Rockport is a rocky island in the very middle of the Dread Sea. It is located hundreds of miles from the shores of the Dread Sea and is subject to many storms. While the island has a strong ecology, this was made almost barren by the Zombie War and the campaign of La Rochesse in 1101 YAC.

Travelling to Rockport.

Three methods exists for travelling to Rockport. (1) By sea. (2) By air. (3) By teleportation.

By Sea. Rockport has three harbours. The commercial harbour is the primary harbour for vessels coming to Rockport. This harbour is near constant stage of devlopment as Rockport brings it capacity up to match the needs for sheltering and repairing the many vessels now visiting the island state. Once docked, the Giants' Causeway ensures an easy trip to Rockport's Grand Suq. Units of the Watch Cohort are always on hand to ensure incoming vessels comply with all docking regulations and legal requirements. A small docking fee is charged to all vessels to cover the costs of harbour maintenance. The fee is assessed by members of the Watch Cohort or is set by the Captain's Council of Rockport. Ships staying longer term at Rockport Harbour that are unable to comply with basic ship quality standards are fined heavily or confiscated. The Sea-Elf-harbour is located in the small Sea-Elven settlement of Green Rocks just outside of Rockport. This wharf if used by the Sea-Elven community almost exclusively. The military harbour is accessible only to Rockport military vessels and personnel. An additional small wharf north of the city is used by the adventuring group known as X-Patrol.

By Air. Rockport also boasts a Sky Harbour where sky-ships can be docked and maintained. Four of the Sky Harbour's berths are maintained exclusively for Korenzean Sky Vessels. Landing at the Sky Harbour is a relatively easy process once a "Landing Permit" has been arranged. (A small fee is charged to cover maintenance of the Sky Harbour.) Landing Permits are valid for specified time. Flying creatures & mounts still need to obtain a Landing Permit. Approaching sky-ships are escorted into Rockport from a distance of 2 miles by Wild Riders (barbarians who ride flying dinosaurs). The Wild Riders' steeds are Pterosaurs - for more information on these fascinating creatures click here.

Visiting captain: "No I don't have a landing permit. I'm trying to reach Cornelius the Ape-Guard."

Wild Rider: "You fly straight to harbour-in-sky! Or me hit with club!"

Teleportation. A Teleportation Block exists over most of La Rochesse. However special arrangements are made on a case by case basis, and via the Korenzean Embassy, for teleportation onto the island.

Much of the island's ecology was restored by Lord Rock and the Elven settlers upon the settlement of Rockport. Lord Rock works ceaselessly to strike a balance between the needs of his city and the ecological needs of the island. An Island Druid, as well as several local allies such as the Dinosaur King and the Octopi People aid Lord Rock in this task.
