Mediums Destroyed: 2 Kira ran her fingers through her hair, relishing in the feel of the cool spring breeze caressing her. She stood on the roof of Domino High, escaping from the suffocating presence of her classmates during lunchtime. Kira truly appreciated Anzu and the guys company, but she found solitude a priceless treasure when everyone toppled over each other just to watch Jounouchi or Yuugi duel. Distracted by her thoughts, Kira didnt hear the iron door swing open, and Kaiba Seto step behind her until he was mere inches away from her trail of whispering blonde hair. Seto smirked as she massaged the back of her neck. She would unconsciously repeat that gesture nearly every time he stared at her. It was as if his gaze was some tangible presence. Then his grin vanished as he demanded, what are you doing here? Kira spun on her heel, her expression changed from a mixture of shock and confusion to a bashful blush when she saw him. Se Seto? Oh. I. Umm, well. She was trying his patience. He wanted this solitude for himself. Intentionally making his existence as threatening as possible, he stood as close to her as he could. His gaze fixated on the horizon, and he crossed his arms over his chest. Seto told himself it was just to intimidating her into leaving, but in truth He wouldnt mind waiting those few seconds before she ran to Mutou Yuugi with her tail between her legs. She was a very intriguing creature. Anno Seto? Are you dimwitted or confusing bravery with stupidity? he interrupted. Kira tangled her fingers in the fence. She was determined to stay. It was her first chance to be alone with him, after all. You being here doesnt scare me, if thats what you mean. Hmph. Dimwitted, then. She took a deep breath, Seto? Nan da? You own the Blue Eyes White Dragons, right? He paused, why do you ask? Its one of my favorite cards! Kira excitedly asked, Can I see one? Seto glanced to her, eyes widening slightly. The only sign that she might be uncomfortable around him was the blush on her pale cheeks. I keep my deck locked away when I dont need it. His brain churned in turmoil as she sighed, what makes you think Id let you see my cards, anyway? Why not? her face was truly confused. She wasnt teasing him. I have done nothing to make you think I enjoy your company. I think you were awfully nice to me at KaibaLand, Kira pointed out. Seto grimaced. He had been. Or at least, he had been in his standards. She deserved even more credit for understanding that, too. Why are you still here? he growled moments later. When she didnt say anything, he continued. Im sure Mutou Yuugi and his cheerleaders have fed you every bit of dirty gossip they could about me. She didnt deny it. So why are you here? Seto loomed over her, breath hot in her face. Kira didnt waver, I dont think youre a bad person, Seto. Seto seethed with anger. He turned from her in disgust, nigh drawing blood as his nails dug into his palms. Long, awkward minutes passed. He gritted his teeth, trying to get a handle on his rage. She looked on helplessly, wondering what to do. Seto, she tentatively rested her hand on his back. Whats wrong? His shock was now complete. She wasnt dimwitted, but her bravery was more than stupid. It was insane! Was she always this nice to people she barely even knew? Perhaps she had found him as interesting as he had her. Or maybe... This is ridiculous, he thought, since when did I waste my time and energy trying to figure someone out? Seto tore away from her touch, anger venting from him like a furnace as he stormed off the roof. In the end, he had been the one to leave. Kira-chan! I had no idea you were so good at Dance Dance Revolution! Anzu exclaimed hours later. Kira toppled unto the carpet, breathing heavily, but I could barely keep up with you! The two girls had spent most of the night prancing about on Anzu's DDR mats. Kira's Blue Eyes Toon Dragon pajama shorts and sky-hued spaghetti strap top were drenched in sweat. Anzu, however, only bore a trace of perspiration on her forehead. She wore a Black Magician Girl baby tee that left a trail of flesh above her pink briefs. Dance Dance Revolution, Kira had found, was the perfect way to forget her troubles (and the exchange she had with Seto on the roof earlier was certainly troubling). No wonder Anzu wanted to become a famous dancer so bad! It's been a long time since someone gave me that much of a challenge though, Anzu complimented as she plopped down next to her. Where did you learn to do that? I used to take dancing and singing lessons when I was little, Kira gulped down the nearest can of cola. This isn't yours is it? I don't think so... She fished through the junk food piled next to her PlayStation, seemingly oblivious to the subject change, nope. Here's mine. The blonde perked her ears to the eerie silence radiating from the rest of the apartment, where did your parents go? They leave every Friday night, Anzu offered her the bag of Doritos after grabbing a handful. They like to be busy. They munched on chips while Anzu pointed through a stack of photo albums, explaining all the events and people Kira hadn't already heard about. Kira still didn't know anything about the ancient magic that had surrounded their social circle for a year now, and Anzu didn't