his head. “Okay.”

“Excuse me,” Lewis asked a passing nurse. “Where do we find Mr. Powers?”

“Fifth door on the left” She replied politely, motioning in the direction.

Harper and Lewis walked up to the door of Zach Powers’ room and pushed it open.

Zach lay in his bed, wired to a monitor. His eyes fluttered open and then closed again.

“Mr. Powers, sir ...” Lewis tried to get his attention.

Zach weakly opened his eyes again and looked up at him.

“I’m Sergeant Lewis, homicide squad. And that’s my partner Sergeant Harper. We’re glad you doing better, sir.” The police detective said, while his partner prepared a small video camera. “We need to ask you a few question, Mr. Powers. Do you think you’re able to answer them?” Lewis continued.

Zach squint his eyes in pain and moaned a little.

Lewis and Harper exchanged concerned looks. Lewis wasn’t sure if they should go on. Harper sensed his partner’s doubts and took over. “Do you remember who shot you, Mr. Powers?”

“Yes.” Zach managed to whisper.

Just in this moment, the door was pushed open and Zach’s doctor walked in. “What’s going on here?” He asked annoyed.

The two police detectives turned around to face him. “I’m Sergeant Harper, homicide squad.” He said, showing his identification badge. “We need to question Mr. Powers.” Harper explained.

“I’m sorry, I’m going to have to ask you to leave. This man is in serious condition, and I won’t give you permission to question him.” The doctor objected firmly.

“Mr. Powers is an important witness. He’s the only one who can clear Mrs. Colby ...” Harper stated, not willing to give in.

The doctor held up his hand and interrupted him. “Listen, he’s my patient and I’m responsible. I’ll let your department know when Mr. Powers is fit to be questioned.” He insisted and asked the two men to leave the room.

Denver Carrington building – Blake’s office

Blake took a deep breath when he entered his office and looked around. It felt good to be here again. Even though he had enjoyed relaxing and taking some time off the last few weeks, he was happy to go back to the office.

He walked over to the desk and sat down. Blake was proud, when he thought about the company he had built and led successfully so many years. He remembered the very beginning, when he had been working on the oil fields all day long. Almost every day he got home late at night, covered in dust and oil. His hands used to be so full of blisters that he had stopped counting them. But every night, when he had lain exhausted in bed, Blake had kept in mind why he was doing this - to turn his small company into one of the world’s leading Oil Company.

Now, looking back at all those years, Blake knew that he had made it. He had gotten everything he had ever dreamed of as a young man. One could say that he had climbed the rocky road of success with its highest highs and lowest downs. But now he was standing on the peak of the mountain, looking back at the way he had climbed.

Blake smiled again and looked over to the sideboard with pictures of his family. He stood up, walked over and picked up a picture that showed his two grandsons, LB and Danny grinning into the camera. The two boys were the future heirs of Denver Carrington, once they were grown. Blake remembered Fallon’s words from their last conversation and his smile faded.

“Daddy, just remember how long you’ve waited for the moment to lay Denver Carrington into the hands of the next generation...”

He put back the picture on the desk and looked at the honor certificates that he got during the years from different organizations. Is it really the time to retire now and let the young generation to lead Denver Carrington?

Delta Rho

Krystina knocked three times on the door before she heard Sammy Jo’s saying “yes”. She had called this morning, and had heard from Steven that Sammy Jo was in the hospital. Steven had calmed her that everything would be fine, and Sammy Jo would be back home later in the day. She decided to stop by and check on her.

“Hi, Sammy Jo, I hope I don’t disturb you.” Krystina said when she walked in the room.

“No, of course not, come in. How are you?” Sammy Jo asked, sitting up in bed.

“I should ask you the same question. I was so worried when Steven told me what happened. Are you alright?” She took a seat next to the bed.

“Yes, I’m fine. I just need to rest a little bit. I’m not twenty anymore, you know.”

“Well, you certainly look like.” Krystina smiled.

“Yes, right.” Sammy Jo smiled back.

“Can I bring you anything, maybe some tea?” Krystina asked.

