Caz couldn't believe she was just about to walk up the aisle with the man she loved more than anything in the world. She was so nervous it was unbelievable. She was scared but yet so happy at the same time.
"Do you know I can not name all the big celebrities here that's strange for me don't you think?" Sam said, walking in from the hallway. Caroline looked at her and smiled. Sam had been Caz's best friend forever. She was in a series relationship with Mark Feehily. Sam still couldn't believe that she was with him. When he told her he loved her she screamed the place down. Love makes you do the wacky Caz thought. Caz was just about to say something when Gillian walked in " You ready to go?" "Hi. Yeah guess so." Caz picked up her flowers and took a deep breath she was doing her best to hide the Wiggins she had.
Caz finally came out the daze when it came to the vows. What happened to the rest of the speeches? Caz thought. She looked at Shane as he said the vows and couldn't hide the huge smile on her face. He looked really good in his suit mind you Shane always looked good.
"I promise to love you forever you are my heart and soul, my everything I couldn't face another day with you. You are my life.
"Shane we have been friends for years. You know me more than anyone in the world. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you. I give you my all."
Farther John had just got to the part that Caz had been waiting for.
" I now pronounce you man and" "BANG" a gunshot had just gone off. There was blood everywhere but no one knew where it was coming from.
". Is everyone ok? No one got hit or anything? Maybe it was one of those blood gun things that spill blood everywhere. That dyes really terrible to get out you know". Bryan said. Making a joke out it as he always did when he was nervous.
She could feel the bullet go threw her at first she didn't no what had happened then she saw the blood felt the pain. She couldn't speak. No one saw it was a real bullit or new it was her that was hit. Everyone thought it was a joke "a blood gun" she heard Bryan say. Then Shane turned and look at her she could see the fear sadness everything in his eyes in that one second. "Oh god no please god no"
Caz feel to the floor she could hear someone screaming, "Call 999 now. She's been shot"
Kian was the first at her side he looked really scared she had never seen him like that before "Caz stay with me you can't leave. Stay here don't close your eyes". "Tell Shane I'm sorry ki" "Caz stay here" but it was no good Caz was gone.
"We need to stop the blood somehow, give me that cloth now hurry up. Sam was freaked out big time. No one could do anything but just to look. "Caz you'll be ok I swear you can't get out of this wedding that easy you know" Sam went on saying, holding back the tears as much as she could. She could feel Marks hand on her shoulder god she loved it when he touched her she always felt needed loved wanted. But his touch didn't work this time she just wanted Caz to stand up and say fooled you all. "This is so typically you if something dramatic has to happen it's to you. When you see your hair your going to go nuts. She smiled as she said that Caz had spent about 3 hours doing her hair. It always had to be right.
"Move out the way please what happened here ". Ambulance guy said seeing if Caz was still breathing.
"She's been shot. We didn't know what happen" Kian said. His outfit now covered in blood.
"She is still alive but the bullet is deep we need to get her to hospital. Fast, if there is any chance of her living. Now move out the way please." Ambulance man 2 said.
As Caz floated she could feel the hot sun on her face the peace the love and happiness around her.
Then she saw him walking towards her. She could remember everything that had happened between them up to the point of the wedding. They had gone to hell and back. As Shane walked to her. She knew that something was not quite right.
Shane, Kian, Mark, Nicky, Bryan, Sam, Gillan. Were all sitting in the family room why they waited to hear about Caz in surgery?
Sam looked at the clock for the millionth time " What is taking so long, I bet Caz is really enjoying the sleep she was up at 5 this morning. God she hates getting up early. What is taking so long she's been in there ages." Sam broke down crying Mark had her in his arms within the second her lip dropped.
" Its ok honey come on I'll take you out for some air." Sam couldn't believe what Mark had just said. " Take me out for some air are you crazy my best friend is in theatre and you want to go and get some air how can you be so rude. She could die and I couldn't bear that."
The door opened and everyone stood up and looked at the doctor.
" I think you all should sit down. We have managed to get the bullet out and stabilized Miss Monk but she is in a coma. We cannot say she will get out of it. And if she did, what state of mind she would be in. We will just have to wait and see if she comes threw or not I am afraid". "Can we see her" "Yes of course Mr" The doctor didn't have a clue about his name. "Egan Kian Egan" "Mr Egan. There are lots of machines in there you can only go in one at a time and only for a little while." " Will she hear us if we talk to her" Gillian said for the first time since the accident. Her face was white like a ghost. She had been friends with her for about 2 years she owed Caz a lot. "Yes it is always helpful if you do speak it gives her more of a chance of waking up.
