AMG partnered with James Dean Racing in order to raise the standard of Korean Racing Teams. AMG��s first step in augmenting James Dean Racing was to focus the team��s approach. Since motorsports entertainment is a business, the first step for AMG was to secure outside sponsorship from companies. In order to accomplish this, AMG created a partnership for its sponsors that would allow the companies involved to benefit by being selected from only the ��best of the best��. From this plan, AMG secured sponsorships from Motorola, Yahoo! Korea, BMW Korea, SK Telecom, Castrol, and Habanos. In addition, AMG��s K & N Korea also sponsored James Dean Racing with high performance filterchargers. The sponsors represent a landmark in Korean motorsports business as it is the first time in Korea��s history that foreign international corporations have sponsored Korean racing. By securing these sponsor partners, AMG was set to embark on its next step in remolding the James Dean Racing Team into an elite professional team. AMG��s next step focused on bringing a new level of high performance to James Dean Racing. To this, AMG focused in on the most popular series, the Touring A class. Korea��s Touring A Class was meant to represent modified street cars that are available to consumers. However, AMG recognized that a problem was that the series was supposed to be representative of consumer cars but was in actuality a series comprised solely of Hyundai Tiburons. AMG worked to change that and did so by successfully entering the first foreign-made racecar in Korean Racing history -- the BMW 320i Touring Sedan. AMG choose the BMW 320i for its reputation for high performance and successful racing heritage. The BMW 320i also had the advantage of being a car of high visibility and status that allowed the sponsor partners to attach their brands to a race car that would definitely stand apart from the field. Although it had a difficult season start, the BMW 320i won the seventh race of the season and is now considered the fasting Touring Car in Korean Motorsports. Through AMG��s efforts, the James Dean Racing Team became a new force in motorsports marketing and is definitely in a field of its own when it comes to the business side of racing.
