Chapter One: Atmospheric Break
You must live

For the happiness which you will bring

My eyes have been opened after such a long time

They deserve better than this

You must live on for them...
On a late Friday night, all is still around Tokyo, including the ominous gray clouds which had loomed over the city for a few days. From the clouds high above Tokyo a lightning bolt descended at the speed of light and struck the earth near the center of a park. She had been enjoying a night alone, just admiring the flowers. It began to rain and one young woman is caught in the park.
"Man, it's raining hard!" the sound of rusting brush caused the brunette to swing around in fear. She was shocked to see a human figure fall from the bushes on the side of the path. "Oh my goodness!" she said dropping her umbrella to run over to the figure. Brushing her ponytail aside she found a silver-haired young man about her age, near death, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
The light was bright and blinded him as he tried to open his eyes. Once he had brushed the sand out of his eyes and blinked a few times to get used to the light he looked around to see a strange room filled with plants. It was then he noticed the brunette laying her head next to him on the bed, sound asleep. He couldn't really see her face since her ponytail was in the way, she looked very peaceful to him. It was then that he noticed his wounds had been bandaged and his shirt and jacket at the end of the bed clean and mended, along with his katana, which appeared to have been polished. He attempted to get out of bed without waking her, but as soon as he moved she stirred. This continued for about a minute, stop and go, stop and go, until she woke up to see him sitting on the side of the bed next to her. "Oh You're awake" she said noticeably blushing and looking away, "I'm sorry, I'll prepare breakfast immediately," she got up to leave him, but he called after her.
"Wait" she turned to see him standing up. "Thank you for you hospitality and care, but I don't eat breakfast and I don't want to cause you any more trouble. So I'll be leaving." He said and picked up his jacket, shirt, and katana.
He was at the door when the brunette finally could say, "Don't go! You aren't any trouble!"
He turned to see her holding her arm out toward him as if trying to catch him from running out of her life. "Are you sure?" he said.
"Yes, I was getting kind of lonely living alone" blushing and looking at the ground once again.
"Oh..." He said softly.
"My name is Kino Makoto, you can call me Mako, nice to meet you," she said bowing.
"My name is Hoshinokita Kuramoto, just call me Kura, the pleasure is mine," he said also bowing.
It was fall and the school bell had rung recently and the kids poured out of the school. Thigs had been peaceful for about two years and there was no sign of any trouble brewing in the near future. A familiar group of girls is walking down a Tokyo street and gossiping about the day's occurrences.
"Ami do you know why Mako wasn't at school today?" a girl with long dark hair asked.
"She didn't call me. How about you Mina?" the girl with short blue said.
"Nope! Nothing all weekend. Bunny do you know anything about it?" the longhaired blonde said.
"I didn't hear anything, except that she might be sick," the girl with long ponytails said.
"Do you think it's a guy?" the dark haired girl said.
"No way Rei, let's go to her house and see!" Ami said.
Ami knocked gently on the door and all huddled around the door and anxiously waited the small eternity until Mako opened the door. "Oh! Hi guys," she said edgily, opening the door only a crack, "What's up?" The lopsided smile on her face made it quite obvious that something was different.
"What's going on?" Ami said.
"Oh, nothing."
"It's a man isn't it!" she said jokingly.
"NO! No. Why would you think that?" she said blushing and stepping back.
"Then let us in!" Bunny said now very interested.
"No, I uh... burnt something in the kitchen and it's a mess. OK? Bye!" she said and shut the door.
"Wow! Maybe she does have a guy in there!" Mina said imagining the fiasco.
"It seems probable, but someone she just met?" Ami said.
"Well we know she didn't burn anything! We'd smell it and Mako's far too good of a cook to let food burn!" Rei said forcfully.
"Let us in! Let us in!" Bunny yelled pounding on the door.
"Hang on!" Mako yelled from inside.
"Kura you've got to hide! My friends might think we're..." the thought sunk in, "That I'm..." deeper, "Ohmygod!" she said holding her head and blushing.
"No prob! I wouldn't want your friends to think that! Go and let them in and all be gone by then. Okay?"
