Denver Memorial Hospital- outside Miles’ room
Amanda walked slowly down the pure white hospital corridor; she was truly happy for the first time in months. She paused as she entered the room, where Miles lay. “Is he really awake, or am I dreaming.” She said aloud, and pushed the thoughts away and opened the door. Miles lay on his bed with his eyes closed, the monitors all around in their steady drone beeping, Amanda’s heart sank, until Miles opened his eyes and turned his head towards the open door. “I thought you’d never come.” Miles said Amanda rushed to his side holding him while she cried. “Well, I know I’ve looked better, but it’s nothing to cry over.” He smiled. “Oh Miles, I though it was a dream, I was here yesterday, and I saw it with my own eyes, but for an instant there I thought that you were still in a…” “Still in a coma” Miles said looking far off.
“Yes” Amanda wiped away her tears. “I’m a fighter, Amanda I’ll be fine.” Miles smiled “But you still have a long way to go.” Sable said form the open door, she walked in and over to Amanda and placed her hand on her shoulder. “Please talk some sense into him” “Your mother’s right, you shouldn’t strain yourself.” “Now I have two mothers.” Miles laughed and shook his head. “Darling the specialist will be here in tomorrow, you should get your rest.” Sable said. “I’m fine mother.” Sable shook her head, and turned to Amanda. “I trust that you will see he gets some rest.”
“I will.” “Good, at least one of you is thinking clearly.” She kissed Miles and then walked out of the room. Sable turned and looked at the two very carefully. Miles was awake, and that was good, but in the days to come things was going to get tough and she hoped that her family was ready for the fight. “Well, now that mother is gone, how about you hop in here with me.” Amanda laughed, “Miles would you be serious, you are in the hospital, you need an operation, and I need for you to get better.”
“Why?” “So you can come back to me, be with me in every way.” “I love you Amanda Carrington.” He reached his hand to her and kissed it. “And I love you too.” she said, smiling. Alexis Colby’s Penthouse
Alexis tossed and turned in bed, having a nightmare about the upcoming trial. She saw herself sitting in the witness stand and being examined by the prosecuting attorney. “Mrs. Colby, isn’t it true that you hated your sister and you wanted her dead? Why don’t you save us a lot of time and spare yourself further humiliations and confess? Confess that you killed her!” The man yelled at her. “Everybody knows that you did it!” “No ... I’m innocent ...,” Alexis whispered in her sleep. The dream went on. She saw the judge, addressing the jury. “Mr. Foreman, have you reached a verdict?” “Yes, Your Honor, we have.” The foreman answered, handing the paper to the bailiff. He took it and handed it over to the judge, who unfolded it and read the verdict with a blank expression on his face, before giving it back to the bailiff, who handed it back to the foreman. “The defendant will rise for the reading of the verdict.” The judge ordered. Alexis stood up, facing the jury. The foreman began to read. “In the matter of the State of Colorado verses Alexis Colby, charged with the murder of her sister Cassandra Morel and the attempted murder on her former fiancé Zachary Powers, we the jury find the defendant GUILTY AS CHARGED.” “No!” Alexis screamed out, waking up with a start and sitting upright up in bed, breathing heavily. She frantically looked around the room, temporarily unaware where she was. Slowly she realized that it had been a dream ... just a bad dream. She pulled back the sheets and got out of bed, making her way into the bathroom. She turned on the cold water and refreshed herself. Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she dried her face with a towel, before she walked back into the bedroom. She felt terrible. Her head was aching. She crossed the room to the vanity, opened a drawer and retrieved a box of aspirin. She took the glass of water that stood to the side of the vanity and swallowed one of the pills. As Alexis put the pills back in the drawer, something caught her eye. She pulled out a small framed photograph of her and Dex on their wedding day that she had kept all these years. She looked at the picture and thought about all of the good times they had together. She missed him. She missed the closeness they had shared. ![]() She closed her eyes and instantly remembered the last time Dex had been here in this room ... in her bed. That night she had hoped they could grow close again, but when she woke up the next morning, he was gone. He had returned to Sable as if nothing had happened, and realizing that it obviously hadn’t meant anything to him. Alexis’s mind went to her conversation with Amanda. Dex and Sable were going to get married. She couldn’t believe it. Having an affair with her cousin was one thing, but the image that Dex ever would marry another woman was beyond Alexis’s understanding. She put the photo back inside the drawer and walked to her bed. She shouldn’t be thinking about Dex, because every time she did, she found herself thinking about how good it felt when he touched her. She never had experienced anything like that kind of love with another man and she wasn’t sure if ever would feel like that again unless. . . Turning off the light, she crawled under the sheets. She pulled them up around her, trying to create the warmth that can only come from having someone else in bed. It was always in the darkness that the loneliness started to creep on her. She hated to lie alone in her bed. But even if she couldn’t have Dex, she could dream of him. She closed her eyes and memories turned into fantasy... The Mansion- breakfast nook, next morning
Krystle was already stirring her coffee for minutes now. She was lost in her thoughts about the fight she and Blake had last night. Blake hadn’t said a word to her, since then. Krystle’s heart felt heavy. She had thought that the family would finally find some peace after all that had happened during the last few months. “Good morning, Krystle,” Fallon said cheerfully as she and Jeff entered. They didn’t have any idea of the incident last night. Krystle looked up and tried to smile. “Morning,” she mumbled. Jeff and Fallon threw a look at each other and immediately sensed that something was wrong. “Are you ok?” Fallon asked and sat down, while Jeff poured them some coffee. Krystle knew there was no way in hiding her sad mood. Fallon would dig until she’d found out about what was bothering her stepmother. “You’re father and I had a fight last night.” “What about” Jeff asked and wondered if Krystle had finally told Blake about the retirement. Krystle sighed. “It was about Krystina. She told him about the marriage with Kyle.” “What?” Fallon’s voice rose.
“How could she do that? She knew how upset Daddy would get.” Fallon was angry now with her younger sister. “Well, she had to do it sooner or later,” Jeff replied. Fallon turned around to her husband and gave him an angry look. “Now don’t defend her Jeff. She should have kept it to herself.” “Come on, Fallon, he would have found out sooner or later. It was better he learnt it from her than form some stranger.” “Not if she had her marriage annulled, like she was supposed to,” Fallon was getting angrier. “Fallon is right, Jeff,” Krystle said. Although she loved Krystina very much, she couldn’t accept that her daughter was being so stubborn.
In the background, Lauren was sneaking down the staircase while Krystle, Fallon and Jeff were discussing Blake. She was hoping that nobody would notice her. The only thing on her mind right now was to call Ricky. But before she had reached the phone at the end of the staircase, her father caught a glimpse of her and stood up. “Please excuse me. I have to take care of our young lady and see that she doesn’t cause any more trouble.” “I’m sorry Lauren.” “You sorry, huh? I was waiting for you almost all night and all you can say is sorry?” Lauren shouted into the phone. She waited for Ricky for hours last night, expecting him to come like he had promised – until she had fallen asleep. “I don’t want to hear your excuses, Ricky. I don’t care... No, you listen, you promised something and you are going to keep that promise, understood, I want to see you tonight.... I don’t give a damn, cancel it!” she ordered him. “Lauren?” she heard Jeff’s voice coming from the kitchen. “I’m right here!” she called, “I have to go now, you be here in time, you got that?” she hang up just in time before Jeff entered the hall. “Who was on the phone?” he asked. “Oh, it was only a friend from school. Are we going now?”
