Phil Fryer and Sue Smith started TINTINTIN and the Reds in 1985, the band played several gigs in Oxford.
In 1986 Bob (still in Barmy Army) started helping "The Reds" as sound engineer then when the bassist left he stepped in, by late '86 ex-Raindance, B.A.'s, Bob was joined by Neal Graneau on drums.
In '89 Cath ex Sax Machine (a 12 piece all girl sax ensemble) added the missing sax after Ali left for a while - rejoined then left again.
As this line up "Tins" played local gigs - party's as well as the ever shrinking free festival circuit, not to mention the near disaster gigs ( Fire, Flood and being paid to stop, etc...) started Klub Kakofanney in '91, at Ruskin Hall, Oxford.
Then when Joe Ryan moved to the Elm Tree they took up monthly residence, musik from the madhaus prevailed.

Klub Kakofanney is still a monthly live music club. Its has retained it's experimental, anything-goes attitude to promotion and has outlived almost every venue in Oxford, having moved home a number of times, now resides at the regular venue of The Wheatsheaf in the city centre since August 2000.
It remains one of the local music scene's best-loved institutions with a large and loyal regular crowd.
As well as the monthly club, we have promoted gigs in Abingdon, Reading and Banbury and also ran a number of all day events for various occasions.
We even managed an all-day event to celebrate our 10th birthday and held it at the E.O.C.C with the help of the Skittle Alley an Abingdon based club.
With over 30 acts performing over 12hrs of live music on 2 stages.
This has lead onto numerous all-day and all-weekend events at various venues in Oxford.
The Wheatsheaf pub underwent a complete refurbishment in August 2002 with the addition of much needed air-conditioning and the installation of a new P.A. system (see below for full technical listing) and lighting rig.
With the changes in licencing laws in 2006 the pub is now open until 12pm and we have expanded to the occasional four bands/acts.
We will continue to endeavour to bring great and diverse live music to the people of Oxford in a friendly but professional manner.
Encouraging new bands; young and old and acts that may not normally find a venue because of their unique style, to allow them to learn, to experiment and evolve.
In doing so, we can continue to bring a wide range of musical styles and talent for you to enjoy.
With many bands and band members returning in different forms and line-ups, year after year.
After over 5 year at The Wheatsheaf pub and with doubts about its continuation to host live music, we found ourselves moving yet again,
this time to The Exeter hall on Cowley road, after the major refurbishment of the venue.
This spell at The Ex. was short and we soon returned to The Wheatsheaf with a new landlord and a more secure outlook, were we are still to the present day.
