The Adventures Continue
2006

This is Moument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. You reach it by
US163 from Kayenta and Gouldings and Mexican Hat,Utah.
Its very colorful area. Covering several thousand square miles with in the Reservation.
The park and vistor center are open 7a.m. to 8p.m.
That is from May to Sept. Then the rest of the year from 8to5.
Its will worth the time and drive. Words can not say enough about the beauty of it.
The camping areas are very nice too.

This is the place I got lost at. Went into the store came out and went the wrong way back to camp. Boy! Was I ever upset. Thanks to cell phones and a Forest Ranger that relaid a message to Cwit. All ended with a happy smile. The tent you see is of a friend of Cwits that he had not seen in some 30 years. As they use to ride their dirt bikes together back then.

Hello to all. Just wanted to share the view we get out here in the desert. It is so peacefull to see that moon come up over the mountain. Especially when you are setting by the campfire with the man like Cwit.

This campsite is at Quartzsite,Az. We will be here a couple of weeks. Its so peacefull out here. That is before to long all hell will brake lose. The different groups will be arriving. Which they are a real good bunch of people looking to enjoy life in the out doors. Myself, I think the best time to get here is mid Oct. As you do have thing to your self. As winter comes around the of January and Febuary the population goes to over a million pepole because of the mineral and gem shows. There are now 8 mineral and gem shows. As it brings many other venters in. Plus people arrive with their motorhome, fifth wheeles, campers and most anything has wheeles. The area is a marvellous place for boodocking. There are many off road trails foe bikers, Quads, hickers and four whellers. It also has many desert plants and animals such as desert bighorn, that is if your lucky to see one, kitfoxes, desert turtles and many birds. Quartzsite has a population of about 3400 hundred at normal times and is 876' in elev. It was started in 1856 by Charles Tyson. Because of the water supply it became a stagcoach stop. Tyson Wells was no longer once the stage stop running. In 1897 a small mining boon revived the town. It was then called Quartzsite. You even have this book store there, that is very unusal. I love to go by every chance I get. As the owner there wears nothing at all. I mean no clothes what so ever. Its really a site to see that old skinny, tan, body out there selling books. I love it as he is doing what he wants. Not hurting any one. He is just doing his thing.

Had to show you one of the joys of Boondocking. You got to understand one thing there is no hook-ups in boondocking. Just peace and quiet. No cars or busses or sirens just the birds and foxes making their noises. This Pairasailor was boondocking in the same area as we are at on Ogilby Rd. We get there first. Then in about a week he shows up and stays for some time. This is been going on for the last few years. He will fly in the afternoon hours. Say from 4p.m. on. That is if there is no wind. It sure is a neat shight when he goes over head and makes a couple of circles. Just watching him get ready to take off is pretty interesting. You sure have to know what you are doing. Then there is geocahing. I am not sure just how that works. As I never have tried it. The site to go that you can retrieve ingormation at is geocaching.com/. You will need to select a new account and complete a short form first. Then follow the institution . If you try it have fun. As the men have a great time with it I have heard. Our friend Dave has done it. Have not seen him this year. Cwit said they was going down in the Florida area this year. Kitfoxgal is say so long for now. Enjoy life.

Just had to show this pitcure. This is Rod. He is celebrating his 70th birthday. His wife had a surpried birthday party for him. The group, Escapees BOF, was at Quartzsite,Az, Jan.18,2006. Cwit took Rod out for a trail ride on their motorbikes. AS they are off road bikes. Then while they were gone thing got to poppen. Sure had to work fast. We got everything set up just out side their motorhome. As everyone would not fit inside. We had gotten the birthday cake the day before in Yuma and stored it in Cwit,s motorhome. About 50 group memmbers showed up. It turn out great. Then when Cwit and Rod came back from their ride we all then sang Happy Birthday to him. The cake turned out to be pretty darn good even if it was a day old. Quartzsite has a big thing going on there every year about the same time. It brings in thouands of people. The traffic gets to be very, very bad. There is even a book store there whose owner wares nothing at all and I mean nothing. I have gone by his store just to check him out. Each time he has nothing on. Where it been in the 70,s-80,s in the day. Could not ask for anything any better. We are now back off Ogilby Rd. Nice to be back. Howdy until next time. It is lunch time and I have to do my share of the cooking. Kitfoxgal

Cwit took me over to Quartzsite,Az one week. He then stop by the Proving Ground. They had several tanks on diplayed there. This is a Sherman Tank. Yuma Proving Ground is 25 miles north of the city of Yuma, Arizona. It is approximately 180 miles east of San Diego, California, and approximately 185 miles southwest of Phoenix, Arizona. Yuma Proving Ground is part of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command and is one of only two general purpose proving grounds within the command. Specific proving ground capabilities include testing of: artillery; mortars; mines; ground and aircraft weapons; target acquisition and fire control systems; wheeled and tracked vehicles; and air delivery material, equipment and techniques.

