Ping-Pong Ring-Pong Table Tennis this game is designed for table tennis bats with added ring attachments.

It was an attempt to merge together the competitive and cooperative elements of the original game.

However, it does this alongside the more general competitive and cooperative elements of both play and gaming.

The end product is not only a new game: it is also has a new game play and gaming options system that is well within the frameworks of a traditionally competitive game (and sport).

Remarkably, all this, while retaining the 'look' and competitive allure of the now very basic yet still grand game of table tennis.

Our game is based on rings positioned at the end of the handles.

28mm rings are a good size for catching rings but 32mm are good for pass through and net catches.

Rings can be attached in a variety of ways and at present there are no set/regulated ways to do this.

Obviously for a sturdy connection a screw or plug type method is best. But here is no reason why a spring type connection could not be applied, as this would be a good safety feature especially where younger or less steady footed players/surfaces are concerned.

Some Basic Rules

From the serve the ball must cross the net at least (four times -can be changed on player ability/preference) before the Ring-Pong rules can begin.

Normal table tennis points scoring and tactics/techniques are applied until the ball has crossed the net the [agreed & required] amount of times.

Then at any time after the ball has crossed [four times] a receiving player may announce a RING-PONG moves' request for the opponent to attempt.

If the opponent cannot make the move (see list) the other player gets the point.

Each Player can request the other to try each different move only once throughout the game, i.e. five different moves = five requests.

Players can either make ALL their moves requests first

Or

Take moves requests ALTERNATELY, i.e. one or two at a time

WIN SCENARIOS

The winner is the first up to 21 points (as usual)

Ring Pong points count the same and are added as usual.

Or

After both players have attempted all their moves' requests, the winner can be the one who has the most moves' points.

In the event that the scores are equal the players can go into sudden death mode with one extra request each allowed, until one player fails a move.

If players are playing to 21 points and sudden death happens; the players can decide to stop counting the 'normal' points and opt for the requests' moves' sudden death mode.

Here is a scanned copy of some tested gaming modes for the up to 21 Win/Sudden Death Win and Ring Skill Win pre win game scenarios.

By mixing traditional table tennis rules and thinking with "Ring Skill" points and win modes there is a whole new range of "Gaming Scenarios" to be tried.

We believe that this amalgamation of ideas makes this a very viable fun and playable game. The rules and ring skill elements allow for a more fun based game mannerism which, would also equally be paralleled in the carry over to the more skilled and competitive players and games.

Yes it would be a different type of table tennis competition yet one which may inspire those who initially have different interests play preferences and abilities.
