On Saturday, August 7th 2004, all 4th district PTA presidents were invited to attend a Presidents Survivor Retreat. We were fortunate to have had Mrs. Laura Dobbs (Georgia PTA President-Elect), Mr. Bob Boyer (Georgia PTA Membership Chair), and Mr. Jim Helms (Georgia PTA Programs Chair), speak to our leaders. We had a great turnout with training given by wonderful presenters and even had some fun thrown into the mix.
At the retreat all PTAs of Muscogee and Harris County were randomly put into one of five different "Tribes". A mascot was assigned to each tribe and all tribe mates participated in the making of the tribe banner. All who attended received a bandana with the PTA Survivor logo to represent their tribe (PTAs that were not in attendance were assigned a tribe at a later time).
Each tribe then selected a Tribe Chief that will help motivate and lead their tribe toward victory at the end of the year. Tribe mates accumulate points for their tribe by attending training and achieving membership goals in their own PTA. |

A special thank you to all three of our special presenters, and also to Muscogee County Council of PTAs for co-sponsoring this important training event.
Also thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped set up and clean up. Special recognition to: Susan Wood, Maritza Harris, and Jim Pyle. This would not have been a success without the help of everyone, and the willingness of those in attendance to give up a saturday afternoon. Thank you again. |