This is Quartzsite, Az. for its 2006 Big Event. Quartzsite is 125 miles west of Phoenix at the junction of Interstate 10 and U.S. 95, near the Colorado River. Quartzsite is located within La Paz County. The community has a Mohave Desert setting and is only 879 feet above sea level. The nearby Kofa, New Water and Plomosa Mountains provide topographic relief while the Colorado River lies only 17 miles to the west.
Quartzsite was knowen as Fort Tyson, constructed in 1856 by Charles Tyson for protection against Indian raids. Named Quartzsite because quartz was occasionally found in the area, the name evolved to Quartzsite through an error in spelling.
Its a very busy place when the Big event starts up. That is one reason Cwit and I get our self together and head out to far away places. One other point you diffently can spend money there. That is if you don,t have well power and I dont. Too many nice goody,s.

These are the 5 Riders of the Desert at Ogilby Rd. They are Bob, Dale, Bill, Rod and Carol. Dale lead the way as he has a memory that does not let them get lost. He rembers every thing as I have found out the hard way. He knows the trails by hart. He has been riding out in the area for the past 3 0r more years. They ride the Cargo Macho Mountains, explore the trails around the Colorodo Mine, Tumco Mine, America Girl Mine, Cargo Mine, Gravel Pit and ride near the Imperial Sand Dunes.

Just had to share this photo with the rest of you. As I enjoyed receiving it. Its about one of the riders above "Dale". This was at a gas stop at Iowa Hill, Ca. It was the 1974 "49er National Championship Enduro". It started in Foresthill,Ca. Up off highwaay 49. Dale and Carl (one in the white color shirt)got #1 start. Carl did win a trophy for coming in first. None for Dale this time around. As it was his first Enduro. He did get 2nd place at another time.

This is the boat at Bodega Bay, Ca. Taken on the opening day, April 1st, of the 2006 salmon season. It came with a 4 cylinder engine. Cwit put in a 305 cu. in., V8, in it 4 years ago. He done the work his self at his home. That was before he moved into his motorhome full time. Its a 1987, 21 foot, Bayliner. Cwit bought it in 1991. It has a gps, radar, autopilot, fish finder and radios. We usually fish in the Pacific Ocean in the North-Central area. Fishing regulations have changed so much. There will be a subblement comimg up some time May. That supplement is produced to update the Ocean and Inland salmon regulations and any other regulations that has changed. Web site for Dept. of Fish and Game is (www.dfg.ca.gov.) You better make sure you know them. Other whys that fish is going to cost you more then a good stake. Licenses was 34.90 for resident and 94.00 for non-resident.

We are spending sometime at Bodega Bay, Ca. now. As fishing and crabing has started. This is called Hole in the Head. It was a P.G.& E. project. The beauty of the area is marred by this huge hole. Dug back in the 1960s when Bodega Bay was slated to become the site of a nuclar power plant. When conservationists and geologists raised seismic safety questions. As the San Andeas Fault is near by. There is a walk from the tip of Bodega Head up the peninsula to Salmon Creek. Its about 2 or so miles long. It goes by the Bodega Dunes, some of the tallest coastal dunes in Calif.

Just had to show this off. These are the greates bunch of guys around. Cwit and Kitfoxgal went to Bodega Bay to fish and get the crabs. No fish but the 3 pots that are set out about 150 feet deep gave us 8 keep able crabs. So we took them to Ord Bend, Ca. Its about a 3 hour drive from Bodega Bay. We just had to give these fine boondockers a treat.
Dungeness crabs are caught from the Oregon border to near Avila in San Luis Obispo County most commonly in waters ranging from the intertidal zone to a depth of about 300 feet. The season for the tasty crustaceans opened from Sonoma County south on Nov. 6, and is scheduled to run through June 30, 2005. For Del Norte, Humboldt and Mendocino counties, the fishery opened on Nov. 27, and is scheduled to run through July 30, 200 The sport fishery for Dungeness crabs allows the daily take and possession of both male and female crabs either by crab traps or by hand. All legal crabs must measure at least 5 inches across the body shell, directly in front of the most prominent spines, called the lateral spines. Every person taking Dungeness crab is required by law to carry an accurate measuring device.
The weather was great and had our feed out doors.
