| Ancestry.com - Everyone knows about this site. It is awesome. Some searches are free. Ellis Island - Records of passengers who came through Ellis Island. You must register for free to do research. It is all free and you can even view the original passenger lists and save them to your hard drive. OneGreatFamily - This is site pretty neat. Easy to use. Cyndi's List - Offers the best genealogy sites and family sites on the internet. I use this site often. Genealogy.com - This directory contains over 50,000 genealogy Web Sites. Abbreviations, Definitions and Glossaries. Beginners Guide. Interviewing Techniques. A to Z Irish Genealogy - Alphabetical list of links to surnames, counties and articles dedicated to Irish genealogy and worldwide, plus more. The Seekers Genealogy Sites - Lists some great site for research. The USGenWeb Project - If you haven't been here now is the time. National Library of Australia - Australian genealogy and family sites, Australian Aboriginal Family History, Military Service Records, worldwide resources and research services. GenealogySearch.org - Give and take a little. Nice site for research. Genealogy Portal - Provides comprehensive search engines and links to assist in completing family histories. Illinois Civil War Veterans Database - Searchable database of the 1900-1901 publication "Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Illinois plus other searches. All free I believe. American Civil War Research Database - the largest, most in-depth and fully searchable database of United States Civil War soldiers and events. Cemeteries and Cemetery Records - Browse 3,569,011 cemetery records across 7,500 cemeteries from around the world. Cemetery Junction - find links to US cemeteries, Canadian cemeteries, family cemeteries, and obituaries. Free Obituaries On-Line - All these links lead to obituaries, death or funeral notices, mostly from newspapers, but all are free, although some sites may require you to register or allow cookies to be set. Some are for the current day only, some are archived for a week, a month, or more. Also included are death registers. The Olden Times - Obits, births, marriage, and old news stories, all scanned from 18th-20th century US newspapers.
