DOUGH: 1 C. Flour 1/2 tsp. Salt 2 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder 2/3 C. Shortning 1/2 C. Milk
Syrup: 2 C. Brown Sugar 4 T. Butter 2 C. Water 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
Peel and halve the apples. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut into shortning. Mix with milk, then divide in half. Roll out each half and cut into five squares (each half). Wet edges of dough and press into ball around the apple. Set apples in baking dish. Prepare syrup by mixing ingredients. Pour over apples and bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Use five apples. |
