Background Information
This project is designed to create a series of web sites
teachers of grades 7-12 and their students can use to learn more about
the local history around them in Cape Girardeau and Bollinger Counties
in Missouri. The state of Missouri mandates that students be aware
of the continuity and change of the events of the course of Missouri's
history. This project will meet Show-Me Standards. Area teachers,
students, and parents can access this site and use it as an instructional
tool to learn more about Missouri. This site was developed by Keenan
Kinder. He is a social studies teacher at Leopold RIII Schools.
It was completed to meet the requirements for the Master's of Science in
Instructional Technology at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Objectives:

Principles and processes of governance systems.

Economic concepts.

Major elements of geographical study and analysis.

Use of tools of social science inquiry (such as surveys, statistics, maps,
documents).
Students will also be able to:

Develop questions and ideas to initiate and refine research.

Design and conduct field and laboratory investigations to study society.

Use technological tools and other resources to locate, select and organize
information.

Identify, analyze and compare the institutions, traditions and art forms
of past and present societies.
