Liberty Organ Marimba Harp No. 49
The expertise of the Kohler Liebich Company was epitomized in their
production of Organ Stops for Theatre & Church organs. Before
the creation of electronic synthesized organs, the only way to produce
different sounds in an organ were to physically connect the instruments to
the organ. While many people are familiar with pipe organs, there
were a variety of other instruments used to product sounds in the
pre-electronics era.
An "organ stop" was the slide/tab on the organ that
directed either electric signals or compressed air to the strikers on the
instruments. The Kohler-Liebich Liberty Chime company did not
manufacture organs or the striking mechanisms; their wooden and metal percussion bars were so well tuned
that they were purchased separately and installed in the organ stops
produced by other companies. Click on the links on the left to see the
variety of Organ Stops produced by the Kohler Liebich Company.