Her room is on the left. I will keep you all updated. I do need a contact number from one of you".
"Yes of course I will give you mine 07949582987" " You are" "Shane Filan. She is my girl" Shane just barely held the tears back when he said that. Caz meant everything to him she was his best friend his everything a world without her wouldn't be worth it. He walked into her room and almost died when he saw her. Just laying there, her face white there was no life there what so ever. "Caz please just wake up we need you I need you".
Caz didn't know where she was it was peaceful. Shane was now sitting besides her but yet there was something about him she couldn't face.
" Do you remember when we first met Shane"? " Yes I fell for you big time".
PAST YEAR 2000
"Come on Caz let's go in here I saw this pub in the Westlife video the Belfry" "Sam think small here not going to happen. And what would you do if Westlife did come in. faint properly and go speechless" Sam pouted in protests but she new Caz was right if she did see Mark she would die.
Sam and Caz had been in the Belfry for about 2 hours now they were waiting for the Karaoke to start. Caz was trying to get Sam to sing but Sam being Sam wouldn't.
Caz was just going to go up and put her own name down to sing when a guy went flying over a table and chair and landed in front of her.
" Wow I've had guys fall at my feet before, but nothing like that. Well done you". Caz smiled. She heard Sam say "oh my god its Westlife" under her breath. Shane looked up sheepishly, "Sorry. Your name is". "Caz. And this is my friend Sam. No worries you can't say you didn't make a good entrance." Shane just looked at Caz and smiled, Caz smiled back he was way more; sexy in real life than in all the pictures and videos Sam had shown her. "Sorry to interrupt but I'm Kian this is Mark. And this goof is Shane."
The next few hours went so quickly just drinking and chatting about everything. Well Caz was doing most of the talking as Sam was dead silent.
Sam was still in the "oh my god, Mark is sitting next to me stage." She was so scared of speaking just in case she said something dumb like I love you. Still Caz hadn't seen Sam so happy. As when Mark sat next to her. She would have to remember to torment the life out of Sam later on.
"Does anyone want another drink my round" Shane was saying as he stood up
"No thank you we need to go I'm afraid" Sam just looked at Caz as if to say what the hell. " Why we were having so much fun and Sam has hardly said anything." Mark piped up." Sam can stay I need to go. I'm meeting someone". Caz wasn't but she sensed something with Shane and thought she'd see if he would ask her out.
" A boyfriend" Shane was hoping Caz wasn't going to say boyfriend she was so sweet they just had this connection. " Me boyfriend yeah right. Me and Sam march proudly in the Where single parade." Thanks for that plug Sam thought let Mark know I'm single so he can take me away to paradise.
"Sam you staying or coming with" Caz didn't mind if Sam stayed she kind of hoped she would. "I'm coming I haven't seen Bob for ages"
Caz just looked at Sam as if to say Bob. "Maybe we will see you around sometime. How about tomorrow? We only have a few more days in Sligo. Since you live here maybe you show us around?" Caz was taken a back. Sam had spoken more than yes, no. And the question was more of a shock. But yet she was really glad she had, as she didn't like the thought of not seeing Shane again.
" Were not busy tomorrow how about we pick you up where are you staying? Kian asked. He seemed a bit nervous. While Sam was writing down the details to give to the guys Caz walked outside to get the car. It was a cold night. She couldn't hide the fact that her and Sam were going to see the guys tomorrow.
Caz and Sam did see the guys the next day. they even met Bryan and Nicky. They saw the guys; as much as they could they became part of the family.
THE YEAR 2002
Sam and Mark had been dating for about 6 months now. It drove Caz mad how long it took Mark to ask her out. He was just to shy to get the words out. Kian and Caz had set it all up she was surprised how close she had become to Kian over the past year. They would go out drinking together as Kian couldn't face the fact that Caz could drink him under the table. Shane and her had had a huge row over it but there were fine now a year and counting for their relationship.
It was Kian's birthday and they were all celebrating in the Pod. Dublin's finest club. Caz and Shane were chatting to Kian when Gillian walked over.
