befriending Riboflavin
Spring 2001

campus caught in a breeze
the door beside us slams
a playful wince and bright eyes
challenge my habit of looking away

not distracted from your voice
when people talk
the warm air rushes into the hall
bringing motion in a chatter

your hair stands
then softly alights
the last gust dries
until one blink soothes the burn

the vibration continues
has no bearing, wants no direction
only the greeting to a radiant realm
that presence offers

passage propels me to it
this world is elastic forever
but shoots me back soon
dizzying, being able to leave

but then go skipping, dancing wherever