“No, honey I’m fine. Jim and Steven are taking care of me. You should see them, like two little boys.”

“Still fighting over you?”

“I guess. The doctor warned them no to upset me, so they’re trying no to argue in my presence. But I assume they are arguing when I’m not around. But enough talking about me. How are you? Krystle told me you talked with Blake?”

“Yes,” Krystina nodded. “And believe me, I’m so sorry that I did. I should have listen to my mother and let her do the talking. Now he’s so mad at me, not to mention that somehow he found out about the retirement, plus the romance LB has with Ashley. I just hope it won’t cause him any damage. He is still weak.” Krystina said sadly.

“Blake is tough. And he has survived worse things. He will be fine. How is Kyle? You two are getting along?”

“Yes, we are.” Krystina knew that like everybody else, Sammy Jo didn’t like her husband, despite the fact she tried to hide it and helped her when. “I know that everybody is waiting to see our marriage to fail, but it won’t happen, Sammy Jo. He is really trying. He found a new job, you know?”

“Really?” Sammy Jo was glad. “Where?”

“Something with sales, he started only yesterday and already came back late at night. I let him sleep today. He was so tired, so I left him a note that I’m here.”

“I can tell that you’re happy.”

“Yes, I am. I even learned to cock.”

“Really?, You ...?” Sammy Jo was amused.

“Yes! I could fix you dinner if you want.” Krystina stood up.

“Well, it’s certainly tempting, but I’ll pass.” Sammy Jo said and they both laughed.

“I’m glad that you are fine, Sammy Jo. I’ll go now and let you rest. Just let me know if you need something, okay?”

“Sure, sweaty. Thank you for dropping by.”

“Always” Krystina smiled and walked out. When she stepped downstairs, she met Ashley who just walked in, holding bags from the supermarket. “What are you doing here?”

“Well, hello to you too, Krystina. How are you? It’s wonderful to see you.” Ashley said sarcastically and was about to go into the kitchen, but Krystina stopped her.

“If you came to check on Sammy Jo, you can go. She’s sleeping and doesn’t need you around.” Krystina shot at her.

“I’ll let Sammy Jo decide that!” Ashley tried to push Krystina aside, but Krystina didn’t give up and blocked her way. “Excuse me; I want to put the things in the kitchen!”

“Oh, so now you are doing shopping for Sammy Jo?” Krystina raised her voice.

“I’m really trying here, Krystina.”

“Of course you are trying, trying to slip again back into this family! First you put your fingers on Danny then manipulated LB to sleep with you, and now you are trying to work on Sammy Jo!”

“It’s not true!”

“The hell it is! But let me tell you something. Sammy Jo is not as gullible as Danny or LB, and neither am I. Not to mention my father. Now that he knows the truth about you, it’s only a matter of time before he’ll convince LB to dump you!”

“Really, like he convinced you to leave your husband?” Ashley shouted back.

“Leave my husband out of this!”

“You started it!”

“And I’ll finish it! Don’t think I’m not watching you, Ashley. Because I am! And I’ll be the first one to gloat when LB will banish you from our lives.”

“It’ll never happen, LB loves me!” Ashley shot back.

“LB loves the idea he has sex available, nothing more. The moment he finds someone else, you’ll be history. Nobody will remember you, Ashley. No one!” She said and left stormily.

The Carrington Mansion

“Hi mom, dad.” LB greeted Fallon and Jeff who just walked into the mansion.

“Hey, son. What are you up to?” Jeff asked, closing the umbrella and taking off his coat. “Here, let me help you.” He helped Fallon to take off her coat.

“Everything’s fine. Where’ve you been?”

“Oh, some errands. We also stopped by the hospital to check on Miles.” Fallon answered.

“How is he?” LB asked.

“He looks good, but I guess we’ll know more after the surgery. You here with Ashley?” She asked. Jeff had told her about the talk LB had with Blake yesterday.

“No, I wanted to talk with grandpa. I feel horrible for what happened.”

“LB, give your grandpa have some time. It’s difficult for him. Don’t push him.” Jeff suggested and turned to Fallon. “I’m going to take a shower, honey.”