" Happy 21st Kian" Gillian said giving him a big hug " Hi gill Shane said. Caz noticed a look between Gillian and Shane then thought she was being dumb 'Shane and Gillian have been friends for ages that is it'. Caz thought. " Hi Gillian. I'm just going to find Sam, Kerry and Georgina. I won't be long." Caz kissed Shane on the lips but he didn't kiss her back.
Caz looked everywhere for Sam, Kerry and Georgina but couldn't find any of them. She was just about to make her way back to Shane when she saw Shane and Gillian Dancing it was a friendly dance a very touchy touchy dance. Caz thought about walking straight over there and demand what the heck was going on but it was Kian's birthday she was not going to do anything like that on his 22nd.
She looked around again for anyone she could talk to about what she just saw.
So Caz decided to go home without saying a word to anyone where she was going. When she did finally got home there was a frantic message on the phone from Sam " Where are you I can't get you on the mobile. You're nowhere to be found in the club. Shane is out looking for you. Call me. I'm worried. So is Shane it's not like you to disappear". " Yeah he is really worried about me. If he were he would be here wouldn't he. but is he. No he is not. He probably went of with Gillian." Caz picked up her car keys and drove to the park. She called Kian but put 141 before his number so if he were in the club he wouldn't say its Caz. "Don't speak Kian. Its Caz can you meet me at the park I need to talk to you. Please don't say I called". " Ok be there soon." Kian said a little worried. Caz put the phone down and waited for Kian.
" Was that Caz Sam said looking at Kian trying to read him" Kian was a bad liar everyone new it but he would do his best not to betray Caz's trust. "No it was Shane he wants me to go round to his just in case Caz is there." He turned on his heels as fast as he could.
" I don't believe him. Should we call Shane and tell him". Gillian said looking a bit panicked. "And say what. If it were Caz he would have said. Shane would have found her by the time Kian gets there." Sam could have hit Gillian then since she found that picture of Shane and Gillian she had been wary of her. Sam just wished she had told Caz. "Why don't we all go home there is no point staying here without the birthday boy? Nicky said taking Georgina's hand.
"Ok" Everyone said there good byes and went home.
Kian saw Caz's car ahead he parked behind it and killed the engine what was he going to tell her. He new she had seen the look between Gillian and Shane. Caz still didn't no they used to date. Shane did love Caz though.
Kian walked over to Caz's car and got in the passenger side.
" There you are we were all worried. What's up?" Caz turned and looked at him she had been crying. Kian grabbed her and gave her a huge hug. " I'm so sorry Kian it's your birthday and I've messed it up." "You haven't it has been a great birthday. Are you going to tell me what's up"?
Caz explained what happened in the club. The look between Gillian and Shane. The 'Touchy touchy dance'. "I just want to know what's up. You know them better than me," Caz said.
It was now Kian's turn to talk " Do you know that Shane and Gillian used to be an item." Caz looked at him her face in total shock "No I did not how long ago was it" " They went out when they were 8.11,15, and just over a year ago they broke up a week before we meet you in the Belfry. I'm so sorry Caz Shane should have told you. I do know Shane loves you though. You mean everything to him. When you went home after the fist day we meet you Shane told me he loved you. Love at first sight"
Caz bust out crying again. " Thank you Kian for being honest with me. I think I better go and find Shane."
Kian got out the car and went back to his. He waited for Caz to drive of. "I haven't been honest with you Caz. Shane wasn't the one to say he loved you it was me. Dame I'm such a god dame fool".
Caz didn't go straight to Shane though she went to Gillian's "Gillian we need to talk. I want the truth O.K. I know all about you and Shane and everything. Are you in love with him? Shane I mean. I need to know". Gillian was taken a back she wasn't expecting that." I'm sorry Caz but yes I am. I have always been in love with him since I was 8. But you never really know what you have till it's gone". " Your not having him Gillian he is mine it's going to stay that way. You had your chance more than enough. Its mine now and I'm not going to lose him." Caz went over to Gillian and slapped her round the face. Gillian was in total shock. What had just happened? She liked Caz she really did. But Shane was Shane.
Shane was just pulling out of a road when he saw Kian and Caz's Car parked on the road he was going to go over to them when he saw them hug. So he waited and watched. When Caz drove off he thought of going over to see what happened when his mobile rang. It was Caz. "Shane meet me at your place in about 15 minutes. I'm sorry I disappeared I will explain soon." Shane didn't get a chance to talk he would have the chance soon though.