“What time will you be finished today?” “About three o’clock” “Good. I’ll pick you up” “Why?” “You know the answer to that question, young lady. Come on, let’s go” he walked to the door. Lauren, disappointed, took her bag and walked after him. Krystina and Kyle’s apartment Though the window was close, it seemed like the rain outside mixed with Krystina’s tears. She could barely sleep last night. When she came back form the mansion, Kyle was already sleeping. She didn’t want to wake him; she knew he would be upset when he heard what happened with her father. He was right. Blake was angry more then ever she had ever seen him. And now she wasn’t the only one who had gotten into a fight with him, she knew that the lies would cause problems between both her parents. She hated herself for doing that. She just wanted some happiness. Was that so wrong? Kyle moved his hand around the bed, looking for her when he woke up. When he didn’t sense her next to him, he opened his eyes and saw her standing next to the window. He left the bed and joined her, grabbing her from behind and kissing her neck. “Good morning” he whispered in her ear. “Hey…” she turned around, trying to hide her tears. “I guess I fell asleep… I’m sorry” he said while kissing her again. “It’s okay,” she whispered.
“It didn’t work, hmm?” he guessed by the look in her eyes. “I’m so sorry, Kyle. I really thought he‘d try to understand. You were right. He didn’t want to hear me. He was so angry at me, I never saw him so angry, it scared me so much” she said and with that let her feelings storm out. He gently caressed her hair and held her in his arms. “It’s all right, honey… I’m sure he’ll forgive you eventually. It was just a big shock for him, he will understand” “No, he won’t. I couldn’t even talk to him Kyle; and what’s worse is that my mother is angry with me too. I let her down, I let them both down… oh, Kyle… what are we going to do, now?” she cried. “We’ll find another way, I’ll talk with Mr. Cohen again, and maybe he’ll listen” he tried to encourage her. “But what if he doesn’t? He’ll kick us out tonight, Kyle… Where are we going to stay?” she asked him, but Kyle didn’t answer. They both felt lost… Delta Rho Ranch and stables
“I don’t want to hear it, Steven. So Jim had someone tell you the appointment was changed, that’s why you were late. Fine, I believe you. Jim is walking again, that’s nice. I can handle him.” Sammy Jo stood up. “Sammy Jo, I’m just trying to prove to you that Jim is bad for you, that’s all.” Steven pleaded. “Gee, Steven I think your mother’s behavior is beginning to effect you. This behavior is so unlike you. I expect Jim to act the way he has. After all he plans to do anything to have me, which is more than I can say for you.” Sammy Jo stated. “That’s not fair Sammy Jo, I’m doing my best here.” “No you’re not, you’re so busy with your mother and your job that you forget you have a personal life.” Sammy Jo shook her head.
“Mother needs me Sammy Jo, which is more than I can say for you.” Steven answered back. “She always needs you. Don’t you see I want things to be different this time? I’m sick and tired of being last on your list.” Sammy Jo signed. “Your not last on my list. “ “Yes I am! Along with your personal life. Tell me when was the last time you talked to our son?” Sammy Jo asked Steven didn’t answer. “You get so caught up in your mother’s life and ColbyCo that you forget everything else. When was the last time you went out or visited friends?” Sammy Jo kept asking. “But Jim…” Steven began. “I can handle Jim! At least he’s trying to change. You are doing absolutely nothing. If you are the father of these babies and you want to be a part of their lives, things have to change, and I suggest you start now before it’s too late.” Sammy Jo sat down. “Things will be different this time I promise.” Steven pleaded. “I wish I could believe you but so far, they haven’t been any thing different.” Sammy Jo’s face twisted in pain. “Sammy Jo, are you ok?” Steven noticed Sammy Jo was experiencing major pain. “I’m fine, just leave me alone.” Sammy Jo stated. “Are you sure? You don’t need anything?” Steven asked. “No, I’m fine, go away.” Sammy Jo added. “I can’t win with you. I’m getting you some water.” Steven headed toward the water pitcher. “Steven I can take care of myself!” Sammy Jo stood up. “No, you don’t. Sit down and let me take care of you. You’re so moody and cranky. Sit” Steven handed her a glass of water. “I’m allowed to be, I’m pregnant.” Sammy Jo stated causing Steven’s pale face to brighten up and smile.
