Robin is the daughter of Ronald "Dawes" and Delores (Quoetone) Twohatchet. Her maternal grandparents are the late Bill Quoetone and Lottie Quoetone. Her paternal grandparents are the late Rev. James Myers, Sr. and Agnes Horse and the late James Daugomah. She has two brothers, Deron and Ryan. Robin is also of Comanche descent.

As a student at Cache High School, Robin served as Vice-President of the Indian Heritage Club. She was involved in the Gifted and Talented Program, Student Council, Orchestra, Science and International Clubs, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Medical Explorers, basketball, and softball. Her honors included being named to the honor roll, lettering in basketball and softball, and being selected to the EHS Tri-City Orchestra and All-Region Strings (Violin). Robin was a member of the United Methodist Church of Apache Youth Group, teacher for Children's Church, and a volunteer counselor for Drug and Alcohol Youth Camps. She attended LEGACY International Youth Leadership Camp in 1995 and was a writer for a national teen magazine, REAL. Her first article was published in the fall of 1995.
