| The old parochial registers of Falkirk, Polmont (marriage records commance in 1731), Bothkennar, and Larbert (marriage records commance in 1760) were next searched, where possible, from 1730 to 1738 for the marriage of James Baird and Janet Currie, but this was not found to have been recorded among the extant records for any of these parishes. The old parochial registers of Falkirk were then searched from 1700 to 1720 for the birth of James Baird, but this was not found to have been recorded there. The old parochial registers of the neighbouring parishes of Falkirk, which are Polmont (regular birth records commence in 1732), Bothkennar (birth records commence in 1723), Larbert (birth records blank 1669-1723), Dunipace (birth records commence in 1708), Muiravonside, Slamannan, Denny (birth records blank 1717-18), and Cumernauld (birth records defective 1699-1701 and blank 1710-27) were also searched, where possible, from 1700-1720 for the birth of James Baird, and the following entries were found in Muiravonside:- 1) "18th January 1702 John Baird and Janet Tylour his wife had a child named James baptised on the 18th day of this instant." 2) "23rd March 1718 James Baird son lawful to James Baird and Joan Livingston, Isack Baird and John Andrew (witnesses)." As it was not known which of the above entries might be relevant, the investigation was accordingly here concluded. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patricia M.