"I was really worried about you, why the hell did you disappear?" Shane asked, "Because I saw you and Gillian I didn't know what was going on I saw the look you two had." "Me and Gillian are friends that is all we have always been friends. And. " Lovers" Caz shot back " I know Kian told me why didn't you."
Shane was shocked he didn't want Caz to know but at least he new what Kian and Caz were talking about in the car. " I love you" Shane said
That made Caz lose it " Your in love with me yeah right. Gillian. Its Gillian you are in love with. I may be blonde but I'm not that blonde. Why don't you say it." Caz looked at Shane's face she could see he was hurt but she needed to know the truth. "Shane." She said taking his hand. " I love you you're my best friend in the world. But we don't love each other in the way that either of us wants. We need to be with the person that makes us happy. We don't"
"Don't ever think I don't love you. Caz I do. I would spend the rest of my life with you. Marry me."
Ok Caz was not expecting that one. She was just about to give her answer. When She saw that it wasn't Shane saying that but the TV. The timer had come on for some reason. Probably Mae. She did that when there was a programme coming on she wanted to watch.
"Shane its over. I want to still be your friend forever. You don't get rid of me that easy you know"
Shane knew Caz was right he did love her but since Gillian had come back he new that he loved Gillian in a different way to Caz. "Your right. Friends forever. I couldn't imagine my life without you for a day." Shane said.
Now that Shane and her were not a couple anymore she felt that a weight had been lifted of her shoulders.
Caz stayed round Shane's for another hour before heading back to Gillian's home.
When Gillian opened the door she had a huge black eye Caz was guilt ridden. Gillian looked a bit worried. " Are you going to hit me again cause if you are you can leave now. thank you." Gillian went to shut the door but Caz stopped her. " Gillian I'm so sorry. I can't say that enough, but I need to talk to you. No hitting I swear." Gillian let Caz in she went to the kitchen to find Kian there.
'Oh god' Caz thought as she sat down. 'He's going to know I hit her then he will hate me forever' "Hi Kian how are you" "Ok. And you." " I'm good that is why I'm here. Gillian sit down please." " I will leave you two to talk" Kian said as he picked up his jacket and keys.
"Don't you dare, your staying". Caz said. She stood up paced the floor. " Ok how do I say this without sounding dumb. Ok. Before I start please don't say anything to I finish. Ok here goes. Shane and I have broken up it is for the best. We love each other but we don't love each other.
Gillian. Your one of my best friends. I'm sorry I hit you I was confused. But I know you love Shane he loves you too. You should be together. You and Shane both get that. I want you to go round there now and sort it out."
Gillian started crying when Caz finished "Oh my god. Caz oh my god. Thank you so much." Gillian picked up her bag and went to Shane.
Kian just looked at Caz he couldn't believe what had just happened. Caz had just got Gillian and Shane together. It didn't make sense. He would have to hide the fact the he was glad of that.
6 MONTHS LATER.
Sam was laying the table she was having Mark around for dinner. He had just got back from touring. She was really nervous about seeing him. "I wish Caz was here instead of shopping with Gillian".
There was a knock at the door it was Mark. She looked at the clock it was 5pm he was early but that was Mark for you. Sam loved Mark to bits. She opened the door Mark didn't look very happy at all.
" What's wrong" Sam said really worried why he looked pissed.
" It's us, Sam. I can not go on like this any more I think we should break up".
With that Mark was gone. Sam rushed out the door but it was to late Mark had driven off.
When Caz came home Sam was sitting in the corner of the kitchen crying her eyes out she looked like death. Caz sat down besides Sam and hugged her.
" He broke up with me, Caz, how could he do that. I thought he loved me but he didn't it was just a lie. Oh God what am I going to do".
Caz hated seeing Sam like that. She loved Mark to bits she also new that Mark loved her. "Don't worry I will sort it out go upstairs and change I will call you soon OK." When Sam went upstairs Caz was out the door as fast as she could. She went to Mark's place to be told that he was at Kian's.
Caz pulled up in Kian's drive. All the guys were there apart from Mark.
Nicky was the first to spot Caz. " Hay girl you look like you're on a mission."
" Where is Mark I swear I will ring his bloody God damn neck when I see him."
Bryan looked at her and tried not to laugh. "Calm down breath and chill. Mark has just gone to the bathroom." That was all she needed she headed in to the house. " I wouldn't go in there if I was you it will stink" Bryan said laughing.
