This was going to be the best birthday gift that I ever got Jesse. I pulled the
tape out of the video camera, after rewinding it and placed another one in. It
was labeled �Jesse and Kelsey�s First Meet.� I pushed play and watched the
frozen memory go by. I nearly cried, what I saw was he and I, no more than a few
months old, propped up in carriers. He was looking at me curiously and I was
giggling at him for no apparent reason. After the clip was done, I set the
camera down and grabbed a tablet of paper and a pen. I wrote down all the years
until fifteen and set both objects back down. I took the tape out of the camera
and set the other tape next to the first seen tape. I propped the camera up on a
chair, facing away from the TV, at my head height and adjusted myself so that I
could see myself on TV. I put in a blank mini tape and pressed record. I smiled
shortly and then started, �Jesse. Over all the years I�ve known you, we�ve
always been so close. We�ve always been there !
for each other and probably always will be. I�ve made you a tape for your
sixteenth birthday. I hope you love it, just as I loved making it.� I thought
quietly to myself for a few seconds, thinking, �Was it an emotional short
speech?� I played it back and didn�t agreed with what I had said. I truly did
care about him as if he was a brother and I knew we�d always be there for each
other, no matter what.
