Biography

Kerry Dale Ligtenberg was born on May 11, 1971 in Rapid Falls, SD. He graduated from Cottage Grove High School in Minnesota in 1989. While in high school Kerry received All-Conference honors in baseball. After his senior year at the University of Minnesota, where he majored in chemical engineering, he played several seasons in the independent leagues. Ligtenberg was signed by Braves' scout Matt Anderson in late 1996 and after a stint in the minors he became a part of the NL Braves 1998. He officially received his degree from the U of Minnesota in September of 2000. Unfortunately, Kerry missed the entire 1999 season after having "Tommy John" surgery. After some more time spent with the Braves, he has played with the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Arizona D'Backs. He has also played for the Tucson Sidewinders (AAA) and the Iowa Cubs (AAA). Kerry is married his wife Sara in Dec. of 1998. To the best of my knowledge (a precarious situation on the best of days) Kerry and Sara's first child, Reese, was born November 4, 2001. The majority of this information came from a Brave's Mania profile written by Nancy Ward and some from LeeannDemon (check out the link on main page). Please forgive any errors as I screw up fairly often.