“Sure, I’ll be up in a minute.” Fallon replied. Jeff went upstairs. “Honey, your father is right. Grandpa has a lot of things to think about, but I’m sure he’ll understand that we did it all for his sake. He just needs time, that’s all. You know how much he loves you, and Lauren. You have nothing to worry about.” She clamed him, as Lauren showed up, all smiling.

“Hey, did someone mention my name?” She asked cheerful.

“Well hello! Where have you been all day?” Fallon asked her daughter.

“Home” Lauren said and turned to LB. “What’s up, bro? Where’s your girlfriend? Or we should still keep it in a secret?” Lauren joked, but LB didn’t find it funny.

“You watch your mouth, Lauren!” He said annoyed and went upstairs.

“Something I said?” Lauren asked Fallon, still smiling.

“Lauren!”

“Okay, okay. Mom, I need some money.”

“What for?”

“We are having a party in school. I want to buy some new clothes.” Lauren lied.

“We bough you plenty of cloths for Christmas.” Fallon exclaimed.

“Oh, come on. I can’t wear this dress for a party. I need a new one!”

“Your father won’t like it.” Fallon reminded her.

“Please?”

The Library, one hour later

“Blake, here you are. I was looking for you all evening.” Krystle said when she had finally found her husband. He was sitting in his old leather chair and staring into space. When his wife walked towards him, he looked up and gave her a smile.

“Where have you been?” Krystle asked. Blake rose from his chair and faced her.

“I’ve been in the office all afternoon.” He said seriously. “I wanted to prepare some things for Monday morning.”

“Blake”

“It’s okay, don’t start worrying again. I spent most of the afternoon thinking instead of working.” Blake said in a calm voice. There was a moment of silence and Blake drifted shortly off again, before he continued.

“Krystle, I have made some decisions as far as Denver Carrington is concerned. Now, I’m aware, that not everybody is going to like what I have decided, but it’s final.” Blake sounded strong and determined.

Krystle wasn’t sure what Blake had in mind. She hoped desperately that he had made the right decision.

Denver Memorial Hospital - Zach's room

Alexis talked to Zach’s doctor in the hallway outside Zach’s room.

“Things are beginning to look up. Mr. Powers’ condition is still critical, but there are signs of improvement.” The doctor said.

“Thank god.” Alexis was relieved.

“You may see him for a few minutes.” He gave her permission.

Alexis thanked him and entered Zach’s room quietly, not wanting to startle him. She sat down on the edge of the bed and leaned over him. “Zach ...” She whispered.

Zach’s eyes opened at the sound of her voice.
Their eyes met and Alexis gripped his hand. All her hatred for Zach had faded away. Their differences had become meaningless. Caress’s actions to take revenge on them both had changed everything. Alexis was glad that Zach had survived his injuries, and she was relieved that he had finally regain consciousness. She needed him now.

“Alexis,” he managed to speak her name, but his voice was weak.

“Thanks god, you’re alive. I was terrified ...” She stopped, not wanting to finish this thought. “Caress tried to play us off against each other, and she almost accomplished her goal.”

“I know ...” He said. It was hard for him to get the words out.

A nurse, who entered the room to check on Zach, interrupted their conversation. “Good evening.” She greeted Alexis politely. “It’s late Mrs. Colby. Mr. Powers need his rest.” She asked Alexis to leave.

Alexis didn’t like to take orders from somebody else, especially not from staff. But she complied with her request and got up. “You’re going to be fine, Zach. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Don’t let me wait ...” Zach whispered hardly recognizable and managed a weak smile.

Alexis returned the smile and turned to leave. She opened the door, but hesitated and turned around a final time. “Hang on, Zach. I need you.” She said, before exiting the room.

Alexis felt relieved as she went for the elevator. She pushed the button and waited for the doors to open. Suddenly her eyes caught movement on the other end of the corridor. Medical staff was running down the hallway toward Zach’s room. Fear crept up inside her. Alexis rushed back. She reached Zach’s room and pushed the door open, hearing the shrill beep of the heart monitor.

“Oh god, Zach ... no” She screamed, and we… FADE OUT….
