~IRREGULAR "UNIFORMS"~ ~311th. Arkansaw Volunteer Militia Cavalry CSA~ | ||||||||||||
| "The wearing of the grey" ~BATTLE DRESS UNIFORMS and MILITARY SURPLUS WOOL~ "Uniforms" are to be IRREGULAR, which basically means wear what you got, mix and match to fit your needs. KKKeep in mind this is Rebel Militia NOT Regular Army! Military surplus from any nation of Western Christendom is good. LooKKK sharp and looKKK military when on duty, it is important! Camouflage to suit the mission is even more important and is encouraged. Also it is important to have good cold weather gear, this is to include Military Surplus Wool pants, jackets and overcoats, as well as military style wool caps. Do NOT forget warm and moderate weather Military Headgear in the form of Patrol Caps, Ranger Caps and Boonie Hats. Hats and caps should match your BDU Jacket if possible, but not real important. Wear what you got! ~GREY SUBDUED URBAN CAMO~ Grey subdued urban camouflage is encouraged as well as solid grey BDU's for urban warfare and parade dress. Woodland Green Camouflage BDU's are encouraged for woodland warfare and day to day combat attire. Grey Subdued Urban Camo is suitable for winter woodland combat in Arkansas, as there is lots of grey in the hardwood forests of Arkansas. The regular Urban Camo with lots of White looks good, but is really only suitable for fighting in the snow, or for parade dress. We do not get a lot of snow in most of Arkansas, and what we get tends to melt off before long. Therefore these are not encouraged for Arkansaw Militia Troopers. If however you live in a part of Arkansaw or anywhere else in America that gets a lot of snow, then these are good Camouflage as long as there is snow on the ground. The minute the snow melts these "snow camo" BDUs should go back in your pack; which in Arkansas means you best have other BDU's with you at all times, since the snow could melt in a hurry at any time. WHITE POWER! ~CONFEDERATE CAMOUFLAGE~ If you are having trouble finding SUBDUED URBAN CAMOUFLAGE, the regular Urban Camo with lots of white can be transformed easily into Subdued Urban Grey Camo. Just take black ritz dye and dye 2 garments per bottle: this will turn the white areas a Grey color and make them suitable Combat garments for Arkansaw Militiamen. The thus dyed and "subdued" or the 'off the shelf' Subdued Urban Grey Camo BDU's are known to American Rebel Militias Cavalry Troopers as "CONFEDERATE CAMOUFLAGE" or "REBEL CAMOUFLAGE". ~WOODLAND FOREST KAMO~ The Green Woodland Camo BDUs are among the best camouflage in spring, summer and early fall in Arkansaw forests. In fact the USA Woodland Camo and the British Woodland Camo are probably two of the best all around Camouflage BDU's available today. They will work A-OK even in Urban Warfare and the Winter Woodlands of Arkansas. It is important to have some Woodland Camo if at all possible! ~CIVILIAN HUNTER CAMO~ It must be remembered that among the best Camouflage available today are the multitudes of "Hunters" Civilian Camo patterns. Most of these used in Arkansaw are heavy on THE GREY, and are therefore GREAT CAMOUFLAGE FOR CONFEDERATE REBEL MILITIAS. This stuff makes a good Milita "Uniform"! ~ SHOULDER PATCHES ~ RIGHT SHOULDER OF UNIFORM: Rebel militia troopers should wear a Confederate Battle Flag Patch, aka Rebel Battle Flag Patch. This Patch should be Red, White and Blue, or appropriate subdued Camouflage; whichever is best for the mission at hand and is available. First choice. Secondary Right Shoulder Patch is a USA Stars and Stripes Patch "UPSIDE DOWN" to symbolize America in distress and our opposition to the Federal ZOG Police State tyranny of the USA. This is important in order to avoid being confused with or mis-identified as "government troops" or "tory federal loyalist militias". Once the victory is won, and America is restored to true constitutional government; then we can and will turn the US flags right side up! {One or the other of the above, not both on 1 jacket.