Having received her first honorable mention at the age of 14 Kristina Maria Cote graduated from the Bachelor of Arts program at the University of South Florida in 2001.   She has also been awarded the honor of studying art psychology in California and art history in Arizona.

Believing that a good foundation is important KMK COTE took time off whenever she could from 1996-2000 to study the paintings of the great masters.  Traveling from gallery to gallery spending days and weeks at the feet of artists like Monet, Riopelle, Bush, Pollock, Van Gogh, Picasso, Da Vinci, and O'keeffe she worked to hone her craft.  During this time home was never far from her mind.  Quickly realizing that Canadian art was not and has not been getting the respect that it deserved she dedicated herself to learning Canada's art history.  It became a refuge easing the ache and the longing she had for home.

Expressing both action and contemplation KMK COTE has created an energetic style that defies it's own.  In an astounding tapestry of colour she has sought to find the essential rhythm that projects imprints from emotion, nature, human experience and our surroundings into physical form.  With an unprecedented ability to get beneath the surface and to the most basic core of her subject matter we are forced to come face to face with pure emotion in its most lyrical form.
