We decided on our leaving date today.  We will leave the United States and head for the Caribbean about November 7, 2005.  Our last day of work will be October 21, 2005 (YAHOOOOOO!).  That gives us about two weeks to finalize everything.  Kim will head down south to see her family for the last week.  Mike will join her for the last weekend and then we'll fly out of Los Angeles to head to Sint Maarten and start our new life.  We are sooo excited, we can barely stand it.  Gotta go, we got way to much work to do right now.

On Friday, April 8, 2005 we finally were aboard the boat for the sea trial.  Everything went great, Clive the former owner was great and gave us a full day sail.  We were sold and said "We'll take her!!!"  The deal was finalized on April 11, 2005 and we spent the next week cleaning her up and securing her for hurricane season.  We're home now finishing all our business here, and will be heading back for good sometime in November or December 2005!!  Click here for pictures.

We got word back from the seller that he has accepted our offer, pending our conditions of sea trial.  We have tentatively scheduled the sea trial for April 7th or 8th, that means we have to go back to Sint Maarten - what a bummer - not!!  If the sea trial goes well and all systems work, the boat is ours.  Stay tuned!

A couple of weeks ago we saw a Vagabond 42' for sale at a price that was affordable.  Most of you know we love the vagabonds, but thought it might be out of our price range.  We went to St. Martin/Sint Maarten this week to look at the boat.  She was beautiful so we had a survey done and made an offer.  We're waiting to hear if the owner will accept.  If the owner accepts we'll fly back at the end of March for a Sea Trial, if all goes well, we have our BOAT and will start our cruise from the Caribbean!!!  If not we'll start our search again.  You can see more pictures of the boat and St. Martin/Sint Maarten if you click here.  You'll notice the teak decks need a little TLC, but she will be beautiful again