} LEFT SHOULDER OF UNIFORM: Rebel militia troopers should wear if available on the left shoulder of uniform some form of Paramilitary, Militia, Rebel, Ku Klux Klan, or White Nationalist PATCH, if available. Options include: #1. Klan Blood-drop Cross (Red, Black and White, or subdued Camouflage Patch) #2. "Defenders of Liberty" MILITIA PATCH with the American Minuteman Symbol. #3. Any suitable American Militias Patch. #4. Any suitable Ku Klux Klan Patch. #5. Any recognized White Supremacy or White Nationalist Organization Patch. #6. Any suitable Patch that denotes Chivalry or Christian Knighthood. #7. Any suitable Christian Paramilitary symbol patch. {one patch on left shoulder} ~ PLANT BADGES ~ "Cypress Leaf Cluster" or "Pine Tree Leaves" Like the Highlands Scottish Clansmen of old, the 311th. Arkansaw Volunteer Militia has a PLANT BADGE. For this Militia BRIGADE of CS CAVALRY it is the CYPRESS LEAVES, a single CLUSTER thereof, worn on the hat, cap, or helmet. If a cluster of CYPRESS LEAVES are not available, then a single CLUSTER OF PINE NEEDLES from any Southern Pine Tree will do as a substitute or SECONDARY PLANT BADGE. These PLANT BADGES also serve as "a wee bit of" Camouflage, but much more vegetation and a greater degree of diversity should be used when adding leaves to your uniform and gear for true CAMOUFLAGE purposes. Blend in & be invisible! The addition of the single leaf PLANT BADGE to the hat or cap is merely an ANCIENT FORM OF MILITARY BADGE or CLAN DESIGNATION. ~GENERAL GUIDELINES~ In general try to at least have BDU Jackets & Coats. BDU pants while really good, are seconday. Blue Jeans are OK, not good but OK, Black Jeans are better, Dark Grey or brown Jeans even better. Faded blue jeans will take either black or brown RITZ DYE and create a more subdued 'drab' military look. Wool pants are the best for cold winter days and nights outdoors, along with WOOL SOCKS. Wool is a superior winter military garment, and does not catch fire as easily as synthetic fabrics, and it will not melt & stick to your body like polyester, nylon and many other synthetics! For this reason and others 100% COTTON BDUs are superior to the more readily available cotton/synthetic fabric blends. 100% cotton is also much cooler in hot weather than the synthetic uniforms. [None the less - wear what you got.] Just remember cotton is king, and wool is warm. Much more on WOOL later. You also need good thick warm weather socks for marching long distance as dismounted Cavalry and fighting dismounted. Remember you cannot ride your horses, your ATVs or your trucks and cars everywhere you go. Lots of SOCKS and blister bandages will be needed. Change your socks often and keep them as dry and clean as possible. Take care of your feet and keep in mind the noble tradition of Stonewall Jackson's "Foot Cavalry". This unit is both HORSE and MOTORIZED "MOUNTED CAVALRY". Yet we are prepared to fight as INFANTRY or DISMOUNTED CAVALRY, we must be prepared. In addition face the facts, that as true Cavalry Troopers, you will ride when you can IF POSSIBLE, PRACTICAL and TACTICAL; and walk when circumstances, duty and tactics call for it. If you cannot walk far, then you will do your duty as a horse holder or vehicle guard. Fellow militiamen, get in shape and stay in shape if at all possible. We must be vigorous as well as valiant! ~ BOOTS ~ HUNTING BOOTS HIKING BOOTS COMBAT BOOTS ~ RAIN GEAR ~ Remember you also need RAIN GEAR, even if only a PONCHO. A Gore-Tex RAIN SUIT is better! Some "4 man" European Military tents have four panels which when unbuttoned make 4 ponchos, these are grand tents & good ponchos. A helmet will keep your head dry even in a long down pour. Surplus 'Steel-Pot' HELMETS are inexpensive and well-worth their weight in silver. ~MILITARY WOOL~ Grey, Grey-Green, and O.D. Green Military Surplus clothing is good; especially WOOL for winter operations. Military Surplus Wool pants, shirts, jackets, blankets and coats are readily availabe at low cost. GREAT COATS [Wool Military Overcoats] are greatly encouraged. Especially Swiss Army [Swiss Militia] GREY WOOL OVERCOATS. These are sharp looKKKing and very functional. Any Grey Wool Military Overcoat looKKKs GREAT with a grey wool "Kepi" or "Forage Cap" (Bummer Cap) available from War Between The States Sutlers and Re-enactors suppliers. There are many styles of Grey and Grey-Green Military Wool Caps availible at much lower cost from any good Military surplus supply outfit. One more thing about GREAT COATS, the "official" old-time "Civil War" Confederate Great Coats styled after the "Ulster Overcoat with Cape" look impressive and are truly great, but they are really expensive. They are however readily available from reenactor supply outfits known as Civil War Sutlers. ~SWISS MILITIA OVERCOATS~ The Swiss Militia Overcoats can be purchased for around $20.00 to $25.00, and are really great Field Coats. These are heavy WOOL GREAT COATS, and looKKK sharp. Good for Parade Dress or COMBAT. There are many styles of Wool Great Coats available from many Armies, you should have at least one for each trooper. Great Britain makes a really good DRAGOON OVERCOAT for HORSEMEN in OD GREEN. ~ More Later! ~ |
