I made my first trip on an urban roadway
And discovered that it can be dangerous
There are hazards for me to deal with
And they come up more frequently
*I try to keep two seconds between
Myself and the traffic I follow
If the car behind me is tailgating me
I need to reduce my speed
**When driving in urban areas
I must keep my attention on everything
Traffic, pedestrians,
and whatís coming ahead
^When approaching a traffic signal
I keep track of the point-of-no-return
And beware of stale green
lights ahead of me
I resolve that I will drive safely
I knew that I had turned on a one-way street
From signs posted and cars faced one way
But a car started coming head-on toward me
I slowed, moved right, and blew my horn
I want to overtake that slow driver
I check my mirrors for whatís behind,
Signal my change, check my blind spot,
Pass, signal into my lane
%When driving in urban areas
I have to keep track of what lane leads where
And watch out for where
the turn lanes begin
