Melissa swung her sword at the vampires around her. Amanda swung her pick axe. Amanda and Melissa were backed into a corner, swinging at the vampires around them. They figured if they fought together they'd have a better chance.
Chris jumped around and swung his sword madly, coming next to Shia. Shia pulled his double axe in the air and tore it through a vampire's body. The vampire dusted. Chris jabbed his sword into a different vampires chest. It dusted.
"Fall back!" Danny yelled to everyone. He, Ashley, and Francisco were in the middle of the crowd, trying to keep the many vampires away from themselves.
"Fall back?" Aaron asked.
"We have to force our way up the stairs!" Francisco translated.
"Oh!" Greg said.
"We can't move!" Melissa and Amanda screamed together.
"Where's Paulo?" Aaron asked. No one responded. Everybody was dying so quickly. Paulo had been using a Samurai sword, and since Francisco knew that Allen had gotten killed with one and Melissa was using one right now, he knew that Paulo was dead.
"Get moving!" Ashley screamed at them. They nodded. Chris and Shia swung with force, trying to get through the vampires. Such a thick crowd; it was like trying to do surgery on a person that weighed 700 lbs! They could barely see the staircase with all the vampires around.
"Shia, get out of here!" Chris yelled to him. Shia looked at him.
"What?! No! You're coming-," Shia started.
"Just go!" Chris said, swinging his sword. He slammed the sword into a vampire's chest, but missed the heart. The vampire took hold of the sword and pulled it out. Chris looked at him, unable to let go of the sword. He was in shock. The vampire tossed the sword into the air, and Chris went with it. Chris and the sword went flying into the wall, Chris' neck being snapped from the impact. Shia knew he couldn't do anything. He swung his double axe side to side, trying to get over to the staircase.
Melissa and Amanda screamed as the vampires grabbed their weapons and tossed them into the crowd.
"Fight them!" Melissa screamed as she punched the nearest one. It didn't do much. The vampires closed in on them, and Melissa and Amanda disappeared from view.
"Keep moving!" Danny said to Ashley and Francisco. They were swinging their swords around, trying to keep the vampires away as they made their way to the staircase.
"Aaron!" Greg called from the huge crowd of vampires. Both of them had arrived at the staircase, but Greg was on the other side. Aaron was swinging his double axe at the vampires. Not doing much. The vampires didn't care. They kept moving in on them, dying as they were hit.
"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" A voice called. A man forced his way over to Aaron.
"Paulo!" Aaron yelled.
"Get out of here! I can give you a 20 second window! Get up the stairs! Now!" Paulo yelled at Aaron.
"But-," Aaron started. Paulo interrupted Aaron, "Just get OUT!" Aaron nodded and sprinted up the stairs.
"Alright, you undead bastards! Come and get me!" Paulo yelled. He punched at the vampires. They all shrieked, floated into the air, and took him to the ground. He struggled to get free, but they held his hands and legs still. A female vampire sat on top of him and smiled.
"Bastard..." she said as she bit into his neck. Greg couldn't do anything. He ran up the stairs after Aaron.
"We're almost there!" Ashley smiled as they came up to the staircase.
"HELP ME!" a voice came from the crowd. A bunch of vampires had Shia pinned to the ground. He had his hands on their heads, trying to keep their heads away from his neck. Danny looked over to him.
"We gotta help him!" Ashley said.
"Leave the wounded!" Danny reminded him.
"NO! Just...I have to!" Francisco said, running away from them and pushing himself through the vampires over to Shia. He stabbed each vampire with the pointed handle, and swung the axe roughly into the rest of their necks.
"Thanks!" Shia thanked him
"Let's get upstairs!" Francisco yelled to him. He could see Ashley and Danny running up the stairs. Francisco and Shia were the only two left. The vampires all looked at them, a hungry look on their face. They were close enough to get up the stairs, but only one of them would be able to.
"Go ahead, I'll be fine," Shia said as they began closing in.
"I'm not leaving you here!" Francisco yelled at him.
"Just go!" Shia said.
"NO!" Francisco yelled. Francisco shoved him into the vampires. They were not expecting that. They stumbled back, Shia laying on top of them.
