Cwit with Salmon at Bodega Bay, Ca. 06-29-2006
Kitfoxgal caught her salmon July of 2006
It was a great time for fishing. We canned 42 pintsof salmon. There are five species of North America Pacific Salmon. They are:chinook, chum, coho, pink and sockeye. The salmon population is declining on both the west and east coasts. When some salmon reach the fingerling stage, they start their journey to the ocean...but some salmon stay where they are in the river, lake, etc. The salmon that go to the ocean have already matured for one year and have many obstacles ahead of them.

This is a pitcure of Donner Lake I took one day when on a trip to Reno for lunch and I mean just lunch. Will be posting more info. Had so many problems posting this photo that I am getting tired of working on this. So better finish now befor I screw it up more. Will I am at it agin. Lets see what happens this time.
Its Donner Lake. It is located in California, off Highway 80. This picture is from the road looking over the lake. The lake is a basin formed by glaciers action and faulting. The Lake is surrounded by Sierra Nevada Range and the infamous Donner Summit.
There are many activities to do at Donner Lake. Fishing, hiking, boating, swimming, diving, and sailing are just some of the summer activities. During the winter, Donner Lake is a great place to come for skiing and snowboarding because it is located near Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, and many other ski areas. The Lake is surrounded by houses, many that are summer and winter rental homes. Donner Lake is picturesque and a great place for families to vacation all times of the year! I have rented homes up there several times when my children were "wee ones". Always enjoyed what time we was there. Learned to water ski one year. I must say I did fall a few times.
What ever you do or go enjoy life now when you can.

This is Hedge Creek Falls Park near Dunsmuir,Ca. Not far off of Highway 5. The site was dedigated in the Memory of John & Emma Wehrhem and their daughters. The sisters saved the site from being destroyed when the freeway went in. They deeded the site through the Sierra Club of Dunsmuir. So it would be preserved so all could enjoy it.
The Wehrheim property had served as a Indian Mission from 1870 to 1912. The Sacramento River runs through the town of Dunsmuir.

This was one of Cwits surprised little cut offs on our way too Bend,Or.

"Mt. Shasta" The Shasta-Trinity National Forest covers more than 2,100,000acres. Its off of Highway 5 just past Redding, Ca. and on our way to Bend,Or. The mountain is a dormant volcano with 5 living glaciers. It is 14,162 feet high. Some 1,269 miles of trails are in the area. Plus 154 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. There are 3 important lakes in the area. They are Whiskeytown, Shasta and Clear Lakes. There are many kinds of things to do in the area. Such as lake and stream fishing, hunting for waterfowl, upland birds, deer, bear and many other types of animals and there also are tours of the dam. Recreational gold panning using a metal or plastic gold pan is ok. Permits are reguired. You can get them at Whiskeytown unit only and are $1.00. There also is hiking, swimming, boating and sailing. Its a very good place to rent a houseboat and sail Shasta Lake. I have done that and its very relaxing. What ever you do its a very enjoyable place to spend your time there.

This was just a beauty of a sunrise. It was taken at Olgabe Rd. near Yuma,Az. Always have a early morning fire to enjoy the beauty of the sunrise out in the desert. Kitfoxgal

This beauty of a photo was taken in 2005 out by Yuma, Az. We had alot of rain ,that is for that area, that year. With an average rainfall of 4-12 inches (100-300 mm) each year, the Sonoran is home to a wide variety of cacti-cholla cactus, organ pipe cactus, and silver-dollar cactus, just to name a few of many other desert flowers. As you can see in the photo.
Another plant that is a beauty, not showen, found in this desert is the octillo, a tall, spindly plant that has adapted to the dry conditions of the desert by sprouting leaves five or six different times during the year, and then dropping them during the winter to avoid excessive moisture-loss. Its beautiful red cone-shaped flowers often bloom right after the first spring rain. They are all a site too see when in bloom.
