American Greetings Corporation of Cleveland Ohio created
the world of strawberry shortcake in 1979-1980.
Strawberry Shortcake was originally a character on a greeting card.
The World of Strawberry Shortcake started small in 1979 and continued to grow through 1985.
Kenner manufactured the dolls and accessories in 1980.
Originally there were four regular dols issued- Strawberry Shortcake, Huckleberry pie,Blueberry Muffin, and Apple Dumpling on Tea Time Turtle.

In 1981 Kenner made all the regular dolls with pets. Each of the dolls were scented to smell like there names.By 1983, the regular doll line consisted of 19 friends with pets. The Ragdolls consisted of two vinyl faced dolls and expanded to include 9 more with all cloth bodies and faces. The babydoll line consisted of six large baby dolls and four small berry babies. The Party Pleaser Line consisted of ten dolls and was made in 1984. Also in 1984, five sweet sleeper dolls were introduced. In 1985,the final line of dolls-Berrykins- were produced.

1985 was the end of the Strawberry Shortcake line produced by Kenner.
