Bullmonarch  Elsa

In late of 1996, we heard of a Rescue Anatolian.  and together with Maureen I went to visit this dog.  It was a pitiful story, and even though the dog had been well fed,  her mental maturity was deprived.  She had been kept in a small enclosure on a large property. She had a lot of water and shade from an old and  very large Australian Gum tree.  Unfortunately this is where Elsa's problem started, as the tree was the home to a family of Australian Magpies, well known for the swooping and attacking of anything near their home.  So Elsa spent her day dodging and ducking from these nasty birds. Then her second problem was the fashion accessory of the moment,  the cute little white Maltese Terrier........ Elsa was no longer required for those hugs and play times with the children and so permanently banished to share her spot with the Magpies. The lady sold us Elsa and I nursed her all the way home, telling her that she would never have to worry about anything again.   The family were all excited over the new arrival, and even though it took a little while for her to settle into our routine, she did not seem to miss her old life. Unlike our dogs, Elsa only had one puppy photo, so her early life is 'non existent' in memory to us. In the beginning, Elsa  barked at every bird in the garden, and every little noise.   She has settled a lot, but still is a barking dog, and gets over excited. Unfortunately she does not have a satisfactory hip score, and as a result we will not be breeding from her.  It was suggested however by another dog breeder, that we do breed, and cull all bar one or two of the puppies.  Like Maureen we were horrified at this suggestion,  and decided that to love the dog was our priority, not breeding from her. Elsa has a fake litter of  puppies every year.
