Grand Mahakala Puja and Sacred Protector Dance  

The Venerable Second Gyalpo Rinpoche

Gyalpo Rinpoche is a widely renowned and respected spiritual master in Manag, Nepal. The First Gyalpo Rinpoche studied under the great realized master Kushog Wangyal Rinpoche, and afterwards learnt and took ordination from the 16th Karmapa; he become a highly accomplish master of the Dzogchen as well as of the Mahamudra traditions. By virtue of his compassion, the First Gyalpo Rinpoche establish the first Karma Kagyu monastery in Manang -Karma Samten Chokhor Ling, and had many devoted follwers.

The First Gyalpo Rinpoche left behond many inspirative and impressive incidences in his lifetime - he averted the otherwise catastrophe to help the local farmers by causing rain and by halting the avalanches in the Himalayas; two gangs of gun-fighters abandoned their arms spontaneously and repented for their karmic deed by the instant appearance of Gyalpo Rinpoche; most of Rinpoche's followers passed away during meditation and their bodies remained in meditated and their bodies remained in meditated posture and hearts remained warm even after seven days....

The second Gyalpo Rinpoche was reincarnated in 1978. As a young child, he related many stories about his previous incarnated life. At the age of 6, the Second Gyalpo Rinpoche was recognized and enthroned at the holy seat of Dapsang Monastery in Kathmandu by H.E. Tai Sity Rinpoche. Even as a small child, Gyalpo Rinpoche revealed his high intellectual power and keen interest in Buddhadharma practice. He started his several months's retreat after 10 years old.

H.E. the Third Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche placed high regard of the small Gyalpo Rinpoche. He inspired and encouraged Rinpoche to establish a Buddhist institute to provide high quality training and education to the future Sangha. Subsequently, with the assistance of Jamgon Rinpoche before this parinirvana, and of Lama Gyaltsen, Karma Lekshey Ling Institute was establish in Kathmadu in 1990, when Gyalpo Rinpoche was only 12 years old. It becomes the main seat of the Second Gyalpo Rinpoche. At present, Karma Lekshey Ling Monastery (Institute) enrolled the largest number of Buddhist students in Nepal and by Virtue of it's strict discipline and high standard, is greatly famed both in Nepal and abroad.

At the age of 16, Rinpoche started redevelopment of the Karma Samten Chokhor Ling Monastery and Nunnery in Manang, the main seat of the First Gyalpo Rinpoche which had fallen into disrepair.

At the age of 20, in 1998, Gyalpo Rinpoche was appointed as the Chairman of the Buddhist Monasteries Management and Development Committee of Nepal. (At present, there are over 4000 monasteries and Dharma centres in Nepal.)

Gyalpo Rinpoche has studied under many great master: he received various teaching of the Lineage, transmissions and initiations form H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche, H.E. the Third Jamgon Rinpoche, H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpoche, the Third Dapsang Rinpoche and Thrangu Rinpoche and many others. At the age of 22, Gyalpo Rinpoche has already accomplish the profound path of Mahamudra and of Dzogchen.

In 2000, at the ceremony of 50 years of Democracy in Nepal, the King granted an Award to Gyalpo Rinpoche in high appraisal and recognition of his achievement and contribution in the Buddhist community as well as in the Educational development. The young Gyalpo Rinpoche is deeply devoted to his role in propagating the Buddhadharma and training and education of future Buddhist masters.
