| * Implement reading across the content areas. * Classroom libraries should be stocked with a wide variety of diverse literature and trade books of all genres. * Implement Reading Workshops in the classroom. * Literature-based reading instruction should include reading to children, reading by children, and reading with children. * Motivate students to read by showing them that you are a reading. * Make reading, as well as writing, an integral part of the daily classroom funtioning. * Become familiar with technique for judging the quality of children's books. * Stay abreast of new, quality books of all genres. * Expose students to a variety of genres, including nonfiction books and biographies. * Stay abreast of current research regarding reading programs and strategies. |
