Rockport is a trading city. Currently Rockport is engaged in several international trade deals to further its national security and provide for its people. Rockport faces a near constant demand for the following goods: food (meat, vegetables, grains), timber, stone, metal ore, and books. Traders are advised to contact merchants within Rockport for further information.

Rockport Registry of Ships - This links to a download which lists all current ships registered with the Rockport Flag of Convenience, including details & descriptions of ship classes and ship statistics.

Rockport regularly imports large foodstocks from the Dinosaur Hegemony.

The government of Rockport is seeking texts to expand the library of the Rockport Lyceum. Particular attention is being paid to adventure journals, ships logs and similar accounts of exploration, heroism and adventure; and of course to magical texts.

In 10month 1101 YAC Rockport began to trade in semi-precious stones and pearls with other Dread Sea ports. In particular bloodrock from Breezesail. As a result of this trade route there is now a thriving gem market in Rockport. The Rockport government is seeking trade contacts to expand the current gem market.

In 12month 1101 YAC Rockport begins its cordwaining industry, manufacturing ropes, threads, wicks, lines, and related finished products useful to the sailing community from raw palm materials cheaply imported from the Whispering Jungle. The Rockport government is developing the cordwaining industry to produce truly world-class products.

New Union-Rockport Trade is developed from negotiation run between the two realms in 4month. Basically Rockport teaches New Union personnel all the nuances of how to run a sky-port (including use of Rockport industrial capabilities and magical technologies, training in the use of sky craft like the Cloudpods and also the service industries concerned with running services at skyports), in return for which Rockport has access to New Union’s power crystals and reagent ores and products, as well as with timber, tar, mineral ores and herbs.

As of 4month 1102, coal for Rockport’s developing industrial complex is provided for by the up and coming realm of Chlorodar.

In 5month 1102YAC Rockport signs a treaty with the people of the Wyrmsteeth Ranges to provide Rockport with access to drake milk, gathered by the drake herders of the Wyrmsteeth Ranges. This drake milk (an important magical ingredient) is then on-sold to: the Milbourne cheese producers; the Wizard Realms (through Korenzea); and Draco-Kin Corporate.

The central location for trade within Rockport is the Grand Suq. The Grand Suq is surrounded by statues of the gods of trade. The Seeress is often found here watching over the city. The Grand Suq is where Lord Rock addresses the people of Rockport. He and Lady Lyddia can often be found walking about the Grand Suq talking to the people.

Customs Duty in Rockport is paid as a percentage of goods bought into the city, or a flat fee. Which is to be paid is determined by the Watch Cohort. Members of the Watch Cohort assigned to customs duty patrol near the Harbour and the Sky Harbour at all times day and night are are always ready to aid visiting crews with their cargo. Several Rockport Guardians assist the customs patrol. Crews are encouraged to restrict the loading and unloading of goods to daylight hours. Nightime loading and unloading will attract an additional fee.

Trade in the Grand Suq is largely unrestricted - so long as a good is not considered harmful or dangerous to the city or the citizenry it can be traded freely. A trading permit must be obtained from the Rockport Watch in order to trade legally in Rockport. Those engaging in trade without a lisence are fined.

The Vault.

The Vault is another important part of Rockport's trade, as it forms the financial heart of the Free Realms and so supports many international businesses by providing both a safe and neutral place to stores wealth, and an easy way of exchanging treasures for coin. Owing the to concentration of financial capital and activity at the Vault, advanced banking facilities are also available here.

The Vault is a secure facility with several identity checks, both magical and mundane, protecting the treasures of Vault customers. The Vault is guarded continually by a cohort of the Rock Legion supported by the Rockport Watch (including Rockport Guardians). The Hounds of Rockport also watch over the facility making it one of the most highly secure areas of the realm. The Vault is NOT accessible to tourists, accept those who come as customers. Tresspass into the Vault area is considered a crime against the realm and is dealt with in the harshest manner.

Liberty Harbour.

Rockport has begun construction on a floating platform just outside of its major harbour dedicated to servicing the needs of off-duty ships’ crews. Liberty Harbour contains fine quality shops, smiths, workplaces, taverns, restaurants, baths and Officers’ Quarters. On hand is an auditorium dedicated to the Immortal Bard Goddess Sard, a large complex and Temple of Love, and Liberty Courtyard - a large open courtyard crossing the entire port filled with stalls & statues. Boat services operate regularly between Liberty Port and Rockport Harbour, providing easy access to such sites of interest as: the Training Halls of the Free Realms; the Rockport Lyceneum (specialising in human & demi-human biology, art & music); the heavier industry of Rockport; the Grand Suq; the site of the Battle of La Rochesse; the Truce Palace of the Free Realms; and the Vault of Rockport for all of a crews‘ banking needs. Liberty Port is physically protected & policed by the Rockport Watch supported by a unit of Rockport Guardians and the Rockport Sea-rangers.

Crews staying at Liberty Harbour can also enjoy the spectacular views of the nearby underwater city, teeming with life and many varieties of local marine life.

Take advantage of Rockport‘s peace, sunshine, and services and let your crew kick back and relax at Liberty Harbour.

Favoured Realms.

Due to the ease of trade and relationships, Rockport declares the following realms as Favoured Realms. Favoured Realms experience cheaper & easier trade with Rockport, and are able to enjoy Liberty Harbour at cheaper rates. (List of Favoured Realms is in no particular order.)
