Chrissy walked around with the wooden stake in her right hand, a fearful look on her face.
Francisco, Allen, and Danny all had the stake in their pockets so now one would see them as murderers. But Chrissy didn't see it that way. She was scared; not of vampires, but of thieves and murderers.
"Chrissy, put that in your pocket!" Allen said to her.
"No!" she whined, "I'm scared! I can't let go of it!"
"Shh!" Francisco said to her, "We can't let people know we're here."
"So you believe me now?" Danny asked him.
"I mean any kind of people. My aunt wouldn't like it if we were walking around town with wooden stakes. At night."
"Suuuure..." Danny teased him. He sighed. Chrissy sulked again. They began walking in silence about the streets. Few cars were driving around, but Danny had a feeling there were more people around. He could hear the sound of things following them, but he couldn't see nothing. Looking at the faces of everyone else's, he knew they were thinking the same thing. CRACK! Something came from behind him.
"Did you hear that?" Chrissy pouted.
"Yeah," Allen said. Francisco reached his hand in his pocket but kept it there.
"Chrissy!" Danny whispered, "Put that stake in your pocket NOW!" This time she listened, and in a rush she slid the stake into her pants. They stopped walking, and turned around to see what that was they heard. They saw nothing.
"Something's not right," Allen pointed out. Another sound came from behind them again, this time the direction they had been walking. Lastly, the sound of feet hitting the ground. They slowly turned around to see a man standing a few yards away, wearing all black. He had long black hair, going to his shoulder, and it was wild and curly. The shadows hid his face, but his hands were almost pale white.
"Who are you?" Chrissy yelled to him.
"Chrissy!" Allen, Francisco, and Danny said at the same time. She had spoiled whatever cover they could have gotten.
"What?" she asked. A shriek came from the man as he slowly raised his head. Crowded eyebrows, yellow eyes. Way too much skin on his face which made it overlap.
"Oh my GOD!" Chrissy screamed, and began running in the opposite path.
"CHRISSY! NO!" Danny yelled. With another shriek from the man, his razor sharp teeth were shown. He levitated slowly, and in seconds, he did a nosedive and started dropping toward them.
"DUCK!" Francisco said. Francisco and Allen ducked, but Danny was staring at the vampire.
"Vampires don't fly!" he was saying. Before the vampire could grab him, Allen jumped into the air and tackled him to the ground, the creature of the night passing by him and going after Chrissy.
"CHRISSY! LOOK OUT!" Francisco yelled at her.
"AGH!" she said as the vampire grabbed her by the shoulders and lifted her into the air.
"USE THE STAKE! GET HIS HEART!" Danny instructed her. Chrissy struggled to get the stake from her pants and stab him. His hands on her shoulder prevented that a bit. Higher and higher they rose. She tried to overrule his strength and put the stake into his body, and she did it. He roared an everlasting roar as he went belly up with Chrissy over his body and they began to plummet.
"OH!" Chrissy screamed as she fell. They fell through the trees, and sounds of bodies hitting the branches were heard, and then two shadows fell from it. Danny, Francisco, and Allen ran over to Chrissy's aid. The vampire was still roaring in pain.
"It should be dead!" Chrissy said as she crawled away from the vampire. Danny observed the vampire from a distance, as it crawled in pain.
"You missed the heart," he concluded. The vampire finally got the smarts and took the stake out of it's body. The pain stopped. It stared angrily at Chrissy.
"You staked me..." it said in a deep and sinister voice.
"Who are you?" Francisco asked. The vampire formed a menacing grin, those fangs sliding out between it's lips.
"I am Rothdar," it said, "And you are dead!" With another shriek, the vampire charged Danny. Danny jumped into the air and kicked it in the face.
"We gotta get rid of Rothdar," Francisco said. He charged it and punched it in the stomach. The vampire groaned.
"That was annoying!" it said, and put it's left hand on it's right side and released it upon Francisco's face. Francisco went flying. Danny looked at him.
"Vampires have superstrength! You gotta outsmart it!" Danny said, running over to it again. The vampire attempted a punch, and Danny had anticipated it. He ducked, and delivered an uppercut into it's chin. Francisco slowly got to his feet, his chest throbbing in pain. Allen ran over to the vampire and tried to kick it. The vampire grabbed his foot.
"AH!!" Allen said as the vampire began to twist his ankle. Chrissy took the stake out of Allen's pocket and slammed it into the rib cage of the vampire. The vampire looked at the stake with suprise on it's face.
"Well, that was rude..." it said as it's skin went brown and crusty, and fell off of it's body. It's muscle structure was already crusty and brown by the time the skin was gone, and it also fell off. Then the skeleton was left, and just like the muscles and the skin, it was brown and crusty. The skin and muscle tissue did not just fall on the ground. As it fell, it slowly lost it's form and became dust, and the skeleton followed. The dust flew in the wind, and left the scene. This all happened in a 3 second time limit.
"Eew!" Chrissy said as she watched the vampire dust and fly away. She looked away.
"Why did that happen?" Allen asked as he got back to his feet. As the vampire dusted, his foot was released and he had lost his balance.
"Because she hit the heart," Francisco said as he walked back over to them.
"Right," Danny said. Chrissy looked back at them.
"That's what happens when they die?" Chrissy asked.
"Yeah," Danny said, "Unless the are in the sun. They catch fire and then that happens. And if they burn from the crosses or hollow water they turn red from the burn and then that happens. But the crosses and the holy water have to be sufficient and never be able to get off the body or it doesn't work."
"What about garlic?" Allen said.
"That doesn't work," Danny said, "I've heard of vampires eating them for more strength."
"Ok..." Francisco said, "So...we kill them faster with stakes. But they all die no matter what we do in the sunlight."
Danny smiled. Francisco believed now. "Exactly. But they still have form as they dust. So if they have some kind of weapon, don't stay there and boast because they can kill you before they completely die themselves."
"Ok, can we go home now? We're proved there are vampires!" Chrissy said.
"Ok, yeah, let's go home," Allen said. They all looked around. Nobody seemed to have seen this fight. They ran away from the tree. Chrissy stopped, and turned around and went back. She grabbed her stake, and ran to catch up with the guys.
