I decided to work on the speech later. I passed a few more videos, lining them
up in year order. So far, I had infantry year, three, four, eight, ten, eleven
and thirteen. I only needed nine more years and I still had at least half of the
tapes to go through. I picked up another one, setting another eight-year-old
video down in the eight-year-old stack. I put another one in the camera. I
waited for it to load onto the TV screen. A girl with light brown hair with two
or three front teeth missing appeared on TV, wearing a red long sleeved shirt
and a green and white dress. Her smile was big telling people that it was
Christmas. A blond haired boy stood up, he too, missing two or three front teeth
and wearing black pants and a green top with Santas on it. He said, Look
Kelse-y! Look what I got! He held up a super hero action figure and said, Look
what it does! He pushed a button, making it say heroically, Mr. Incredible to
the rescue! The girl squealed with joy and said,!
Look! She held up a horse and said, I named her Jessica. Jesse for short. I
laughed, knowing it was when we were both five at Christmas Eve. I stopped the
tape and rewound it then set it behind the four-year-old stack. I picked up
another one and placed it in the camera. Pushing play, the screen filled with a
baseball field. I smiled as a nine-year-old Jesse stepped up to bat. In the
background, was a nine year old me standing on first base yelling, Hit it out
of the park Jester! Make these wimps look like bigger wimps! I laughed again
and then heard the crack of the bat. I saw myself dash off of first base and saw
Jesse sprint towards first, then make a run for second, right behind me. I
smiled, placing it in a new stack, between the eight and ten year old stacks.
