Episode 1

Girl : I'm Kinomoto Sakura. I'm a fourth grader at Tomoeda Elementary School. My favorite subjects are P.E and music. I hate math. My most notable trait is that I am an energetic girl.

Sakura runs down stairs in her school uniform where her brother and father are eating breakfast. Her brother calls her a monster for stomping down the steps. An irritated Sakura introduces her brother, Touya. He is a sophomore in high school. His school is located next to Sakura's school. Her father hands her a breakfast plate and Sakura introduces him. Fujitaka is an archeology professor at a University. He is good at cooking, sewing and Sakura loooooves him. ^_^ And Sakura's mother .... she passed away when Sakura was 3 but its okay. She has her father and brother, even if Onii-chan [brother] is mean.

Touya heads out the door. Sakura shovels her breakfast down and snaps on her rollerblades. She chases after Touya who is riding a bike to school. She catches up with him just before he meets up with Yukito, Touya's best friend. Yukito is the reason Sakura likes to go to school with her brother. Sakura idolozes Yukito. She doesn't understand why a gentle guy like Yukito would be best friends with her crude brother. When they reach the gates of Tomoeda Elementary, Yukito tosses Sakura a candy. Tomoyo-chan, Sakura's best friend, sees this. She compliments Yukito on such a smooth move. She wishes she had a camera to take a picture of it. While Sakura changes out of her rollerblades, Tomoyo asks Sakura if she can take videos or Sakura with the new video recorder she bought. A reluctant Sakura agrees after Tomoyo says that there is nothing cuter or more interesting than Sakura-chan.

Later, at club [ cheerleading ] Sakura is practicing baton twirling. As the baton twirls in the air, Sakura see it turn into a pink wand. Distracted, she missed her catch and the baton hits her on the head. Her two friends Chiharu and Naoko comment that even Sakura is an excellent cheerleader, everyone makes mistakes.

Sakura returns home to an empty house. She is just about to some goodies for the refridgerator when she heard a noise somewhere in the house.

Sakura : It's from Dad's study [ basement ].What should I do? What if it's a robber? I will just look from the door. If there's someone there, I'll call the cops.

Clutching her baton, Sakura makes her way down the basement. There appears to be no one there. Sakura turns away when one of the books begins to glow. Sakura pulls the book off the shelf and turns it over. It looks famialiar and Sakura remembers her dream. Then, the clasp hold the book shut opens! Sakura is startled but she opens the book. Inside is a deck of cards. She pulls the first one out an reads the letters along the bottom.

Sakura : Win ... ummm .... Win ... WINDY.

There is a sudden gust of wind and Sakura holds tight to the book and WINDY card. The remaing cards in the book are lifted out. They scatter through the walls and cieling. When the wind dies down, Sakura lets the book fall and sits down on the floor. The book begins to glow again and this time, a small winged figure rises slowly from it. The figure slowly raises it's head ...

Figure : Konyanyachi wa! [ How ya doin? ] Thanks for waking me up!
Sakura : Osaka accent ... ? [ There is a region in Japan, Osaka, where the people speak with a defining accent. Cerbeos speaks with this accent. ]
Figure : This book was in Osaka for so long that the accent kinda stuck.
Sakura : [ grabbing him ] Where's the battery? ... switch?
Figure : I ain't a toy! I am the gaurdian best of this book, Cerberos.
Sakura : Gaurdian? Cerbeos?
Ceberos : Yeah,I gaurd the cards in this book so that they don't do bad stuff. [ Cerberos magically raises the book into an upright open position. ] That's my ... THERE'S NO CARDS?! Why? WHY?

Sakura shows Cerberos the WINDY card and explains how the others flew away when she said, "Windy."

Cerberos : Oh, so that's it. WHAT?!

Sakura finishes her dinner quickly, grabs a plate of pudding and runs up to her room.

Sakura : How's it going?
Cerberos : Bad, I can't tell where the cards are at all. [ sitting on Clow book ]

Cerberos proceeds to explain to Sakura all about the nature of the book she opened. The cards inside the book were Clow Cards - a special deck of magical cards created by the wizard Clow Reed. When unleashed, the cards will bring chaos into the world. Cerbeos fell asleep and Sakura was able to unleash all the cards, all except WINDY. It was Cerberos's snoring that Sakura heard earlier.

Cerberos : Anyway, since you could open the book, you have at least some magic power. And your name is ... ?
Sakura : Sakura ^_^
Cerberos : Well, then Sakura, stand over there.
               O Key of Captor! There is one who would enter a covenant with thee, a girl named Sakura.
               O Key, grant this girl power.
               RELEASE!

The key transforms into a wand and Cerberos tells Sakura to grab it. A Card Captor is born! Cerberos immediately digs into the pudding Sakura brought up.

A little later, Sakura is combing her hair while Cerberos is jumping on Sakura's bed.

Sakura : Cant, can't, can't do it! I can't be a Card Captor! I'm just a normal elementary school kid. The world in chaos? Whatever.

Dream on Sakura. That's what they all say. The great big gust of wind outside means the end of normalacy for out little heroin. Sakura and Cerberos see a giant silver bird flying outside. Cerberos recognizes it as a Clow Card. It's Sakura's first mission and duty as the world's on Card Captor.

Sakura leaves in her Pajamas and on rollerblades. Suddenly she is face to face with the FLY card. Kero tells her to use the magic he taught her back in the bedroom. Sakura holds out the Key and recites the magic phrase. The bird swoops down at her. She ducks. FLY comes in for another attack. Sakura tries to outrun. She has a plan! She rollerblades up a slop and cartwheels onto FLY's back. From there, she uses WINDY and brings fly to the ground. She calls the sealing wind and seals FLY.

Cerberos : Way to go Sakura! See, you're the Card Captor I anticipated.
Sakura : Hey! I've never said I'd do it!
Cerberos : These different experiences will build character. Well, you've captured the card. Let's use it!
Sakura : What can it do?
Cerberos : Well, just try it and see.

Sakura throws the card down and taps it with the tip of her wand and says, "Fly!" the tiny wings on the head of the key grow to an large size. Sakura mounts the wand and she and Cerberos go flying over Tomoeda.

Cerberos : How is it? Doesn't it feel good?
Sakura : Um!
Cerberos : Let's work hard together, Card Captor Sakura!
Sakura : Uh huh!
Hey, I haven't said I'd do it!
