Rush March 17, 2003 It shifts the door aside Air so warm and fresh Running to share with you My long awaited guest Cozied on the couch we notice Siamese cordiality While TV's flashy cars were thunder Crashing gleeful cautiously Then with no coats and racing toward it Our own treasured path awaits We join an unseen convoy That hums with dated freights Hearing the river stir and chatter We trip through mud to near her She splashes and sputters out excited Convincing, her abandon of winter Breathlessly we beat the day home And build veggies for our hunger Yet not long after welcoming bed Todays bells roused valued slumber Now seeing cars glitter busy lots Through lectures and shut windows The birds and sun should make me eager But I'm happy writing prose About you and me and her and saying 'bugs help spring' matter-a-factly The rush of spring around us sparkled When I saw you smiling at me |
