Lois's parents were the late Gregory Haumpy and Daisy (Whitehorse) Haumpy. Her grandparents were Charlie Whitehorse, Mabel "Maunkauquoodle" Hummingbird. James "Hone-Ayho" Haumpy, and Mary Satepauhoodle. Lois also served as the 1981 Kiowa Warrior Descendants Princess.

She has been married to Virgil Swift since 1982 and has two children, Ryan Jon and Daisy Mae. Lois is a member of the Carnegie Victory Club and the Southwest Oklahoma Vietnam Veterans Auxiliary. She has also acted as president of the Kiowa Princess Sorority since its formation in 1999.
