Neko is Kitsune's very best friend, her housemate and the reason she lives in Yuriba. (see Kitsune's personal history) She taught Kitsune rudimentary English when they knew each other as children, and continues to help and support Kitsune as she learns and addapts to new cultures she never encountered in the forest home where she grew up. Neko is the daughter of a U.S. serviceman, and an American citizen by birth, but has taken Yuriba as her home. Neko speaks with an accent due to the fact that she spends almost all her time in cat-girl form, the structure of the feline brain causing her speech to become more like that of the cat-girl's native tongue. On those rare occasions when she does re-assume human form, her accent returns to normal, but these are few and far between. Neko and Kitsune live together in the house they built in a bamboo grove, just past Hanamori's natural springs in the pine forest.
Hanamori is one of Kitsune's closest friends, as well as being a dear friend of Neko Angel. A priestess by trade, she came to the island a few months before Neko arrived and decided to make it her home. Hanamori found an abandoned hangar, left there by the Japanese military during world war II. Records found there suggest that they built it as part of a planned air base, and abandoned it after some of their personell returned from exploring the forest... in female form ~_^ She used it as a temporary home until the completion of her current lodgings, a modified Derrigible (Zeppelin) which she keeps flying above the hangar clearing. Just north of the clearing she found a small collection of natural springs, which she has made suitable for use by the public (clearing away the underbrush etc) and west of that is the bamboo grove where Kitsune and Neko's home is located. Kaolla suu has also built a home to one side of the clearing where she lives with her girlfriend Yuki. Hanamori's clearing was once a center of activity, recieving as many as a dozen visitors each day, but since she began traveling again, and many of her friends have left Yuriba, things have died down somewhat. Her head assistant Blossom (a bioroid) still resides in the clearing, ready to assist any visitors, and is quite well known for her pleasant disposition and good manners.
Rumors about Hana's mysterious nature and powers abound, some claiming that she is in fact a Goddess incognito as it were, but she refuses to confirm any such speculation.
