Double Disk Toy' Games

©2001-3 iSiTPLAY UK

Double Disk Toys can be easily 'home made', so we've made up a few games primarily for play, playwork, youth, & other community and sports groups to give it a whirl or a roll, maybe?

This is clearly another attempt by iSiT PLAY to combine different game play and play-play styles and modes to bring about NEW games yet games which have an appeal that is almost alluringly archaic.

We hope you like the ideas

and

we wonder if you will like the games and even advance them.

One world lets not waste it.

The final or definitive rules have not been decided or claimed and all iSiTPLAY want to do is suggest some of their ideas of how games can be played.

We've included some 'original' notes and diagrams to accompany the text and we hope that you enjoy these pages and the games.

And, if you do, tell a friend about the game

Spread the fun!

And reject the gun!

GAME ONE

This game was first practiced/tested, in miniature on a small coffee table, using tiny beads and paper balls. Ping-pong balls were also used on slightly larger models and it became quite addictive.

OBJECT OF THE GAME

To roll (and prevent roll of) the double disk toy through a designated area (to attain scores) by throwing or bowling or shooting different type balls at the double disk toy (at the double disk toy or at the oppositions' attack' shots).

The game starts with at least one ball per player; the players are not given out but the ball is.

Thus reducing the no of attack balls available to the opposition/attacking team.

A ball can only be given out when a player makes a clean catch from an attacking shot/throw;

Regardless, of whether the shot hits the double disk or not;

Regardless, of which of half the pitch the target bounce hits;

if target bounce is used, the catch cannot be attempted before target bounce happens;

if no target bounce is used (i.e. straight shot to the double disk) catch cannot be attempted 'til ball either hits or misses the double disks.

When a ball is caught out it is bagged/binned behind the team who caught it.

When a team has less than one ball per player they must rotate their attacks sharing the remaining balls.

Scoring can be broken up into various ways here are some feasible possibilities.

A 1/4 roll or (a 25)

A 1/2 roll or a (a point5)

A 3/4 roll or a (a 75)

A roll (one point)

(or it can be called a goal; a try or whatever you prefer)

Only players throwing or attempting catches are excused from retrieving and returning balls into play (including to the opposition).

Play Options include:

Innings (play 'til attacking team is all out, then attacking team defends)

Innings (play X amount of attacking shots per go/half as an innings i.e. three shots per player)

Timed Innings (unlimited amount of shots/bowls etc in a set time play 'til attacking team is out)

Timed halves (of attack then defend no 'outs')

Timed halves (of attack & defend - no 'outs')

We think this is a decent playground / yard game what do you think?