The new headquarters of Dexter International Dex Dexter was in the middle of moving his business from Wyoming back to Colorado, since Denver was the place he and Sable wanted to stay for now. Dexter International was doing considerably better than a few months ago, but the company wasn’t out of their problems yet. With the loan of Bloomfield & Grant they had regained solvency temporarily, and they had gotten the means to develop and exploit the Brentwood land, regarding to the geological survey an oil field with the potential to produce thousands of barrels a day. The idea was that with the operation of this filed they would get the ready cash they needed for the funding of their other projects, and would get the money for the repayment of the loan. But the geologist had made a mistake. Dex’s people had to drill much deeper than the survey said. For that reason, the production costs were higher than expected and they had started later to actually drill any oil than calculated. The company was behind their calculation, and Dex was unable to pay back the loan in time. He only hoped that the bank would accept his request for an extension of time limit. The phone rang, and Dex picked it up. “Yes Maggie.” “The bank is on line one” “Thank you Maggie,” Dex took a breath, hopefully things would start to look up.” La Mirage - “The Colorado Lounge”
Fallon walked into the newly designed “Colorado Lounge” she smiled, the room had been designed after the concept of the famed lounge in Stephen King’s book The Shinning. She smiled as she walked directly over to a table occupied by Roman Rameries. Roman stood taking Fallon’s hand and kissing it, “Ah my lovely partner.” “Good morning Roman.” Fallon sat down looking around the room; it was modeled in the traditional Rookies style. “This place looks fabulous.” “Yes Meyers did a terrific job.” Roman picked up his wine glass. “I’m sure it will be the toast of Denver.” “Well, I hope you are right.” Fallon said taking one last look around. “When will I finally get to meet our silent partner?” Roman said indicating Sable Colby. “Sable should be here in just a few moments, I’m sure she went to the hospital to see her son again.” Roman took out a cigarette started to light up. “I’m glad the he is out of danger.” “He’s awake, but things are far form over.” Fallon said, as she placed her order with the waiter. “I see that you are taking this rather well.” “What?” “Sable coming back so soon, I mean she owns 50% of La Mirage.” “Yes, and you control her shares, I know it” Roman said. He was still upset to learn that Fallon, and her attorneys had neglected to inform him that he was only buying 25% of Fallon’s 50% leaving the split Fallon 25%, Sable 50%, and he with the remaining 25%, but he was glad that his foot was in the door, and that was all he needed. “I am looking forward to meeting her.” “Well you won’t have to wait long, there she is.” Fallon stood up, and hugged Sable. “How is Miles this morning?” “He’s doing well, Amanda is with him.” Sable turned to Roman “And you must be Mr. Rameries.”