"Come get it bitch!" Francisco yelled, swinging his double axe into a vampire's heart. The vampire all turned to him. Shia got to his feet and ran up the stairs, looking back at Francisco before he got up there completely. He saw Francisco's last stand, being tackled by the vampires, as he ran up the stairs. He ran through the front doors of the mansion, knowing he was being followed by the rest of the vampires. He could hear the steps behind him. He came out into the yard, and waved to everyone.
"Hey!" he waved to them.
"WATCH OUT!" Ashley screamed to him from the gates. Danny speared him.
"What are you doing, man?" Shia asked him as he got to his feet. Danny looked at him with sorrow in his eyes. Then Shia saw what had happened. He saw the large piece of glass still tearing through the air, with blood stained on it. It let out a crash on the pavement as it broke. Then he looked back at Danny. He was split in half at the waist, his legs landing right next to his chest. His head dropped to the ground. He was over.
"Oh my god!" Greg yelled from the gates. His buddy, the buddy he had just made, was gone. In a matter of seconds.
"Keep running!" Aaron yelled to Shia. Shia nodded, and looked inside the mansion. Mary Kate and Hilary were picking up the pieces of glass from the sky dome, about throw them again. Shia left Danny behind, running over to the gates. The vampires piled out of the mansion.
"When do we get to stop?" Ashley asked as they ran.
"In 5 minutes when the sun comes up!" Aaron said to her. They ran past the mansion, the vampires floating into the air and chasing after them.
"Where are we going?" Shia asked them.
"The outskirts. No shade. That's what Danny wanted," Greg said, picking up the pace. They sun was at the horizon, but it wasn't enough to kill the vampire. They ran faster and faster, turned the block, and finally they saw what outskirts Danny had mentioned. It was like a desert, a road that led straight through the dirt. No trees were anywhere around.
"The vampires are gaining!" Ashley screamed. They were a few inches behind her.
"We're almost there!" Aaron said. Only a few more feet to go. Two shrieks came from behind them, and Greg and Ashley were lifted into the air. They kicked as they were raised by Mary Kate and Hilary. Ashley closed her eyes.
"Let us go!" Ashley cried as Hilary lowered her head to her neck. Amazingly, Hilary did. All the vampires began to shriek as Ashley opened her eyes. They had made it. They were in the outskirts, and the sun was past the horizon, the beam of the sun slamming onto all of the flying vampires. Their skin ignited in flames as they floated. And out of nowhere, the hundreds of hundreds of vampires they had been fighting became dust.
Ashley hit the dirt, and looked at the survivors. Greg, Aaron, Shia, and herself. They had lived, but the original four, the most powerful of them all, had not. The power weapons were still inside the mansion. But at that moment, neither of them cared. Out of 23 people, only 4 had survived the madness. They laid on the dirt and watched as all the vampires exploded into dust.
"So..." Greg said suddenly.
"Everybody died..." Aaron said softly.
"Do you think we got all of them?" Ashley asked.
"I don't think it matters anymore," Shia said, "We did what they wanted us to do. That's all we can do. They didn't even live through that. It's too weird...they died..."
"Hey, do you hear that?" Aaron asked. He looked behind him down the road. An ambulance was driving through the desert, sirens blazing. They all stood up and waved at the ambulance.
"Hey!" Ashley yelled as she waved, "HEY!" The ambulance came to a stop near them.
"You need some help? We can take you to the hospital in Salem," The driver said.
"There's no one there. Everyone there is dead," Shia said. The driver looked at all 4 of them one at a time.
"Uh...are you sure?" the man asked.
"Long story...no proof...but...it's true...we all saw it..." Greg explained.
"Hop in the back. Tell us about it," the driver said. They all looked at one another. He wasn't a vampire, he was driving around in the sunlight.
"Where are you going?" Ashley asked him.
"Nearest town. Just hop in," the driver said. Shia shrugged and opened the door in the back. He hopped inside, being followed by the rest of them.
"Now, what happened?" the driver asked as he drove away from Salem.
"Vampires," Shia said simply.
"For real?" The driver asked, "I knew vampires existed. I could have sworn I saw one biting on my girlfriend a few nights ago. I was hiding on the fire escape cause I'd been following her all night. Damn bitch..." the driver went into a story about his girlfriend as they drove away.
"This is gonna be a long ride..." Aaron whispered to Greg.
