Prerequisite: None (required for all diploma tracks)

Course Description: The course World Civilizations is required and focuses on civilization from the Renaissance to the present-day world with an overview of the ancient civilizations.  A factual and cultural view of the history of mankind is embraced.  Attention is also given to the development of social studies skills such as map reading, chart and graph interpretation, and research techniques. 

Course Goal: The overall goal of this course is to give student?s knowledge and understanding of World Civilizations with an emphasis on Western culture from Renaissance to present.  Students will tie past to present within political, religious, and cultural shifts.

Course Requirements: In order for the student to be successful in this course, he/she must meet the following expectations:

Participate in class discussion and notes
Keep a notebook/folder
Participate in all activities.
Complete all assignments, quizzes and tests

Criteria included for evaluation and Determination of Grade: A points based average of all grades on assignments; quizzes, tests, and classroom participation comprise 90% of the student grade.  Comprehensive Exams (midterm test and final test) will make up the remaining 10% of the final grade for each semester.

Academic Expectations: Students MUST have a credit in World Civilizations in order to graduate from North Bullitt High School.  Each student is expected to do his/her best on all assignments.