plan on telling her until she got the okay from Yuugi. Who's the boy with white hair? Kira nodded to a picture of a soda exploding in Bakura's face at Yuugi's last birthday party. That's Bakura Ryou. He's in our class, too, but he got mono last weekend. It's pretty bad. He won't be in school for a month. I like his necklace. It looks a lot like the one Yuugi-kun's always wearing. The ringing telephone saved Anzu from the potentially dangerous conversation. She nearly tripped over herself running to answer it. Kira starred on at the brunette's anxiety. She was hiding something. Mushi Mushi? Anzu nervously picked up the receiver, oh! Jounouchi. Kira and I were just looking at the picture of you stripping last year. WHAT? he screamed so loud that Kira was sure she would've heard it two floors down. Don't show Kira-chan that! But she found it so amusing, she teased. If I remember correctly, you were helping me get out of my shorts, he growled. I bet you didn't show Kira-chan that. It was my first keg party. It doesn't count, Anzu replied low and dangerously. She glanced nervously over to Kira, who was innocently flipping through the albums. Anyway, I though Kira-chan might be over there. Shizuka 'n everybody are over at my place, and we wondering if y'all wanted to hang out. Hang on a sec. Anzu giggled evilly as she slid next to Kira, the guys' and Jounouchi's little sister want to hang out. Sounds like fun! Kira cried, then she jumped up. Wait! I have to get dressed! Hold it, Anzu yanked her back down. If we go over there, all we'll do is play Duel Monsters all night. I don't think you want to do that. You wanted to hold off dueling until you and Yuugi get a Duel Ring next week. Right? Uh-huh. So what do you want us to do? We played DDR for me already, so its your turn to pick. Kira's automatic answer was to play more DDR. It was fun, and it helped her get her mind off things, but she wasn't sure if she could handle loosing to Anzu any more that night. Karaoke! Great idea! Anzu rubbed her hands together, smirking uncontrollably. I can't wait to hear those guys try to carry a tune. But will they want to? Kira asked glumily. Oh don't you worry, there was a glint in her cobalt eyes as she whispered her scheme into Kira's ear, you just have to do this... What the fuck is taking her so long? Jounouchi mumbled to himself. Honda and Otogi were likely to get boners if Shizuka kept treating them like buddies, and he wanted to be there to fend them off if a hard-on got to much for them. Pick up already! he screamed as he heard a hail of laughter from his living room. There was no way Yuugi could hold off those two guys in heat. I'm sorry Jounouchi, Kira apologized quietly in the receiver, Anzu-chan and I were talking... Oh don't you worry about it, Kira-chan, he batted the others away as they crawled next to the telephone. Did you want to come hang out with us? Honda was making kissing noises as Kira babbled. Well umm... sure, but it's just... I kind of want to... would you mind if we? Ummm .... I'm gonna hurt you! Jounouchi bashed Honda on top of the head before returning to Kira, we'll do whatever you want, Kira-chan. NO! Wait, Jounouchi-kun! Yuugi suddenly realized that Anzu was over there. It's a trap! You want to sing karaoke, too? Jounouchi-kun that's great! Kira sighed happily. Just then, Anzu barked into the receiver. We have to get ready, so meet us at that karaoke place near the school in two hours. Uhh... sure, Jounouchi ever so slowly replaced the phone on its hook. Guys... we're fucked. Kira and Anzu giggled wickedly as they changed into more suitable clothing, nearly dropping all of their cosmetics in their excitement. I still can't believe it worked! tears of mirth had welled in Kira's eyes. You played the part perfectly, Kira-chan. But, Anzu-chan, you came up with it! Anzu laughed maniacally, Sou da yo. Those guys may be geniuses when it comes to Duel Monsters, but they don't stand a chance to feminine wit! Really? I don't understand why Jounouchi fell for it. Isn't it obvious? Anzu was about to explain it to her, but Kira had already ducked into the bathroom. When they met up, everyone was surprised to see the two girls had dressed almost identically. Anzu's mini-dress was crimson to Kira's onyx, and she wore a white blazer instead of a blue jean jacket. They both had donned leather boots that touched their knee-caps, tan and black, receptively. Probably the only thing not-matching was their make-up, which had been applied according to their own complexions. Everyone else, including Shizuka, were still in their school uniforms. Jounouchi hung his head low upon their approach. I'm sorry, Jounouchi-kun. Kira sincerely apologized, knowing exactly what he was sulking about. Don't be, a young brunette smiled. I like singing. Are you Shizuka? Kira recognized her from Anzu's photos. Shizuka nodded, Shizuka-chan is fine, Kira-chan. Oniichan has been talking about you so much, I feel like I know you already! Shizuka! Don't say such things! Jounouchi hushed. Sorry, she poked her tongue out at him as she giggled. Kira was blushing wildly, it's nice to meet you, Shizuka-chan. Well now that introduction are over, Anzu drew a camera out of her purse. Let's get going. The guys' paled upon