Knobel Seniors win many honors Miss Wanda Guy Files is valedictorian and Miss Geraldine Mason is saluatorian of the Senior Class of 1941 of Knobel High School. Miss Files is Senior Class President, editor-in-chief of the Knobel Mustang, the annual publication of Knobel High, news editor of the Arkansas Traveler, the High School paper, a member of the Glee club and the first debate team and is a member of the American Interest club. She is also co-captain of the girls' basketball team. Miss Mason is president of the American Interest club, a member of the annual staff, of the Glee Club and of the Home Economics Club. Both girls plan to enter college next fall. |

Miss Florence Ashby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milan Ashby Jr., of Knobel will be one of the valedictorians of the 1956 graduating class of Knobel High School. Bailey Bippus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Bippus of Knobel will also be valedictorian as he and Miss Ashby toed for this honor. Miss Ashby has been active in extra-curricular activities. She was a member of FFA, student librarian for four years, member of the 4-H club, State Homemaker, secretary-treasurer of Ninth grade, historian and president of FHA, FHA delegate, class reporter, vice-president of the student council and cheerleader in her Junior and Senior years. Bailey has been active in extra-curricular events. He has been active in sports, dramatics, FFA and 4-H club for four years. He attended FFA camp two years, and was vice-president of his Junior and Senior class. Bippus and Miss Ashby have been honor students all through high school. Knobel's Class of '66 announces honor grads Roberta Lou Adams and John Earl Day are honor graduates of the class of 1966 at Knobel High School, according to R.E Pogue, superintendent. Roberta, daughter of Robert L. Adams of Fredericktown, Missouri, and Mrs. Chester Sweaney, Knobel, has earned the title of valedictorian. For four years, Roberta has been a cheerleader for the Knobel Mustangs. She has also held membership in the Library club, Science club, and FHA. She had one of the leading roles in the Senior play. Roberta received both the English and math awards and plans to attend Arkansas State College. John Day is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Day and is the salutatorian. He has participated in many extra-curricular activities duringhis high school years. He served as an officer for two years in each of the following: Beta club, FFA and Library club. He was a member of the basketball team. During his Junior and Senior years he was on the Mustang Staff and served as editor during his Senior year. He was co-editor of the school newspaper and also had one of the leading roles in the Senior play. |
