Season Five

1) Fathers and Sons *** (Running Time 46 minutes)

Alec gives more responsibility to Felix and Felix has trouble jugging both work at home and work at the hotel. Alec makes the weary Felix decide between the two and Felix becomes angry and runs away to the hotel. Felix is awakened by the ill and gruff millionaire. Felix and the millionaire begin talking and the millionaire teaches Felix the importance of talking things through with his father.

2) Memento Mori **** (Running Time 45 minutes)

For Hetty's fiftieth bithday, the family plans a surprise birthday party. Hetty doesn't want to celebrate her birthday and meets with her publisher- only to discover that he no longer wanted romance novels. Hetty returns to Avonlea early and nearly destroys the plans. Hetty begins to feel unwanted and refuses to go to Alec and Janet's for supper. Because Hetty will not come, the family decide to bring things over to Rose Cottage and discover Hetty collapsed on the floor.

3) Modern Times **** (Running Time 45 minutes)

Because the cannery is going to be made into a distillery, Hetty convince H.B. Dunn to sell her the cannery. Hetty has no idea how to run a cannery and ask Jasper and Olivia to run it for her. Much to the annoyance of a bored Felicity, Gus begins helping Jasper with the cannery. After Olivia makes some deals without Jasper's approval the cannery is put at stake.

4) A Friend in Need **** (Running Time 45 minutes)

Rachel Lynde has to visit her son and asks Hetty to watch Davy and Dora. Hetty, thinking that Rachel's son was sentenced to die, quickly agrees to watch the children. Hetty has a hard time with Davy and Mr. Pettibone suggests that Davy be sent to military school. Sara helps Davy and Dora with their essays and discovers Davy's long-kept secret.

5) Strictly Melodrama **** (Running Time 46 minutes)

Avonlea is hosting the annual drama competition and Hetty is determined to win. Muriel Stacey is originally casted to be the main character, but when Muriel learns of a family ailment, she has to decline. Hetty then asks Janet to play the lead role and Janet accepts, but when a famous actress Isabella Carrington stays at the White Sands Hetty asks Isabella to be the lead role. Isabella has her own idea how her part should be done and refuses to act how the part is written.

6) The Great Race *** (Running Time 45 minutes)

Felix wants to enter the steeplechase, but Janet thinks that he is too young and will get injured. Mr. Tremayne helps Felix train Prince and when Felix feels that Prince is ready, he and Alec have a test to see who will ride in the race. However, an accident occurs and Felix is injured.

7) Stranger in the Night **** (Running Time 45 minutes)

After discovering a man sleeping in his barn, Alec decides to hire him. Alec knows very little about Caleb and Janet is leery of Caleb until he saves Daniel's life. The picture of Caleb and Daniel in the paper brings Caleb's enemies to town and Caleb is attacked.

8) Someone to Believe In ** (Running Time 45 minutes)

Visiting politician, Mr. Hodgsen, asks Alec to run for office. Felix is rather taken with Mr. Hodgsen's daughter, Adeline. Items begin disappearing at the hotel and the new waiter is blamed. Felix discovers who the real thief is, but is asked to remain silent.

9) Thursdays Child ****** (Running Time 46 minutes)

Cecily contracts tuberculosis and the family is instantly reminded of Sara's mother, Ruth. Felicity, with the help of Dr. Jones, studies tuberculosis and tells Janet that Cecily has to be sent to a sanatorium. Janet becomes upset with Felicity and tells Felicity that she doesn't want her advice. Cecily continues to get worse and the Kings fear that she will die.

10) Best Laid Plains ** (Running Time 45 minutes)

Jasper accidentally discovers a hard plastic and asks the help of his look-alike cousin, Jeremiah to help him market the plastic. Davy, who has gotten into trouble, has to do a good deed for someone and begins working at the hotel to try to do a good deed. Jeremiah gets people to invest in the plastic and leaves town- with the Jasper's formula.

11)Otherwise Engaged ****** (Running Time 46 minutes)

Gus is promoted to assistant manager at the hotel, but an old friend from Gus' sailing days visits the White Sands and offers Gus a job. Felicity is accepted into medical school and the young couple has to decide their future. Meanwhile, Izzy Pettibone wants her father to begin courting someone, and with the help of Davy and Dora, Izzy's plan takes shape.

12) Enter Prince Charming ** (Running Time 47 minutes)

A new minister comes to town and Sara is stripped from her duty to show Booth around town. Because of the minister's bad handwriting Booth was thought to be ten years old, but was really a teenager and close to Sara's age. Sara befriends Booth and feigns illness to go to a party with him. The Avonlea people do not appreciate Mr. Elliot's humor in the sermons and ask him to tone it down.

13) The Minister's Wife * (Running Time 46 minutes)

Janet, who has befriended Violet Elliot, begins to get into trouble with Viola. Meanwhile, Hetty has given permission for Sara and Booth spend time with each other, but Hetty follows their every move.
