"What You Are to Me"    in memory of Jeremy Smith
                                                                          1975-1992

You are my world, my everything.
You make my life so simple,
So caring is what you are.
You were my life, my all.
You gave me courage to fight all my battles.
You taught me never to give up, ever.
You encouraged me to be free.
You cared and were always there.
                         I never worried, never feared,
For I knew you would be near.
God gave you to me so I could see.
                         How wonderful life truly is.
Forget the past, we will be free at last,
                         Through eternity and beyond.
To you, I gave my heart and soul.
I gave you my life, nevermind the sorrow
                               and strife.
You died before I could become your wife.
You are to me the sun and moon,
                          Watching o'er the world.
The stars in the sky, the kiss as we say good bye.
No matter how far your spirit roams,
It is with me where it is home.
Not there, but here, in the arms that loved you
                                so very much.
The happiness that exists only in the purest hearts,
In  imagination and fascination your spirit thrives.
And my memory beside you lies.

   "Words, the World's Communication"     1987

Words can cut like a knife,
They can pierce our very soul,
     And carve out our life.
While being done, we all know.
     Words can warm your heart.
     They can set emotions ablaze.
Or finish or start that special daydream daze.
Words can soothe, comfort and love,
Or lay out the perfect plan.
Words can confuse, so use them wisely if you can.

                          "You and I"       1991

Others will offer you things, but I am real.
I promise not to deceive you,  I'll be there from    beginning to end.
I'll be there when you cry, and I'll stay by your side though pain, sadness, anger and joy.
When you're ready, I'll be waiting for you.
And if you can't picture you and me,
I'll still be there, as a friend.
