| Info: 48"x9" (approximate), acrylic on rough cut wood panel. July 26th-29th (Alla Prima) This is actually 2 boards that I painted at the same time. It was done entirely "live" on the dock & I took 3 days, so like Toran Mal #2, it took on a "different life" as time wore on. Light changes, weather patterns shifted, each became another layer. I chose the rough edges wood on purpose, the clouds & trees are never a straight edge, so why should the canvas be? This was the biggest project I've ever done in plein air (let alone alla prima), so I'm pretty happy with it. My Wife says it makes her feel like we were still there, so as a plein air artist, I've accomplished my goal. If the viewer gets a good feeling, or a sense of what the wind sounded like, or felt the cool water, then it's all worth it! -G- (remember to scroll to the right to view the entire panorama). |