the sight of that tiny, metallic instrument. Anzu would have even more blackmail material against them. To start things off, Anzu and Kira had agreed to sing the first song. It was their scheming who brought everyone here, after all. They performed a very emotional piece by Hamasaki Ayumi, Dearest. Otogi and Honda followed, belting out Sakamoto Maaya's, No Need To Promise. If Shizuka would've had to make a selection between them from singing alone, she would've had to pick Otogi. He was a real teenage Casanova, being able to caterwaul almost as well as a pop star. Jounouchi and Shizuka went next, singing together so that they could 'draw up on each other's courage.' Honda halted the arguing over who would follow, saying he had some brilliant plan. I know Kira-chan and Yuugi are not going to duel until next week, but... What if they could compete now? Everyone's confused gazes fell upon him. A singing competition! Isn't that a great idea or what? It's a new kind of duel! A Karaoke no Game!Jounouchi beat his fist in the air. The duelists can pick the artist, and their challengers pick the specific song. You have to make the performance as perfect possible. The rest of us are the judges!Honda continued. No biased opinions! Otogi reached out his hand and the other 'judges' placed theirs out on top of his, nodding vigorously. Yuugi-kun? Do you accept this challenge? I accept. Kira-chan? Do you accept this challenge? Wait a minute! Kira-chan has already sung tonight, but Yuugi is still fresh! Anzu protested. I accept,Kira said firmly. Then she turned to Anzu, I'll be fine... But thank you, I appreciate your concern. Yuugi, as Kira's senior, stood first. Then suddenly, a golden light blanketed him. When the light was gone, Kira noticed he had grown, again. WHAT? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, AIBOU? Yami Yuugi screamed in the little 'world' of their minds that the Sennen Puzzle created. Yuugi coughed nervously, I'm sure you'll sing much better than me. You CAN NOT use the magic of the Sennen Puzzle so frivolously, Yami Yuugi chastised. It's a challenge, Mou Hitori no Boku, a chall-en-ge. You aren't afraid of a challenge are you? You're the one who accepted, remember? Please, Yuugi glanced up at him with big, puppy dog eyes. I'm really scared of singing in public. You should've thought about that! Oh come on, Yuugi retorted. Youre not going to inflict damage on some illicit karma. Youre not doing anything evil, breaking any laws, or sneaking past security guards with hundreds of dollars worth of porn in your jacket, he referred to the last time he used the look on his other self. So come on, it wont hurt anything. When Yami Yuugi looked uncertain, he added. Kira-chan is going to start wondering what you're doing. Do you want another person in on your secret? The more people who know the more dangerous it is. Oh all right, but this is the last time I do this sort of thing. And Yuugi only grinned innocently in return. Is something wrong, Yuugi-kun? Kira inquired as Yami Yuugi returned from his retreat. Nuh... No, don't worry, Kira-chan. ...Do you know the artist? Yami Yuugi reflected on the song Jounouchi and Shizuka had sung, For My Dear. If this 'Gackt' was some love-song pussy, most of his works should be similar. I choose, Yami Yuugi paused for the dramatic effect, Gackt. He double-taked when he saw the satisfied smirk on Kira's face. What on earth had he just done? Suddenly, the words 'Gackt' and 'Vanilla' flashed across the karaoke machine. Yami Yuugi tried is best to shake his hips as his voice cracked to the lyrics. His face turned redder and redder as he realized just what he was singing. This song was dirty! Meanwhile, the others were enjoying his performance quite thoroughly. Honda howled when Yami Yuugi toppled over trying to do a dance move, Otogi was making lewd suggestions, Jounouchi was laughing so hard that soda spurted out of his nostrils. Shizuka had to turn away, and Kira was doing everything in her power to keep from giggling. What was worse, however, was that Anzu only paused from taking pictures of him to get a frame of Jounouchi's soda spill. As Yami Yuugi grudgingly returned to his seat, he gave a silent swear, Aibou! You are soooo in for it! He blushed even harder as he heard Yuugi nigh keeling over in laughter, his buddy had watched the whole thing. Kira had to wipe the tears from her eyes before taking the microphone from him, I really like Hamasaki Ayumi. I'll do another one from her. Yami Yuugi gave his trademark grin, I know well of Hamasaki Ayumi. Prepare yourself, Ryuushou Kira! His violet eyes danced in amusement as he picked Evolution. There was no way she'd be able to keep up with it! Kira's sapphire gaze remained calm as the title came, she raised the microphone to her lips with all the talent of a professional. Yami Yuugi froze in shock as Kira was not only able to keep up with the insanely fast song, she danced to it flawlessly. I'm gonna have to go with Kira, Otogi nodded to her as she removed her jacket before sitting, the only sign the performance may have taken something out of her. Everyone nodded in agreement, and Jounouchi slapped the motionless Yami Yuugi on the back, tough luck, pal. Mediums Destroyed: 2 To Be Continued
