This was a fun picture I painted on my last day, sitting on the dock. It took about 2 hours (before lunch). But I brought it back down to the lake in the afternoon & added the yellow detail on the leaves with a pallette knife. I rarely use a knife, but I like the effect.
The underwater scene was done with lots of yellow ochres & Naples yellow (all hail to Vincent!). Then I added transparent washes of deep blues & purple( & medium) to darken the lake bed. After I used transparent green washes over the whole scene. Finally I used a white wash to give the impression of the surface of the water. -G-