Roman looked stunned. He was taken aback by Sable’s stunning beauty. “Please call me Roman.” “Well let’s sit down” Fallon suggested. “Fallon, the place looks marvelous; I’m surprised that you have gotten things along so fast.” Sable remarked. “Well it’s thanks to Roman.” Fallon indicated to her partner. “I thank you Roman, I own the Carlton hotel, but La Mirage holds a special place in my heart.” She said remembering a time when Blake asked her to buy a half interest in the hotel. “Will you be coming back full time?” “No, I think you and Fallon are doing a fine job, I just came here to look at the progress, and see the plans for the west wing.” “Well, after lunch we will go to the office and look them over.” Fallon said, they started talking about the wedding, and Roman stood up and excused himself. “He sure is charming Fallon.” “He does have sex appeal, but there is something about him.” she answered. Roman walked over to the bar, pulled out his cell phone, and dialed a number. “Mr. Jefferson, I want you to check on my next conquest. I want all the information you have on Sable Scott Colby.” The Carlton hotel- Patricia’s suite
Patricia felt comfortable. She had finally talked to her big long lost love Blake Carrington. Actually she had expected that Blake would get mad at her or even throw her out of the house, but the contrary had happened. All those years, Patricia had known deep down inside that once she was back in Denver and seeing Blake again would be far form enough. And now she was back in Denver, in a luxurious hotel, on the sofa and was enjoying her Martini Dry. Then she picked up the phone and dialed. “Chris, darling, it’s me Patsy” Patricia chirped into the phone. “Patricia! Where the hell are you?” Chris barked back. For days he hadn’t heard a word from his boss and partner, while he did everything to keep the company together. “You were supposed to be back here two days ago. I’m drowning in work here and our partners insist on a meeting!” “Calm down Chris, I trust you and I know you’re handling things well. It will take me a few more days until I can come back home.” “Have you finally talked to Carrington?” Chris wanted to know. “As a matter of fact I have. I’ve been to his house two days ago but I didn’t get a chance to tell him though. It wasn’t the right time.” Patricia said and took another sip of her Martini. “For Christ’s Sake,” Chris shouted again, “What kind of game are you playing anyway? I thought you wanted to see him to tell him the truth. Just tell him and let it be his problem.” “I will tell him when I think the time is right. You will have to leave it up to me.” Patricia’s voice had gotten more serious now. “But I don’t know for how much longer I can play the stand-in here. I’m sick and tired of calling meetings off and telling our partners you’re sick.” “Are you threatening to walk out on me” was the immediate reply. “No, but we have a business to run. You’re the boss in case you have forgotten. Our creditors have already begun to think that you are trying to fool them.” “Don’t worry, I can handle them,” Patricia said and took another sip of her Martini. “No! Patricia, if you don’t stop fooling around and clear the whole thing with Carrington, I will call him and tell him that....” Patricia had hung up. She hated when somebody told her what she had to do. Nobody ever changed her mind once she had made her decisions. There was only one time, when somebody had forced her to do something against her will. And that was 25 years ago...
Back at present: Patricia had clutched her throat now. She was in a trance like state and she frowned. This part of her life, she had tried to forget. She shook her head and took another sip of the Martini. Fallon had blackmailed her. Blake’s daughter, who hated her so much, had hired a private detective to follow her wherever she went dig in Patricia’s past. Fallon didn’t trust her and hated her for poisoning her father’s mind. And when the accident happened, the private detective had been following her and took some pictures. Patricia stood up and walked over to the window. She crossed her arms and took a deep breath. This was a long time ago as well and Patricia didn’t think that Fallon still had those pictures. No proof. And Fallon hadn’t recognized her when they met at La Mirage either. This was another plus point for Patricia. “This time nobody is going to force me to leave Blake and this town. Nobody!” An Alley Downtown Denver Making sure nobody had seen him, Kyle entered the bar and looked around. It had obviously been closed. He knew at this time of the day nobody will be there, but hoped to find the man he was looking for. “We are close, dude” a black big man showed up suddenly in front of him. “I know, I came to see Bobby” “Mr. Wagner is busy. He can’t meet you” “Tell him Kyle Roberts is here to see him” “Look, pal. Like I said, Mr. Wagner is busy” the man insisted. “Still, I’m – “ “Are you deaf or something?” the man raised his voice. “Look, it’s very important that I’ll see him, okay, I did not come here to cause any trouble– “ “It certainly looks like that; now get the hell out of here before I’ll lose it!” the man sharked. Kyle wanted to argue with him and demanding him to call Bob, but he didn’t want any problems, now that he is married. He was about to turned around and walk out of the bar when another big man around his thirty’s showed up at the room, smoking a cigarette. “Roberts!” he called and Kyle turned back. “What a wonderful surprise, what can I do for you?” he asked with a big smile. The black man looked at Bob, wondering who Kyle was. “Its okay, Billy, I’ll handle it” Bob answered and the black man walked out. “So… what brings you by, Roberts?” “I need your help,” Kyle answered.
