2008 Kiowa Tribal Princess Candidates

 
LaTasha Lucille Clark: LaTasha is the daughter of LuAnn (Whitehorse) Clark and the late Gary Lynn Lewis Clark. Her maternal grandparents are the late Charlie and Laura Whitehorse. Her paternal grandparents are the late Ida Mae Lewis and the late Lee Clark. Her paternal great-grandparents are the late Willie Lewis and the late Annie Sitting Eagle. She is an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and is currently a sophomore at Anadarko High School. She attends the United Methodist Church of Apache and is the current Native American Marine Corps Veterans Association Princess. She has represented the organization for the past three years. She has been in the powwow arena all her life and has competed in cloth and buckskin categories and is an active participant at the Kiowa Black Leggings Warrior Society celebrations. She is the direct fifth generation descendant of Tauhauson, who served as the last chief of the Kiowas for 33 years, prior to his death in 1866. Her great-grandfather, Charlie "Tsentente" Whitehorse was the Keeper of the Sacred Bustle for the O-Ho-Mah Lodge. He recorded songs from the O-Ho-Mah Lodge, Gourd Dance, Sundance Ceremony, Ghost Dance, and many others which are now in the permanent custody of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. Her grandfather, Matthew Whitehorse, is the Bustle Keeper for the O-Ho-Mah Lodge and was the Kiowa Tribal Director for 12 years (1967-1972, 1976-1981).

 
Amie Rae-Dawn Tah-Bone: Amie is the daughter of Pat and George Tahbone Jr. Her Kiowa name is Tow-Pah-Mah (The One That Goes Ahead). Her siblings are Stephanie Tah-Bone Hamilton, Amber Tah-Bone Pritchett, and Sevon Tah-Bone. She is the granddaughter of George Tah-Bone Sr. and Marjorie Queton Tah-Bone and Agnes Swain and the late Ray Swain. She is the granddaughter of Wilahemena Calisay Kodaseet and Dominick Tah-Bone and Aileen Bointy and John Queton. She is a descendent of Red Tipi, Donepi, Dohausan, Big Bow, Red Buffalo, and Blackhorse. She is a graduate of Mountain View-Gotebo High School in 2005. She is currently a junior at the University of Oklahoma. She was listed on the Dean's Honor Roll for the 2007 fall semester. She has served two terms as Kiowa Tia-Piah Society Princess.
