Mediums Destroyed: 2 Kaiba Seto climbed into the limousine with Mokuba at his heel, and ordered the driver to KaibaLand, where he and his little brother would be observing the duel between Mutou Yuugi and Ryuushou Kira. Though his face was as indecipherable, his mind concentrated on Kira. There was something about her that had kept him from berating her the day they met. It wasn't simply because she was attractive (though she was undoubtedly striking), but more like he knew her somehow. After that afternoon on the roof, he'd spent his evening getting headaches from thinking about her and how awful he felt for being so... Well, for treating her like he did everyone else. Kira didn't deserve that. �This is nonsense,� he often commanded himself. �I am not, and I will not act like, some lovesick dragonling.� No matter how many times he said it, or something like it, it didn't change the fact that every time his mind wandered he thought about Kira. There wasn't much that fumed Kaiba Seto more than not being able to concentrate on his work. What fueled his anger even more, was that he couldn't be irritated with her. �I'm really glad we're going to watch Yuugi duel,� Mokuba was practically bouncing in his leather seat. �I've been worried because you haven't dueled since school started.� �Hmph,� Seto replied. �it's nothing, Mokuba. I've just been busy is all.� �Is the KaibaLand in America project really going that bad?� �There's been minor setbacks, but it's nothing of concern. They will all be solved when I oversee the office there this fall.� �Do you have a new girlfriend?� he bluntly asked not a moment later. Seto nearly leapt through the roof. �That doesn't interest me at all!� His horrified expression twisted into a fierce snarl as he thought back to all the times Mokuba had walked in on his more 'intimate' moments. Unfortunately, Seto's younger brother didn't seem to understand raw, emotionless sex. Mokuba assumed Seto was having actual relationships with those women, but it couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, he didn't seem to understand sex in the first place, having not witnessed the steamiest events that took place in Seto's office. Seto paled when he though of giving his brother the 'talk.' He glanced to Mokuba, who was humming innocently while peering at the scenery. No, he was not looking forward to it all. Ryuushou Kira sauntered into the empty Duel Ring and sighed. Nobody was there yet. She had known better to get up so prematurely on a Saturday morning, but her excitement had kept her recoiling off the walls of her bedroom all night. How could she sleep when she was about to face the King of Duelists? She glanced nervously at her wristwatch. There was a good ten minute gap before the others where likely to arrive. Sighing again, she took a seat in the stands, drumming her feet against the benches before hers. �Kira-chan?� Mokuba called to her as he and Seto strode in. Kira blushed when she saw the latter. Her lavender top and cream capris instantly felt far too tight upon Seto's stare. �Good morning, Mokuba and Seto.� �You're dueling Yuugi today!� Mokuba grinned as she joined them. �Are you nervous?� �Not really, just excited.� Kira beamed. Just then, Yuugi and the others poured into the arena. It was evident that it was early more from their disarranged clothing than the exhausted looks on their faces. Kira realized that she was probably the only morning person amongst them. Mokuba and Seto were entirely different cases. They seemed to function properly no matter what time of the day it was. �Kira-chan,� Yuugi greeted her in his much deeper voice. She wondered if he had some sort of mental disorder. Like multiple personalities or something? �Good morning, Yuugi-kun.� The shuffling of each other's decks was uneventful, and they found themselves at opposite ends of ring, five starting cards in hand. �Duel!� they called simultaneously. �My turn, draw. I summon Big Shield Gardna in defense, and then place two cards face down. Turn end,� Yuugi began the duel. �It�s my turn, draw,� Kira recited. �I play a monster in defense, and two cards face down. Turn end.� �My turn, draw. I summon Gazelle, then use its special ability to summon Berformet. Magic cards open. I use Fusion, to fuse Gazelle and Berformet together to create Chimera, and then use Quick Attack so they can attack during this turn.� Yuugi raised his finger to opposite side of the arena, �Chimera attack the face-down Monster.� An image of Fairy Dragon shattered along with the card it ascended from, and Kira called out. �Trap card open: Revenge Sacrifice. This trap card allows me to sacrifice the monster that destroyed my own. I sacrifice Chimera to summon Sky Dragon.� �It may be a level 6 monster but it only has 1900 attack,� he thought as amethyst eyes fell to his hand card. Then he declared, �My battle phase is not over. I play one card face down. Turn end.� �It�s my turn, draw. I play one card face down. Turn end.� �My turn, draw. Big Shield Gardna is sacrificed to summon Black Magician Girl. Black Magician Girl attack Sky Dragon.� Suddenly, one of Kira�s facedown cards evoked, �I use Dragon Treasure to raise Sky Dragon�s attack.� �I use the Book of Secret Arts,� Yuugi countered. �Now Black Magician Girl�s attack is stronger than Sky Dragon.� �Trap card open! Reverse Trap! The equip magic you just used turns into damage. Black Magician Girl is beaten.� �Yuugi!� his eternal cheerleaders cried, as Black Magician Girl was shattered to pieces. �Hang on! Yuugi!� �Wait� � Honda realized. �Kira-chan, she�s�� He turned to Kira with Otogi, Jounouchi, and Anzu. Kira was their friend as well. How could they cheer for Yuugi when she was his opponent? How could they cheer for her? �Dajoubou desu,� Kira told them. She smiled sweetly, but was unable to mask the pain in her sapphire eyes. �Yuugi-kun has been your friend far longer then me.� �No. We�re all friends,� Anzu gently reminded. �Yeah,� Otogi nodded. �We�re here to encourage both of you.� �They�re right,� everyone glanced to Yuugi. �Kira-chan we�re not going to betray you even if we are fighting. That�s our friendship!� �It�s the thing that you can see and yet you can�t?� Kira recalled the phrase Jounouchi and Yuugi often quoted. Yuugi nodded, �let�s continue our duel, Kira-chan.� �It�s still your turn,� Kira�s face shone with raw emotion. She had been truly touched by their support. Now she knew no matter the outcome, rather in Duel Monsters or in life, they would be there for her. It was true friendship. �I play Swords of Revealing Light,� Yuugi�s tone changed as the adrenaline of battle purged them once again. �Turn end.� Kira�s attitude reversed as well. �It�s my turn, draw. I summon Takriminos, and place two cards face down. Turn end.� �My turn, draw. I summon Queen�s Knight in defense mode, and then I place one card face down. Turn end.� �It�s my turn, draw. I use Revive to return Fairy Dragon to the field and then I sacrifice Takriminos and Fairy Dragon to summon Seiyaryuu. Turn end.� �Preparing for a sacrifice?� Seto thought as he noted the two weak monsters, helpless on Kira�s side of the Ring. �Yuugi has summoned Queen�s Knight. He is obviously preparing to summon god. Are you aware of the un-peered power you face, Ryuushou Kira?� �My turn, draw. I summon King�s Knight. When both king and queen are on the field it allows me to make a special summon: Jack�s Knight. Reverse magic open! Brave Attack! This card allows me to add up the attacks of all my monsters to attack! The target is Seiyaryuu.� �I activate the magic card: God�s Judgment. In exchange for 1000 life points it allows�� �What�s wrong? Kira-chan!� Yuugi cried as her bloodcurdling scream pierced the air. Her cards fluttered to the ground as her body made a thud upon the impact to the podium. Mediums Destroyed: 3 To Be Continued
